| you might like Sacrifice, which is sort of WC3/DoW2-ish, but instead you directly control your army's hero unit. it has resource management, but it's not overbearing. |
there are people on the internet that say this is the Best Game Ever. the interface was very difficult for me to get into, but I tried. I wanted to get into it. |

I can tell you in starcraft 1 I never lost a match because my framerate slowed to 5FPS when there were too many zerglings onscreen. I couldn't micro and lost most of my units.
Time for a new video card. |
time for a new CPU, you mean. starcraft 1 performance would have almost nothing to do with your video card. |

| Actually he's saying that in SC2 his framerate slowed and he lost a match because of it. A better GPU or CPU would help in this regard, since both are involved in rendering. |
how do you extrapolate that he's talking about SC2 out of this:

In comparison to...? |
This is really tangential, but in comparison to Quake Team Fortress and Valve's Team Fortress 2, every other Fortress game or mod was shit. Even aside from that, the original Team Fortress and Team Fortress 2 have entirely different playstyles, the only thing in common being classnames and the worst map of the series (2fort). |
TFC was pretty good. |
well.. tfc is basically qtf. and it's valve. so it counts as one of the good ones :) man, tfc was awesomely awesome. |

sc:bw is one of my all-time favorites. the "use map settings" gave players literally endless gameplay, and also gave people a great taste of game dev.
does sc2 have great ums stuff going on? |

| Also, Booter, SC2's UMS are pretty great as far as games and communities go. It doesn't have the haphazard make-shit-work-even-though-it-shouldn't feel, though. |
can you give an example of one or two of the cool UMS maps? are there any new gameplay types on offer, perhaps some with emergent properties? is the next DOTA in sc2 ums? |
