I always seem to find markings and remnants of cavefish wherever I happen to stumble in the wilderness.

Where is that thing, Grimm? I wonder if it links up to one of the ravines in my cave system.

So, before you guys get any ideas, it is called the Unexpected Sea. When you see it, you'll know it.

If you start at my house on the lake and head in a sort of north westerly direction you eventually end up in a cave. This cave is circuitous and I lost all track of direction by the time I reached the ravine within.

So probably no.

Thanks for the compliments, guys. I have plans for the second belltower, then filling in below the cathedral so I can start working on my crypts/catacombs.

Work continues on my dark tower. I plan to build it as high as the game will allow, which should make it nice and visible from afar. The only problem is its grandeur draws monsters from far and wide to worship at its base. So I've built a three tiered forest of cacti around it to slaughter them before they get close. So far, so good. I've been taking pictures as I go, so I should hopefully have some nice uploads in a few days. Interior work remains in limbo, until I can get the basic structure done. Though I did hollow out a basement room and start a nice garden.

Once the tower is done? The high speed rail revitalization project will begin!

Yeah, the tippy top of the belltower is the skybox limit where I am at, which is nice and high.

My slime farm is a crude and ugly pit.
However, it DOES successfully produce slimes, albeit inefficiently.
If anyone would like to come kill some slimes at my slime farm, feel free. Please don't take the sticky pistons I made, though. It takes kind of a while to get slimes to show up.

Sticky pistons guys!

I visited Our Lady of Cobblestone San Booji sopra Caverna a few days ago during my grand tour of the civilized areas of the map. I had been spending all my time in my little isolated corner working on the acropolis with only the occasional cavefish for company, so on the way to meeting Fly and stealing all his lapis lazuli I wandered about and took in the sights. The sheer scope of the cathedral pretty much blew my mind! My whole acropolis could fit inside half of it, my Parthenon in a corner. :( It should really be equivalent in scale, but the acropolis MUST be atop a hill and there are no mountains tall enough to, when flattened to create an area large enough for such a project, still have any height. Ah well, the Christians always did have an inferiority complex over pagans that they had to salve with their architecture.

When I am finished I will probably do a short video walkthrough for funs. Also maybe, as a larger project, a video tour of the whole map and everybody's contributions, but that'd be sort of silly since the landscape changes so often. Maybe when the server dies, may god forbid such a thing.

That hill in the evergreen area east of my house on the lake is just riddled with caves. I fell down two holes that led further in and connected, I found the start of my second failed expedition to mine some caves (starts near an abandoned mine!) and when we were trying to find our way out (Offal and Droqen), I found an underwater entrance out.

I prepped for my fifth expedition, this time wearing full iron armour. I ran out of easy food back at that place so I headed back to my cabin/shed farm and made me some bread while waiting for the sun to rise again. And then I stumbled upon a cave entrance between Endless and my eastern holdings that looked interesting. I figured it would just be a quick nab of ore and then dash back to the evergreens. But no, there were three main branches. One was quick and ended in a dungeon with a skeleton spawner. There's a sign noting that now. A second and third meandered around and connected up into the same ravine except on different levels. And then there's a side bit which leads to yet another ravine.

I managed to live through it all! So finally I've got stacks of coal to cook some cobble and enough iron to replace what I wasted in earlier expeditions!

Absolutely satisfying.

Yeah, I wanted to build it out of something other than cobblestone, but everything else would've been far too resource intensive, so I didn't. Might use the Paintery Pack cobblestone soon to make it look like stone brick, which could be nice.

Glad to hear it. I didn't really realize how big it was till I looked at the map posted just above. I actually meant to make it bigger, and still might at some point.

Still not sure I officially want it to be christian. I mean, obviously it is in terms of archiecture, but there was a part of me debating making a giant flaming upsidedown cross on the altar, ha.

I still need to find a lot more iron to make the bells as well. For some reason my mine has yet to yield much of it at all.

Dig down to the bedrock. There's tons down there. Or, alternatively: Visit my cliffside dwelling and stock up on whatever you need. I've got, like, two 64 stacks and a half just sitting there, waiting for love.

Meanwhile, construction on the dark tower has halted as I work to defeat the dreaded Google redirect virus on my computer. :(

just curious, but I assume server utilities (or whatever) can do things like find certain block types or look at mob spawning zones, yes?

if so, if possible, it would be neat to get numbers for the user-placed "essentials" - crafting tables, chests, torches, ovens, etc

I didn't say anything earlier, because I wasn't exactly sure we were using the same cardinal directions, but this actually sounds very much like how you would get to my cavern.

My suspicions were confirmed when I found the spider's nest that killed you guys during your last expedition.

Does this look familiar? That cobblestone was there when I got there, so I can only assume it was the work of you guys.

This mine is interfering with my slime farm. It must be lit up and cleansed. Would you like to help? It might be interesting to have an underground passage between our forts. This minetrack is already laid out, even.

I didn't put up cobble because I never actually saw it. Only shnozlak saw the actual spawner block and I suppose he might have stuck around to do something. You would have to ask him. Once a spider latched to my BLOOD I ran like a coward. If it spews out poisonous spiders (by the looks of things yes it does) then it's possible. Or it even could be the other end of the abandoned mine you found. Only more exploration will resolve this mystery.

I might show up to help.

So I managed to destroy and burn every spider. It was a pretty hectic game of cat and mouse, me versus the spawners, the dark, and the maze. Then, after I finally managed to destroy the spawner, I guess I let my guard drop and somehow managed to get hungry and then subsequently killed by a single zombie.
Other than a diamond sword and a couple of buckets I didn't lose too much, though. The annoying part is that I was right next to a zombie spawner when it happened, and now I have no idea how I'm going to get back there to take it out.

Ever since I armoured up expeditions aren't heart-racing endeavours where if I ever met a creeper face to face I would die. It's still dangerous particularly when you can't see your attackers until you put down torches (TWANG-g-g-g-g!). And staying around any one area with a branch in the dark only invites mobs to spawn and collect then mob you when you try to go down that path.

Anyway, the two connected ravines are now cleared out of ore visible in the ceiling and walls. It's still kinda interesting to navigate and fairly safe to do so now with it lit. I've put up paths to like three different height levels on each ravine so I could reach certain deposits. This is all near Endless' place on the way to my current home.

I went for two iron pick adventure in the cavern riddled hills of the Marshy Evergreens (biome is right next to a large body of water that's only one or two units full of water) and stayed away from the abandoned mine because of SPIDERS and my armour was nearly running out. Came out with more coal than I know what to do with which is a nice change from having nothing.

All the saved up cobble from the underwater tunnel is converted into stone bricks and put into my lake tower. It's at the right height where I'm going to put a glass sphere and still be below the block placement limit. Still going to need more because in order to get that high I had to leave a staircase in the walls itself. And I'm going to need a ton of sand. I guess I'm tunnelling for the next lake sooner than I expected!

On the plus side, the bottom is carpeted with grass including the secret hollow that I just recently found has a number of caves twisting off into the darkness.

Think I'm going to have to add signs and start naming local landmarks.
