Very nice, Endless.
Finished the second belltower, though without enough metal to make a second bell yet. Started working on the Crypt a bit, which I have some fun ideas for, and began leveling out some land next to the church, but had some major creeper bombing to fight off, so ugh. Fuck creepers, they are just annoying.
Someone (Grimm) told me about glass panes yesterday, which are great, so I have to go update some windows tonight probably. |

Today, a great tragedy fell upon our world. Masked assailants moved through our cities smashing windows and inciting floods. It is not known what the full extent of the damage was, but it is known that Cavefish Island in particular was targeted and burned. Yggdrasil was reported to have been a target, but fortunately the assailants were intercepted before they could damage the world tree.
Rescue crews were hard at work quelling the fires at Cavefish Island and plugging leaks in the great glass tunnel. The fires at Cavefish Island are under control for now, but the tunnel remains dangerous.
Residents are advised to check their surroundings for indications of damage or tampering. Do not attempt to personally handle dangerous objects, as it is believed that there may be the potential for further damage. If fires are spotted in your vicinity, please contact the local fire control service and help will be sent right away. Do not attempt to step on any suspicious bumps on the ground, as these may be traps left behind by the assailants.
Laptuta does not appear to have been damaged, but it is advised that residents do not approach the floating city. Recent observations of the local wildlife spark worries that animals have become increasingly aggressive. The city of Laputa, known for its abundance of wildlife, should be avoided for this reason. The assailants may have also tampered with the surrounding landscape. Inspection crews are anticipated to clear the city in the coming weeks.
Two arrests have been made in connection to the incidents. They are being held until further notice. Anyone with any information pertaining to these incidents and arrests is encouraged to step forward to authorities. _________________

| Where is that thing, Grimm? I wonder if it links up to one of the ravines in my cave system. |
If you start at my house on the lake and head in a sort of north westerly direction you eventually end up in a cave. This cave is circuitous and I lost all track of direction by the time I reached the ravine within.
So probably no. |
I didn't say anything earlier, because I wasn't exactly sure we were using the same cardinal directions, but this actually sounds very much like how you would get to my cavern.
My suspicions were confirmed when I found the spider's nest that killed you guys during your last expedition.
http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/1760/20111019113303.png
Does this look familiar? That cobblestone was there when I got there, so I can only assume it was the work of you guys.
This mine is interfering with my slime farm. It must be lit up and cleansed. Would you like to help? It might be interesting to have an underground passage between our forts. This minetrack is already laid out, even. |
I didn't put up cobble because I never actually saw it. Only shnozlak saw the actual spawner block and I suppose he might have stuck around to do something. You would have to ask him. Once a spider latched to my BLOOD I ran like a coward. If it spews out poisonous spiders (by the looks of things yes it does) then it's possible. Or it even could be the other end of the abandoned mine you found. Only more exploration will resolve this mystery.
I might show up to help. |
I started bricking it in when I was suddenly slain. _________________ Mixtapes galore ~ VG MUSIC

So the exterior of my tower is complete. The three floors are laid, a passage is made all the way up into the glass sphere. That bit has it's own mini-sun smack dab in the center too. I just need more stone brick so I can do some design work on the largest set of walls. Pictures tomorrow! I went on a trip to cavefish island to visit and then wandered back to my mine, stopping occasionally to see what has transpired at landmarks.
My mine has hurt feelings, OhGodSpidersNo. ;-; |

I wish you could recruit Endermen to help you build stuff. Maybe a mod will do that some day.
I was also kind of disappointed about the use of the ender pearl. Short-range teleportation is neat but I was hoping that maybe you could use them to get the temporary ability to move any block without mining it (but you'd be restricted by being unable to drop the item/move it into your inventory). Maybe grind the pearls up like bones to make endust, and the endust could either be sprinkled somewhere to attract them or burned in a furnace/combined with a torch to repel them from your buildings.
Instead they're used for crafting a portal into the boring new dimension. I guess the dragon planned for there is cool and kind of Magic Carpet-ish* but other that it's dumb.
also I wish they had unique noises. Several times I've been mining when I hear a zombie and I think I'm going to dig through into a neat cave with some monsters to fight but it turns out to be just an ender bro moving stuff around in a little tiny cave closet.
ugh, notch removed their ability to move stuff like stone and brick and stuff in 1.9. now the only frustrating thing they can move is TNT.
*someone make this mod now thanks |

Yeah, the Endermen love being in my church. Also, trying to fill in the land under the Church is proving hard with all the dark/monster spawns there. Ugh.

LAVA THE FLOORS. LIGHT AND MONSTER REMOVER IN ONE PACKAGE!
Other than, you know, frying everything you have on you if you fall in. But if you don't care for the drops and are careful only to bring supplies for the current trip, it's probably the safest method for filling in caverns in the dark. |

So, in the week or more I've been absent, someone did an amazing job adding onto the Great Divide Railway. Hopefully, whoever did it doesn't mind that I picked it up again. Now it connects all the way from the spawn point out to the very top of Joefish Castle (or, the ruins of it, anyway). I've also created the cobblestone bridge all the way from Joefish, past the Acropolis (looking amazing, Cuba!) and out to Krathicus tower on the dividing line. All it needs are the tracks. I'm busily mining up some silver now to lay the tracks the rest of the way and, hopefully, add more torches to keep the monsters off (I saw one creeper spawned up top there, but only the one. Hopefully it was due to the darkness and nothing else). So, soon, we should have a (safe?) route from the spawn all the way out to Krathicus and I's towers!
Cool, eh? |

I've been playing this a ton, but haven't felt compelled to write updates. But, most of the people on the server have seen my place and have even helped me build it.
I'll probably post a photo tour at some point, but that time is not now.

I saw the skyrail just floating out there running right past the rear of the acropolis, so I said what the hell and hooked myself up to it. Put up a gate too to keep monsters out (someone needs to light that thing).
The acropolis is complete. I even built approaching stairs that lead down to my own little Piraeus (which is lame, maybe I'll spruce it up later). I don't know what to do with myself now. I do know that it looks fucking awesome approaching from either side on the skyrail.
Krathicus' tower/castle complex on the Great Divide is beautiful. Also I totally bogarted your obsidian farm man, thanks for setting that up. I left you redstone (I have like fifteen stacks) as payment. _________________ Let's Play, starring me. |

I'll have to swing by that way sometime soon. Sounds like there's a lot of neat architecture I have yet to see. I'm kinda on the other side of spawn, sorta close to OhGodSpidersNo (enough to go sight-seeing without much hassle). If you can't or don't want to enhance what you have already built, then find another suitable place and start over with something cool. =) I know most of us have done just that, moving further away from spawn.
If you guys need iron I've got like 4 stacks doing nothing for me at the moment. And for maximum efficiency you want a powered rail every 36/39 blocks, less if you're going up hill. The first value is to keep in line with torches being spread 9 blocks apart for light to keep mobs from spawning, the second for best stretching of materials.
I'm putting together a castle complex about 60 blocks square and seems to be about 18 blocks high for the four towers, 12 for the connecting walls. I've already put maybe 25 stacks of stone brick in it minimum and I just barely have one wall completed and a tower about 2/3rds done with the rest still being in foundation. It's sitting on this bend of the river that I remarked on previously in this thread, in a swamp biome. I'd say it's about midway from my House on the Lake/Cell Tower and OhGodSpidersNo Mountain Holm (names may vary from person to person).
Oh, and before I forget Offal: Could you use Cartograph to scan for block number 97 (0x61) or 98 (0x62)? We're wondering where the strongholds are. Then we could organize an exploration party and die hilariously together. |

I was putting the boosters every 30 blocks or so. I guess it's not as efficient, but, oh well. Works, amiright?
Cuba, I really wanted to connect the skyrail your way, but I totally didn't want to mess with your creation. Glad you decided to hook up!
Grimm, I could use some iron! Save me from having to harvest a ton.
I should probably extend the skyrail out to my tower in the wasteland beyond Krathicus tower, but it seemed so natural to end it there...

OK! I've extended the railway from Joefish Castle ALMOST all the way to the Acropolis. Anyone who wishes to contribute silver to the cause will be handsomely rewarded with a commemorative plaque (sign) placed somewhere along the track bearing your name (subject to committee approval)! I've also gone back and added more torches along the track areas to (hopefully) eliminate monster spawns up here. I could probably use some more torches, but for now, I'm placing them every 15 blocks, so they land on the booster rails and directly between them (since I place boosters every 30 blocks). If anyone notices monsters up there in the already lit areas, let me know! And I'll add more.
Edit: And I totally skipped over what you were saying there Grimm about the torches. Hmmm. Maybe I should go back, add em on the 8th block or so between the existing 15 block markers. Hmmmmm. |

i died full of exp orbs in my cave while testing TNT on various blocks, and now the exp orbs lag the whole server somehow. they actually disconnect me when i'm near them, so i can't make them disappear with time. this didn't happen when booji used to lag due to exp orbs, they only lagged the people nearby. so i don't know what's happening

Okay, all the stronghold possibilities are marked, kinda subdued. You won't see them right away once you get within draw distance but if you're in the general area you will stumble on it. Shall we organize a group sometime this weekend?
I went on a bit of trip after dropping off my load of cobble into the castle furnaces. Went and saw the sights like
The now continuous stretch of railway from Offal's place all the way to a little ways off from Cuba's area. Nice job with the connection and hill boost there!
The skull hut sitting in the center of the map. I like it's simplicity.
The acropolis with it's pleasing array of columns and golden statues.
Krathicus' Great Divide location. Man, is that ever HUGE and amazing. I'm envious of the scale involved. And your mine is just as confusingly twisted as OhGodSpidersNo. And probably a number of other people whose mines I have yet to plumb.
MKite's(?) little tower. It's a neat little place I had no idea existed or even who that is until it showed up on the horizon.
Booji's cathedral. I...may have blown a bit of a hole in one of the halls of the catecombs. Creeper snuck up on me. Liked the bell towers and the cut-away underneath showing a lively bunch of mobs lurking in the semi-dark.
No mention doesn't mean I haven't seen it; I have already visited a couple of locations around those places. You guys done good.
Joe where do you want the stacks of iron placed for rails? |
