Does mute build or just farm?
Hello top post!
I have added a castle accessible only by the spawn->rift railroad.
Small food production on the 3rd floor if anyone needs a melon or a bread. _________________ Mixtapes galore ~ VG MUSIC

| The rail line to the Great Divide is now complete. I've ridden it back and fourth without issue. I still need to add some more torches in a few dark spots and, maybe, add some stoppers and starters for people who don't want to attack their minecart to get off. But, that aside, it works, it's awesome, thanks for the iron Grimm, EVERYONE COME RIDE IT. |

So awesome, it's such a beautiful ride. The Great Divide is like the Wall from Game of Thrones. This server is amazing.
I'm actually thinking about giving my home a stop on the rail line; something I was very opposed to before. _________________

Hey, can we all try to avoid exploring any more of the world or the nether until 1.9 drops? There's some cool biomes on their way, and it would be nice to increase our chances of seeing them. _________________

Construction on my latest project is complete: An elevated bridge that connects Krathicus Tower to my tower out in the wasteland beyond the Divide. The wasteland is, like, monster spawn central. This makes it easier to make the trip and, hey, if any of you rail riders want to check out my new home, now you know the way! Obviously, it's rather inspired by Ico / Shadow of the Colossus.
I also, sadly, said goodbye to my cliffside dwelling and tore it apart for scrap. No big loss though.
I'm thinking about maybe severing all the balconies from my tower (minus where it connects with the bridge) to make it look more stark and minimalist. Whaddya think?
Spiders, so what are the new biomes? |

The balconies make it unique to other towers (I know mine have been fairly featureless and smooth vertically most times). I'd say keep them. |

I already hacked 'em off. :( But I have vague and undefined plans of building an entire castle around it, sooo...it may not matter!
I think I need to ride the rail back to the spawn and spend a few days exploring what has changed since I traveled west with my brothers. |

I think I went down there for a bit. It's right above the start of the bedstone, right? And you're planning to put in a mine track for the entire distance? That's incredibly ambitious. Good luck with the endeavour because if it is completed then I'm betting it will be on par if not further than the one leading to the Great Divide. I also realized that this is where that random opening near my hilly home led.
Eh, fuck it sometime this week I'll go through and add proper simple stop points to the current rail system and maybe figure out a way to bypass the circle launcher at spawn when coming from the Great Divide. Might as well use the gold I found for something useful instead of just stacking it. |

You can probably do this quite easily with a few boosters at the foot of the ramp. I forgot that Notch increased the power of the boosters some time ago. The circle launcher was something I cobbled together ages ago in single player and just rebuilt here. That I didn't even need to build one at the other end of the rail line probably speaks volumes about how unnecessary it is (too bad, too. it's so clever!). |

Maybe that's me; not sure. Not sure if I'll build a minecart down there. At the moment there are too many shoots I want to explore, and anyway, I'm about to leave Minecraft/Australia for six weeks. The next project will be connecting the current tunnel back to my place/s near the spawn point. |

That's easy enough. We can just reconfigure some of the booster spots, take out the redstone torch and replace it with a button. The only problem is sometimes they backfire on you. Like, if the cart in that picture was going the opposite way? If it stopped partway up the incline, it'd end up going backwards once you pressed the button. Though I guess if we made it like \_/ it wouldn't be an issue. |

Which is what the one at spawn was like before it got subverted and subsumed into the greater rail structure (Don't mind one bit that it happened). The picture only features the one-way stop. The two-way is what you describe, with a rail pressure plate in the middle to transfer the power to the opposite rails so they don't stop being powered while you continue onward.
Incredibly basic but functional. I sort of want to try a more complicated station but I think the prototype will be out in the wilderness before trying to make it fit at spawn or the Great Divide. We should think about sending a branch out to booji's cathedral too. |

The reason I made the booster (aside from forgetting that Notch increased their power) was because that switch stop never worked for me when I placed a new minecart there. :( I always ended up getting shot out going the wrong direction.
But feel free to rip my thing up and just directly connect it all as one big rail line. I need to redownload that Ghibli map and study what they did with their minecart lines. Those were amazing. If I remember right, there were always carts at the stations, ready to launch. |

Yeah, once I managed to slap in the stop point at my hill and shnoz's tower and work out the kinks I could see that the one at spawn was flawed. That is now fixed. I kept the start rail you put in because it does exactly as advertised, direct route to the Great Divide.
Shnoz's floating castle has a stop and Cuba's Acropolis would have had the same treatment if the server didn't suddenly decide to die.
I kinda want to move the skull house to the spawn stop point, mainly because putting in another stop would be too close to each other. It's a brilliant piece of work and I get why you (general case, I have no idea who did the build) put it there; I figure it would get more use at a stop instead.
Also, there are places where there isn't enough light for safe night travel. I got mauled a couple times by random zombies.
I'm planning on putting a stop at Joe's old place so I can use it as a branch point to booji's and Teflon's places. That won't happen until that branch is more fleshed out, though.

The skull house was just built on a whim because it was dark and I needed a place to sleep and thought sleeping in a a skull would be cool.

Hey, everyone I've shown the server to who doesn't play Minecraft has asked to see a walkthrough of the Acropolis.
So, I'm thinking, using the following design in our "station" points--assuming we want to get elaborate here--we can set it up so there are always minecarts available for players to hop into, press a button and go. The pressure point releases the waiting minecart to roll down the tracks to the position you previously departed from. It's quite clever, I think (not my idea, totally stole it). I think it would require more boosters on the Great Divide Line, since the carts don't seem to go as far without a human operator inside. Hmmmm. |

Can we do apply that orb-removing utility to the server? I know it's time consuming, but obviously the current situation can't be resolved through ordinary in-game means.
Just approaching the orb-ocalypse crashes the server.
Going forward, is everyone aware of the self-immolation trick? You should be dunking yourself in lava on a regular basis in order to destroy excess orbs. _________________

looks like the host was having some problems. working fine for me at the moment.
i'm not really playing this anymore, except to occasionally check that everything's running. i really love what everybody's done and have had a great time playing. if anybody would like to take the account reins let me know! i'll probably come back for a good while after the next update.
here's the latest invoice: https://www.minecraft-servers.com/groupinvoice.php?id=5259&key=99a0dbd35b71fddd0de3726adbc3906d
if it's not paid by date due i'll gladly top it off, if general interest has waned or anybody would like a copy of the latest map backup, let me know! |
