| I finally finished watching Persona Trinity Soul today (not the lack of interest which took me so long to finish but the time), and I quite liked it. I even shed tears in some episodes. It was slow to pick up, but there was something which kept me watching it. So, I'd say the anime didn't fail on that point. I usually drop watching animes which bore me, so! Also, I found the music in the anime was pretty nice too. Downloaded the OST already. :) |

Ah, I didn't mention like a week ago... I continued watching Kurozuka up to like episode 9, just because it was available on YouTube in widescreen with &fmt=18 stereo and higher video quality. Then I got to the end of what had been uploaded up to that point, and couldn't bring myself to download the remaining episodes.
It's a weird series. I can't call it good or bad. It's just...
...
That's about it. I guess it's worth watching on YouTube because it's so immediately accessible that way, but the thought of bothering to download it just leaves me going "..." _________________

It'd be inconvenient to grab them, under current circumstances. I will finish it some day, upon passingly checking YouTube and seeing that, hey, somebody uploaded the other three or four episodes. If, for some reason, the world or the internet ends before then, I will have no regrets. _________________

Just downloaded 4 of them. Looking forward to watching them soon. |

Hm, so.. Rideback.
What do you get when you cross a Kawazaki, a Segway and a 1:10 scale model of the arms of an EVA:02? A RideBack.
Now this is pretty weird. This is MADHOUSE latest, and the RideBacks are easily one of the ugliest "mobile armours" I ever seen. But... for some reason... they kinda work. The fact they're just a jumble of parts, and have some sort of recognizable mechanics... It's endearing. It moves in kinda impossible way, sadly, jumping and prancing a bit too much for a 600Kg brick.
The show also has a bizarre giraffesq character design together with 3D CGI for the mechabikes that doesn't really help the cause. And the first episode doesn't tell much, except that the protagonist is a ballerina having a life crisis. Oh yeah, and that the world is fucked.
It might pay off later on, but worth seeing the first ep for the bizarre mecha and the detailed instructions about making it run. _________________

So, this Rideback. It looks like something I need to see. Its director is Atsushi Takahashi, who while not the director of any of these projects, was involved in Kemonozume, My Neighbors the Yamadas, and Paranoia Agent, which are three of the most awesome things that happened in anime in the last 10 years.
Also, I will watch things from Madhouse. And I'm kind of a sucker for near-future stories. |

I loved SZS, so I'm watching it.
I'm not too keen on the return to occasional SD moments - it's one of the things that ruined Pani Poni Dash for me (aside from it not actually being funny) - but other than that it seems promising so far.
The OP sequence (debuts in the second episode) is stellar, as is SHAFT tradition. It features Maria using his maid as a guitar. |

Can anyone one tell me about Michiko to Hatchin and whether it's fully subbed by now or what? I hate grabbing shows episode by episode and prefer to grab them all in one big torrent, so if there are any out there...
I'm also grabbing Shikabane-hime: Aka and Elfen Lied.
Give me some recommendations. I know I'm not going to find another Gurren Lagann or Kaiba, but I want something good. _________________

Shikabane Hime Aka - okay, but Elfen Lied ... hm, hm. Any special reason why you check this out? This series sounds better in theory than it actually is, but if you don't expect too much it might work. _________________

Eh, it seems to be pretty lauded and the premise sounds mildly interesting.
Shikabane-hime looks pretty interesting, at least. I actually really liked the opening theme, which I can very rarely say. Most of all I'm just curious about how Gainax managed to follow up on something as fucking monumental as Gurren Lagann, you know? _________________

By making a mediocre adaptation of a manga nobody's ever heard of and handing it over to Studio FEEL halfway through.
I wouldn't bother, to be honest. Saw the first episode and it looked like pretty standard "boy meets magical girl" material to me. Months later, after having failed to watch any more episodes, I saw some promo art for the second half of the first season. All of a sudden there were a bunch of magical girls. At that point I knew I'd made the right decision.
If you're looking for something dark, try Ga-Rei Zero maybe? That one was alright. |

This is something that has made me skip on any super-robot-anime so far ... I don't know if I might enjoy it as much as I did love Gurren Lagann and it's only now that I think that I might enjoy some "normal" scale robot-action again. I don't know how good/bad Shikabane-hime is, but I expect that it at least keeps a minimum level that still is above the schlock that is thrown around every season.
Let's see as soon as I have time on my hands ...
speaking of this season:
I really love Druaga too much and enjoyed the first two eps of S2 way more than I should, but the series works since I still can remember most of S1 and have this nostalgic-feeling about the jokes (and especially the opening) that make me enjoy this. Kind of like I can't wait for the next OVA-episode of goku sayonara zetsubou sensei (speaking of that - maria+holic really feels like a spin-off of szs but I still don't know whether I like it ... waiting for ep2 to see where this is headed).
And yeah, second season of Birdy the Mighty, another show I probably end up enjoying more than I should. _________________

I found Maria+Holic to be rather ostentatious. I'm aware that these types of shows are about that, but I just didn't find many of the things that were supposed to be surprising or funny to be all that funny. Ironically it's the bit characters that get little or no screen time which I found most amusing. Hopefully they'll all be fleshed out more... _________________

if it only were about the visuals ... I really dig the Sayonara-style but the uninspired "story"/bs make it not worthwhile enough to care anymore. I'll take a look whether ep03 gets it right but fear that it won't.
I really hope that at least Birdy gets it right, but even that might be too much... _________________

anyway, i've been watching elfen lied, and my, what a haunting and lovely opening theme. one of those that definitely sticks with you. the show itself, though, well... it seems to be a melodramatic harem show featuring lots and lots of perky pink-nippled boobies, mainly those belonging to the scary superhuman waif with catgirl "horns". the vehicle for these indulgences is an extremely brutal, blood-soaked sci-fi story riddled with severed limbs and exploding heads that seems to be a mix of akira and, er... something that involves a nearly extinct race of superhumans. all the nyu nyu nyu is more annoying than it is adorable, but i guess the weird blend of genres is keeping me entertained enough. gonna stick with it for now. _________________

What's the consensus on the new Ippo so far? I've only heard from one person about it, and supposedly it lacks both Ippo and the fun music of the first. _________________

haha. it was pretty creepy and i definitely would never ever recommend it to anyone who doesn't have some level of tolerance for anime bullshit. elfen lied was some serious bullshit, but i ended up getting sucked into it anyway. :/
hajime no ippo will take a couple of days to finish downloading at this rate, but i can't wait. _________________

I'm told that image is from a recap (looks like it's used in the OP, though), and that Ippo himself probably won't show up until maybe half way through the season at the rate that they're moving. Apparently this picks up around chapter 314 or so of the manga, and Ippo doesn't get in until 347? Also that the animation is choppier despite the larger budget.

Psiga, you're right about the lack of Ippo. I'm not sure about the other things as I have not watched any of the new series.
Still, I don't know why you're concerned over the lack of Ippo. Unless you don't give a damn about the other characters, and just want the series to be all about Ippo.
I know that Ippo is quite a popular character among female viewers; well, at least to this near-thirty-year-old-lesbian chick that I know. |

| Episode 16 of Toradora was great. Every now and then it dips into generic romantic comedy territory but this show has about ten times more heart than anything I've seen in a while. |

Pretty much all the episodes of Toradora have been great. I'd like to say that it's because it's actually taken generic romantic comedy and made it enjoyable though. _________________

guys, this Akikan show
it's about soda cans who turn into girls when drank from
also the sexual orientation of every character is announced within two seconds of their appearance
http://www.veoh.com/videos/v17129531QGqQckAw
in its poorly drawn, go-for-broke awfulness, it is better than maria+holic's waste of talent |

Episode 24 is really cute. Shit gets real.
Anyone else hate the feeling you get when you don't want to write something because you're afraid it gives away too much of the series? Sort of how I feel about Xamd. It's very much a cumulative series. Akiyuki is almost reminiscent of Shinji, excepting the fact that he's not a pussy. _________________
