Higurashi Kai is half over, and it's still awesome. The second season's art is so much better than the first, it's amazing.
Finally, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei's 6th episode got translated. This series is going wierd places. |

| Why didn't you motherfuckers tell me that Gurren-Lagann rocked? It's like the anti-EVA. Instead of the story of a young man being broken down, it's the story of a young man being built up. |

AMV Hell 4 is out. I recommend avoiding it. There's about four minutes of good stuff in there, which is four less than AMV Hell 3.
EDIT: Also: EPISODE 27 FIGHT THA POWAH. |

| You know, I've just noticed something about long anime series. They take the West Wing idea to the extreme. Let's walk down hallways and talk for a stupidly long time, and then eventually do something. Although in the West Wing they were actually talking about politics from an interesting perspective. In anime... this doesn't usually happen; so you basically just end up with people talking for a long time about... well, stuff they did, or are going to do (the Seinfeld approach, essentially). Which at this point I've found to be pretty repetitive (maybe I've just watched too much anime? I need an anime break?). |
Yeah. This is why Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann is exceptionally awesome. It's not just the burning fighting spirit, but the pacing. There aren't any unnecessary moments or lines in the series; they get at least two episodes' worth of material out of a single episode, and they're all important episodes. Even the more downtempo talking-about-emotions episodes have a very fast tempo compared to most anime. It's pretty remarkable writing. |

| With Lain, I always joked that the Men In Black should really be Men In Black With Red Splotches, so that they'd blend into the shadows better. |

| What isn't the case - It's worth noting the original author of the novel was a Hikikomori himself, and he's aparently pretty bitter about the whole thing. |
Ahh, that explains everything. |

| There's something important in Welcome To The NHK, but I'm not sure I know what it is. It's a stark and self-loathing work, and a criticism of hikkomori and Japan and geek culture, but I'm not sure that's what it is. |

P&Sw/G is awesome. I kind of hope we get some Stocking-centric storylines, because so far she hasn't really done anything horrible to anyone yet. _________________

Just marathoned Madoka. AWESOME. Good anime does, in fact, actually exist. _________________

End of Madoka aired. I'm actually kind of disappointed by how normal the ending is. I didn't sign on for hope and happy endings, I signed on for mindfuckery and bizarre imagery. _________________
