You can be an anime fan and not stand the terrible crap they shovel out, it just means there hasn't been made much in the past few years that you'll be able to tolerate.

That's true. I haven't even bothered with any new anime for over a year now.

Hey guys, I need the best anime of the last 18 months besides Kaiba. After a lengthy break I'm gonna try and get back in there.

Fuck anime fans who won't listen to reason that it's still fucking cartoons.

Virtual fist bump.

I still like cartoons though.

I love cartoons.

I also hate to think I used to be like that, but, shit, I was fourteen. I can blame puberty hormones. This specific person is 20.

He actually said "anime is clearly different and better than cartoons because it inspires such love from fans.."

counter-recommending anything with mecha in it; nothing makes me feel like more of an idiot for watching anime than mecha anime. are there any good, intelligent anime with mecha in them? i guess GitS might count on account of the fuchikomas/tachikoma

Macross Plus is great. Really. So is Big O!, for completely different reasons. Two of my favourites. Then again, the mecha aren't the most important parts of either show, really.

What was the concensus on Soul Eater, i understand its finished now?

It was really, really terrible. The first episode was pretty great for the novel designs and the rather well done action. Then the show when into a very steep nose dive when it tried to introduce additional characters and plot, culminating in a really very silly ending. Not silly in a good way.

It's not a good thing when shows like Bleach and Naruto are your betters.

Bleach is pretty entertaining for what it is.

The Fatal Fury anime was pretty great, especially the movie. So was Street Fighter II: The Animated movie.

But I guess TV series are whats being asked for.

Started watching Highschool of the Dead drunk last night. Seemed pretty good, tired of the fanservice almost immediately, though.

So anyone want to hook me up with Hourou Musuko in the non-streaming way? It sounds interesting, and I would like to see at least one new anime this year.
