I have seen lots of animes that I enjoyed mentioned so far in this thread and a few that I will probably have to check out... is it my imagination or has nobody mentioned Read or Die yet? It's one of my personal favorites, though I imagine that might just because I'm a sheltered american with horrible taste.
I recently watched Jin-Roh at a friend's house and was fairly impressed. I didn't see any mention of this one in the thread either and recommend it strongly if you are in the mood for a bad time. The ending made me very angry! KAEL SMASH.
Also reiterating previous recommendations of Anything By Satoshi Kon, along with Here and There Now and Then if you're in the mood for an anime that kicks you in the throat and then proceeds to rape your childhood. |

I torrented Monster and watched it over the last week or so. Now I can't wait to see how badly they butcher the live-action version, because the anime was AMAZING.
It's a bit slow at first, and a bit longer than I'd like, but the pacing and writing are generally excellent, and the music and artwork are above-average as well. I think I torrented it after seeing it recommended in this thread, so I'd like to thank whoever recommended it.
I think maybe I'll check out Dennou Coil next. |

That's the scary part! I'm pretty sure I only saw the original opening once when someone linked it in a thread here!
It's like a virus that's burrowed its way into my cranium! |

holy shit :(
I torrented the first few episodes of GL after finishing watching Haruhi and it is amazing! this thread rules
This reverse evangelion comment is pretty apt, by the way. I think it might be the best way to describe the series, at least so far. I love the fact that this series is able to take such a tired premise and do something interesting with it, and the pacing and writing are just plain excellent (with a few small exceptions) |

| Hrm. Is there a media player that renders soft subs as beautifully as Media Player Classic, yet doesn't crash when you look at it funny? Not too fond of the separate GUI shit that VLC and BSPlayer incorporate, either. |
The 'Zoom Player' app that comes with the CCCP codec pack seems to have pretty good soft sub support, but I'm not sure if it's any more stable (I don't use it).
GL27 was pretty amazing! I was really enjoying the series all the way through, but the ending was much better than what I was expecting out of a series like it. It's nice to have a series that's so fun to watch but still has a good amount of depth to it. |
