Sigh. No, Dracko. I should not have to go to Amazon and buy clunky old used disc versions and have to patch them and worry about compatibility or whatever when the fucking content is right there on Steam.

If I understand you, that is kind, but it wouldn't be fair to you, would it? You could just buy the new edition yourself and have the full package. |

Why not? I thought you wanted the original games. _________________

Do you know for sure if this pack is eligible for that feature? Or, I dunno. I forget how it works. I might do that for a friend (or you if you actually want them and weren't just being snarky) if so. |

It says it on the order page so I assume it's true and yeah I actually don't have a copy of the HD version.

This is not the developer's, publisher's or distributor's fault. |
Yes, it is. It's poor business ethics. You just accept it because it's normal. That doesn't make it okay. You should be advocating more options for consumers, too; it's in your own damned best interest. |

"Hey, Croteam. I see you've released an HD remake of your eight year old game. Would you mind patching my original copy with the exact same functionality?"
Seriously, man. You're delusional. _________________

Holy fucking shit, dude. What I want is to be able to pay like $3 or $7.50 or whatever on Steam and have the original versions appear in my library list the same way they do for anyone buying the new gold edition. I don't want your asinine alternatives that you keep offering to intentionally dodge my point. |

You don't have a point: You're bitching you missed out on a fucking special offer, because somehow your library - and by extension, you - feels incomplete without shit you don't even bloody want. _________________

The point is that the special offer alienates me as a paying customer. What is the matter with you? |

No, it alienates you as a guy with irrational collector issues and the entitlement issues (and possibly financial self-control) of a teenager.
You paid the accepted price for the product that you wanted at the time as it was available. You were not under any obligation whatsoever to do this. You could have waited for a better one to show up, but you wanted those items right then.
That's it. That's the end of that contract. They don't owe you jack shit beyond that.
The fact that this needs to be explained to an adult is terrifying. _________________

No, they don't owe me, jackass, but they should give me the option to fucking pay them for the stuff I don't have and only the stuff I don't have. Your entire argument is bizarrely predicated upon an old world retail paradigm. Have you heard of DLC, or do you still do all your shopping in an appliance store? |

And no one is stopping you from buying them.
You could even send your spare HD copies to people after settling on what a fair price for them would be and having them pay you via PayPal. What a wondrous age we live in!

I feel kind of guilty for Lords of Shadow because I've been saying since 2005 that Castlevania needs a God of War style remake and now it's actually happening.
I'm so sorry guys. Though have you seen those videos of environmental exploration? That kind of thing is exactly what I meant. _________________

Lords of Shadow producer Joystiq Interview excerpt:
| Quote: |
People have compared the game's combat to that of the God of War series. The platforming is similar to Tomb Raider. Some of the boss fights are highly reminiscent of Shadow of the Colossus. Are these reference points that were actively considered throughout development?
No, the phenomenon of games is ... In the movie business, people don't go up to Scorsese and say, "Hey, Goodfellas is a lot like Godfather." It's something I find a bit irritating, but I understand why people do it. I think people are inspired by other people's work. I think we should remember that Castlevania was doing many of these things that many of these games are doing 10, 15 years before they were.
We've certainly taken inspiration from the original Castlevania. We tried to create an action platformer that people, today's gamers, can understand. I don't think the comparisons are warranted. I think when people play the game properly, get into it, they're going to see they're very different games, hopefully. |
...
I hope someone from SCEA America connected to Team ICO fires back at this guy. I know the actual Japanese Team ICO won't. But I mean come on man seriously. |

Ha ha this dude has no idea how the movie industry works if he thinks Scorsese wasn't getting questions like that back in 1990. |

Surprise surprise, I haven't realised, since nobody told me, which, in turn, means that people play it, since they have no time to tell me. Couldn't care less though… _________________

White Wolf have demonstrated a complete misunderstanding of why one would do just that in the tabletop game. Hunter the Reckoning is markedly the worst line they released, almost entirely because the rules sabotage the concept. Ostensibly it is about human supernatural hunters, but everyone gets regular old superpowers anyway so what's even the point.
So what I'm saying is even if the option is there, it's not really. _________________
