better cgi than 2046, at least. this movie is going to rule so hard.
also if you can find the leaked amazing spider man trailer, note the last sequence's clear debt to mirror's edge. cool. _________________ The text will not live forever. The cup are small |

ugh yeah i am pissed for missing true legend when it was playing here. i guess you're right about the choreography but for me the water kind of kept it interesting. i think this one is promising because it's an interesting subject (the fact that there are already, what, 3+ movies about ip man released recently notwithstanding) and the cast is good. it is a weird sign that the trailer is focusing on the action, but i'm still assuming the actual fight scenes will be sort of an afterthought. _________________ The text will not live forever. the villain is 'the red skull', captain america's original nemesis since time immemorial. in this version he heads up some kind of super secret nazi science division called hydra, and considers hitler too unambitious so he actually ends up having very little to do with actual nazis. though everyone says "heil hydra" all the time. the movie is weirdly devoid of swastikas, as though putting too many of them in a movie would guarantee you an R rating or something like that. i have to say it is the most complete-feeling of any post-iron man (1) marvel movie, but still feels more like the first part of a serial than an actual complete story. i enjoyed the supporting cast a lot, but i don't know if it has anything to recommend to anyone who hasn't already made an unholy oath to see every marvel film released. _________________ The text will not live forever. Robocop 2 is fantastic, engaging satirical propaganda. One of the best movies of its kind. _________________ The text will not live forever. The cup are small |

i finally saw tree of life!
for the first half i was fully convinced of malick's genius, but the ending of the film really really turned me off. it was still a worthwhile experience, if only because i enjoyed imagining traveling back in time to 1986 with this film and trying to convince everyone that it was what all movies would be like in 2011. maybe next decade! _________________ The text will not live forever. yeah ok, i'll bite |
hopefully they'll find something better for him to do than be the butt of a bunch of short jokes? donnie yen does seem to fit in with the rest of the expendables cast a little bit more. i wonder if he and jason statham will have a staring contest _________________ The text will not live forever. attack the block was also pretty cool. definitely deserves a wider release than what it is currently getting, for sure. nearly empty theater (and the only screening of the day), too, and i haven't seen a single ad for it anywhere. sad when movies just sort of get dumped like that _________________ The text will not live forever. going to see steven soderbergh's "CONTAGION" friday night because: why not!
then, to maintain my street cred i am going to go see a remastered "the man who fell to earth" on saturday night at the landmark theater in berkeley! it's a pretty hokey film, though it should be awesome to see it in a nice theater. |
i enjoy this movie, it lasts fooorrreevvverr, especially if you do it as a midnight screening. it. just. keeps. going. _________________ The text will not live forever. The cup are small |

it makes you feel like Funny People has exploded and taken over the real world, like we are living in the New Nightmare-version of reality and a demon has crossed over into our dimension and taken the form of Adam Sandler to destroy us. _________________ The text will not live forever. yeah my initial impression of that movie is the ability to enjoy it may be based on how much one appreciated nineties thriller 'the good son' _________________ The text will not live forever. The cup are small |
