So this guy finished a webcomic called Aki Alliance. His art is a little... well, stiff and set in its ways, and the characters aren't all that sympathetic, but you might like it for the zany schemes, of which there are a few.

So apparently the Bear & Kitten strips are still on the website - just that the PHP pages are broken forever. So, if you want to get the strips, you'll have to type in the image URLs manually. Here's one to start off: http://south20th.com/strips/2007-09-19.jpg

Also, apparently the ANGER MAN comic mentioned on page 2 of this thread got archived by the Wayback Machine.

This might be the best comic he has ever done.

Every so often you get a strip where the punchline just snaps like a firecracker.

I dunno, it just seems like it isn't going anywhere, or that it isn't building up to anything particularly extraordinary.

This isn't that interesting at the moment, but I suddenly appreciated how Zelda (and I'm not sure what else) has pluralised the original Sword in the Stone image, such that it is no longer the iconic image of a specific Arthurian tale, but merely a standard fantasy trope. It's much like how La Mulana pluralised the "sand pouch counterweight" scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark by making sand pouches a standard item and weighted pedestals a generic puzzle element.

They expect people to have professionalism, which is to say, evidence of constant self-improvement, a respect for the craft, a respect for their audience, and the absence of downright odious views and opinions. Most of those that the site lambasts are lacking in at least some of those qualities.

The thing is, that website is actually an imitation of a significantly older blog by a single individual ("John Solomon", fuegofish on Something Awful) that has since been deleted. So, the articles are written in mimickry of a memory of someone who was, perhaps, more in control of the faculties of hyperbole, emotion, and conveyance of an argument.

Gorblax I don't want to turn on curation powers so please replace the vital top-of-the-page post with this:

The thing about Faith Erin Hicks's work that I've seen is that sometimes it gets a little... dry. A scant bit too much telling vs. showing, sometimes. This thing, however, starts to pick up as it hits this page.

At the beginning...

...of Problem Sleuth!

But, I don't know which part in particular you regard as "the slow start". Did you quit here? Or around here? If it was here then I'd have expected the sudden change in fortunes to seize your interest.

No, not really, but a familiarity with the tone and feel of Problem Sleuth can provide insight into what Homestuck is, and, more specifically, what it grew out from.

However, there are quite a few substantial references to some of these PS extras (but not the last two - those are Homestuck extras and might contain spoilers).

If you're starting PS just keep going until you get to the bit with the woodwind instrument; that's always a killer.

In homestuck I got to the intermission part where it looks like a PS riff but everyone has a suit of cards and they are shooting clocks, and I am seriously getting tired of the inventory management shenanigans.
You'll be glad to hear those basically vanish entirely from then on (except for the occasional "remember those crazy inventory japes?" call-back joke every so often).

Anyway you don't really need to pay close attention to the intermission except for here, here, here and everything from here to the end.

Chainsawsuit occasionally hits this finely balanced 'sweet spot' of stupidity which inexplicably produces some of its best strips.

It's been three months since this, the lastest The Secret Knots episode, was published. However, it was published three months after the one that came before that. Let's not worry just yet...?

I'm told you should think of this as a live-action Pictures for Sad Children episode: http://vimeo.com/29010929
