I just now signed up and haven't fooled around with it much, but I think having a way to export your ratings would be nice. I tend to feel a bit reserved about putting a lot of information into any database that isn't tied to my own site or backed up by me somehow. That's not to say I won't use it, but it's nice to be able save a list of my data.
edit(s):
How are you treating DLC like GTA4's Lost and the Damned and the Ballad of Gay Tony? Those are just examples.
N+ for DS and PSP are very different.
Do you do any notifications when/if submitted games are added? I'd like to know what to come back and rate, but I wasn't keeping track of my submissions. |

No, but I need to add that! |
Also, what if people can give their rating when they submit. If and when you accept the game, it immediately becomes rated by them. |

I'm definitely enjoying playing with the system. It's recommending me a bunch of stuff with which I'm unfamiliar - Mushihime-sama Futari, Espgaluda II Black Label, Ninja Bros. 忍者ブラザーズ, Jazz Jackrabbit 2: The Secret Files, and Johnny Platform's Biscuit Romp are my top five. I should try some of the games it recommends to see how good it's doing.
I ended up not sleeping much last night because I was rating games late. I seem to have an obsession with list-keeping and stat tracking. I keep my game information on my own site (http://www.webpageless.net/gaming/games.shtml), which isn't pretty but is made just for myself.
Now, which 136 games were those that I submitted so I can go rate them... |

| I don't know much about Decide-o-tron, but I know that reccr has shown me great games and been a pleasure to use. |

| Just yesterday I was playing one of the top games reccr suggested for me - Johnny Platform's Biscuit Romp. What a really terrific game. I think I'm near the end. I plan on finishing it up this weekend. |

| I was (and still am) really hoping it's temporary, but it's been down for a few days now. I hope it's coming back! |

luvcraft, when you said reccr failed, are you saying that it's actually dead? I've been wondering why it's been down lately (although I see it's up right now), and I hope that's not the case. I'm a huge gamer, and I don't buy all the new games. In fact, there are a ton of huge franchises that I have no interest in touching at all while I still consider myself to be a video game enthusiast. I loved reccr.
I write for a site called Game Boyz (I didn't name it...) doing primarily iOS reviews, but I plugged reccr there almost a year ago. |

| Are the majority of people using it people to whom you're connected in some way (like through SB)? |

No. There are currently 785 total users (there were over a thousand before I purged users who hadn't rated any games). Of those about 60 have been on in the last month. Of the 785 only about 50-100 are friends, and most of the users who are friends have only used it once. |
Interesting stats, and not what I was expecting. Thanks for sharing. |

were you expecting higher or lower? You, by the way, have the fourth highest number of rated games. I'm ninth. |
Once we were on the topic of reccr being a failure, I was then expecting (not hoping) that you were going to say the majority of people using it were people you know. I'm glad that's not the case.
I've always had a thing for tracking progress and statistics. I don't know why. Sometimes it can be a bit troublesome because I tend to look at things from a "how can I record or count this experience," which isn't a good way to live life. I've been keeping a list of games I've completed since I was in elementary school. It started as a folded up piece of paper I'd keep on me.
I don't know what's wrong with me, but I've tamed it quite a bit.
By the way, for a while I was worried that I flooding reccr with little iOS games rather than more full-fledged titles!
edit: erm... how many more do I have to rate to have rated the most? heh |

No warning for us to at least copy down its top recommendations for us even?! (I kid.)
It was a good experiment. I'm sorry more people didn't use it, because I sure promoted it to people. I thought it was really useful (and fun).
(I really loved In the Pit too, so maybe I should keep a closer eye on your projects.) |

I did a backup of one of my sites the same day the database got corrupted. Sometimes good luck comes with the bad luck.
I might go. I've been really busy the past month or so, and I might take the afternoon off (after a 5K in the morning). LA is just far enough from Irvine to be annoying. Do you have a way I can contact you on Saturday if I decide to head up? |
