This is neat. I kind of wish the little PS3 logo was the newer, nicer slim version and not the ugly Spider-man font. Small nitpick.

Rating lots of stuff!

Clearest I can find on a quick google search. You'll see this logo on newer games, and the PS3 slim.

You weren't wrong or anything -- just a personal taste thing and a suggestion. Everything looks great, otherwise.

Also: might you be adding the PC format at any time, or is this going to be strictly console-focused?

Also wondering: what about allowing users to rank a specific, say, top 5? Or top 10, 20, whatever?

Just something to increase the specificity of the recs.

That said, are ratings compared from user to user, or just between how similarly games are ranked?

I get some odd recs, e.g. "If you like Ico, you might like Rock Band 3...!"

If you didn't realize, you probably didn't use the site -- in which case, why would you care at all?

I just signed back in via twitter since the facebook login was giving me this message:

Code:
{
   "error": {
      "type": "OAuthException",
      "message": "Invalid redirect_uri: Given URL is not allowed by the Application configuration."
   }
}

It worked fine the first time, though.

I had about 40 users on there before I posted it here on SB, but you guys have been a lot more active than most of those previous users (which I greatly appreciate! :) ), so now the recommendations are WAY more SB-leaning than they were before. I'm totally fine with that, though, and I'm sure that as more users sign up it'll trend in other directions.

An idea: allow users to view each others' profiles and invite to groups...? For an (obvious) example, we could have a group for SBers -- and groups could generate their very own recs for the user viewing it. Possible? I might be interesting to be able to seek out more tailored recs beyond those drawn from the collective pool of all users. Maybe something to consider implementing in the future, anyway.

Cool. If you're going to do that, how about Steam as a platform, too?

My top rec'd game is currently Uncharted 2. For some reason I don't really trust this...!

It is also telling me that I should play Digital Devil Saga, but I think I'm more interested in Persona 4.

Better than forums would be user profile pages with last.fm-style shoutboxes and lists of rated games. Leaving notes on game pages would be good, too.

imo

On the other hand, you obviously don't want this to be playfire, but it could do a few of the things that site does and do them much better.

I think the Dreamcast was one of the "older consoles" we were asking if you planned to add. :)

Dreamcast was kind of a "tween" console, not really part of any generation. Which is why I guess no one mentioned it specifically.

How can I add Android to a game that appears to only allow me to check non-portable platforms?

http://reccr.com/corrections/new?game_id=2803

Pac-Man CE is also available for the Android... Should I just make a separate entry?

Just throwing in a vote saying I think the image sizing is fine as it is. I like seeing the whole cover, nice and big.

My recs are fairly similar.

1. Armored Core: For Answer
2. GTA IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony
3. Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts
4. Monster Hunter Freedom Unite
5. Gravity Bone
6. Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor
7. Tomba!
8. bit Generations: Soundvoyager
9. Saira
10. Space Funeral

Interesting that The Ballad of Gay Tony is up there, but not The Lost and the Damned. Will try them both soon enough...!

Is that the best Monster Hunter title? I don't have a PSP, but I might like to try one of those some time.

Is there any way to change the twitter account I have connected to my reccr account?

This is kind of silly when adding a game like Terraria, which is obviously an indie-developed game that just happens to be available on Steam.

I thought I'd mentioned this upstream in this thread, but maybe not, so I'll say it again.

the "Indie" platform is entirely about distribution model, and only exists because when games include "Windows" as a platform reccr automatically adds a "find this game on Amazon" link to the game's details page, and someone threw a fit when she saw that link on the page for Knytt.

If you guys think the awkwardness of the separate "indie" platform is worse than the awkwardness of reccr automatically adding an Amazon link for indie games that aren't on Amazon, though, let me know. If there's enough hate for the "indie" platform I'll just ditch it and move all of those games over to the Windows platform.

Hm. Well, Terraria is available on Steam, but not on Amazon. I suppose I don't care that much, just thought you might want to be aware.

One other suggestion: allow us to view our saved queue in an order according to their recommendation? You know, as if they're still on our recommendations page, but just the games we've singled out.

Either way I'll stick with reccr because it's not branded by Penny Arcade.

Been getting a bit more use and enjoyment out of this site since tweaking my ratings and ignoring a ton of games. My recs are actually full of games I want to play, now.

A couple of questions, though: would it be too difficult to allow half-heart ratings (so I could rate something a 3.5 for example) or extend the recs list to more than only 4 pages?

I think I uploaded Japanese cover art before just because I think it's nicer, but — whatever works best.

Aw, heh, the 360 cover for Dark Souls was fine. I mean, it wasn't about console rivalry, or anything, I just think the art itself for the cover I linked is the best of the various covers the game has from place to place. No worries, though.

100 recommendations is a lot, yeah. I'm mostly just curious about what else my list might show, but if you'd rather leave it at 4 pages then I have no complaints.

Oh, and I agree about FF6, though I guess if there's any reason to include FF3US on there it's because of the translation different from later versions of FF6 we saw in the US. Not really a big deal, I suppose.

There's probably no good reason to get hung up on such details as far as Reccr is concerned.

I'm not sure about the PSX port of FFVI. Pretty sure that the GBA version has an entirely redone translation, that one actually does have a separate entry on Reccr.
