It really has me excited for TTT2. The Demo was a lot of fun. |
In a spur of the moment decision I pre-ordered TTT2, so I will see you on the (PS3) battlefield in 3 weeks. |

Has everyone jumped on that JoJo's port yet?
It's pretty good! All the characters from both games unlocked from the start, restored gore (make sure to enable it in the menu). The lame copyright-dodging names are still there, but at least everyone doesn't "sweat" profusely now. Fair trade-off.
HD filter looks shitty but that's pretty much to be expected. |

i'm fairly hype for it, but i don't play ps3 games or fighting games these days. but conceptually, i'm rather hype. if it was $10 i'd buy it and never play it, like vf5fs.
i did consider buying it only to play as petshop, i still might. _________________

it's a slightly modified rom with bugs intact and terrible MVC3-like netcode. For $20. |

I viciously beat a dude at JoJo in an arcade in Tokyo a few weeks ago. I think every arcade I went to had at least one JoJo machine. _________________

It looks like the upstanding dude at Nicalis has picked up "Yata," aka Yatagarasu, the cool doujin 3S clone, for a Western release. http://vimeo.com/47897199
You may remember Nicalis as the company that released a variety of hella-buggy ports of Cave Story on various platforms which included fan mods to the freeware version as "bonus features" without permission, and the company that jerked the La Mulana developers around for months about how the process of getting approved for WiiWare in the US was not proceeding. _________________

Sorry things have been so quiet since Evolution 2012! I can now report that the Skullgirls patch has been submitted to Konami for testing.
To thank you for your patience and support, the patch will unlock three colors per character, free, in addition to all the other changes! You can read the huge list of "unofficial" patch notes here. |

Season's Beatings is less than a month away! Do we have an official SB headcount yet? We've got at least 5 guys from the KC crew headed up there. _________________

i will showcase modok mirrors all day on sunday on stream 2 (unless y'know he's in finals) :p i gotta find when he's flying in first. he's gonna be here for like a week and a half. i don't know why he's flying in so early. the mexicans (team azteca) are surprisingly organized for a scene.
funfact: many of them DO NOT play KoF
also funfact: poverty fighters the world over. just because they're international doesn't make them any more well off or more timely with correspondence than our esport champions. at least when it comes to the not-so-famous faces _________________

where is the aquapazza tournament
Are tournament prices based popularity? I was curious about MK being $20 alongside SF and MvC. I actually have family in Ohio but apparently Cincinnati is farther from the venue than I hoped it would be. I also wouldn't be looking forward to a solo 10 hour drive. |

Yes pots are based on number of entrants. We expect to have a $5000 total pot for the capcom games. MK9 being $20 is at request of top players. I now any main games have a pot of at least $1000 guaranteed. Personally, I am looking forward to KoF as I will get to watch the rematch of Bala and MadKoF in person <3
And unfortunately, Cincinnati is as far from Cleveland as it could possibly be and still be in Ohio :( If it wasn't I would go to Arcade Legacy down there much more often.
There is a lot more room this year. So unlike at MoMo there should be enough space for side tourneys and a BYOC area. _________________

Okay let's get serious: did anyone here buy Aquapazza? It's the newest fighter by Examu whose PS3 port came out this past Thursday in Japan. It eschews Examu's exploration of aerial movement seen in Arcana Heart and Daemon Bride for a significantly more grounded experience, but it feels like a very solid game. It's main gimmicks are the partner system and the emotion gauge, the former of which is equivalent to KOF strikers albeit a bit more versatile and the latter of which is the game's take on negative penalties. Being very offensive can grant you an attack boost, being defensive can grant you a defense decrease and making it easier to get your guard broken. The game also distributes movement options between characters rather than granting universal super jumps, short hops, etc., along with other abilities. I've only played a few characters so far but there seems to be a good variety. Attacks have a good sense of weight and "oomph" to the impacts, the special effects are flashy but unobtrusive, and the the colors are vibrant. The backgrounds are even animated, a first for Examu!
I haven't spent too much time exploring the game but it seems really fun. If you haven't seen the game before you can find videos at the usual Youtube channels (kouhatsu, game a-cho, guardcancel). |

Probably the most awkward, sloppiest, hilarious, and wonderful-run emulator nick arcade charity going on team spooky right now.
This is soo horrible and great for the right and wrong reasons.

Oh my lord, Nerdjosh and his GF pitted against each other in losers, stream monsters got to choose if they were to play Final Zone 2 or.... Fausette Amour?? Dear god if the second one actually got picked. wow....
And the game crashes on Final Zone.
This is the glorious trainwreck. |

Good god, the Final Zone 2 bit is/was amazing, between the level of play and the music. And then we get a cutscene with acting.
Oh man, Ai Cho Aniki might be coming up _________________

They spent twenty minutes not getting Twinkle Star Sprites to work, so they have to play Alzadick. Spooky is pissed, this is the greatest...
I don't think Funkdoc will be running another one of these again.

Akihiko is a lot tougher to make work than many in the cast, but he can be really annoying to deal with once he's moved in and his extremely high damage output makes your screw-ups really painful.
He needs to ditch Caeser, though. His Persona's gimmick is the only one which just doesn't work at all. It's an odd moment of Blazblue Design(tm) in an otherwise much more grounded game. _________________

| Yeah it's absolutely puny compared to the rest of the cast. Probably a knee-jerk reaction to her overwhelmingly being the strongest character in the E3 build but I'm sure she's been balanced further since Gamescom, so who knows what she's like now? And signs are pointing to Pai not being in the game anymore so :(. You still have Alpha-152! |

Guess I'll pick it up whenever they add her via DLC or what not.
Actually, I use Ayane in DOA games anyway so I guess I could pick it up... but... who even plays DOA? _________________

| The brought a test build of DOA5 to our monthly series last time and I played a few games with Zack (the ridiculous, racist African-American caricature). I really disliked the game; went straight back to VF. |

Don't be coy now Persona! A while back you already admitted to liking DOA! So did a lot of other people.
Well since we're already on the topic of buying stuff, let's get serious: who here is actually buying Tekken and DOA? I've got nothing else this year to buy except One Piece Musou and I've got a passing interest in both games so I have them both on pre-order for PS3. Tekken comes out next week with a whole slew of pre-order bonuses (4 DLC characters, bikini bundle, Snoop Lion stage, some sort of documentary, and more stuff). Supposedly the characters will be released as free DLC sometime down the line but I don't know about the others. I'm terrible at Korean backdashing so I have no chance of ever being competitive at the game but it should hopefully still be entertaining in a semi-casual manner.
DOA has some pre-order bonuses and a Gamestop exclusive collectors edition but I'm just getting the regular one. It seems like a mixed bag as far as the system changes go but overall the impressions of it are favorable. There's a lot of footage of a recent build of the game from the IPL tournament and Summer Jam so you can get an idea of what it looks like nowdays. |

I do like DOA! But after getting it on 3DS and realizing I don't have anyone to play it with unlike when I was younger, I'm really left wondering what the point is unless the netplay is really good.
Also, what's a Korean backdash? _________________

I'm not planning on picking either up. I don't have enough time to put into all the fighting games I own and want to play as it is.
And I still haven't even gotten around to picking up VF :\
But who knows. Tekken looks pretty fun to play in a completely casual way. Maybe I'll get it when it's cheaper. |
