Yeah, I mean, I get it. There's no avoiding ten of them in a small room. |
Yeah there is. It's called "avoiding that room". I mean, I know what you were doing there, and now you never have to go back.
Dude go talk to frampt and the fog is gone, I think. Really, make getting rid of the fog a priority, or you are just going to keep running into it. |

Yeah, I hate it when these games fall into that kind of stuff. |

| Oh, I got that, no worries. And yeah, I have sorta hit the point in this game where making forward progress is beginning to feel like a chore, which is kinda annoying. Still planning on finishing it out eventually, but it just takes so much effort to get anywhere, and the end reward for a lot of it is just disappointing. I think I only have like 2 bosses left, though, so I will finish it out. |

| I feel like you're missing the point here, insisting that it's inelegant because it's placed there pretty much clearly as a reward for faith characters. Like it's some flaw the game "resorted" to. |
See, the thing is, I think I get his point, though, in that Dark Souls is much more built for "having a specific build to do X" whereas Demon's Souls was much more "anyone can do this, with the right skills". I don't think this really takes away from the game, but if you prized that about Demon's Souls, you are not going to be happy with Dark Souls. |

| i put them about equal on preference for me, but I was mostly just trying to explain a bit of how I took Flylighter's position. It's those optional things that stick for him, it seems. |

| I thought having maps was awfully convenient for, after finishing an area, learning if there was any important shit I missed. |

and yet nobody ever does this because it's clearly prohibitive at that point in the game. it's like a sort of "emergent" linearity. the game doesn't stop you from going to places very often but it certainly gently guides you along a preferred course. |
Didn't flylighter do this? Like, he talked about it in this thread.

| So what? Hidden shit is hidden. You don't need any of it. And it's fun to find, whether via messages or just clever exploring. If you really want that trophy or that one ring for whatever reason, yeah, consult a guide... when you're about to beat the game. I dunno, I just don't see any reason to look up all the hidden shit for each area as soon as you set foot in it. Like I found the hidden bonfires in Quelaag's and the Catacombs on my own but totally missed the one in Lost Izalith. Didn't affect my enjoyment of the game any. |
Man, there is some hidden shit in this game that is super useful. And as I said, that isn't how I used maps. I usually worked my way through an area on my own, and then after that went back to check for said hidden shit on a map, because I don't really feel like crawling all over the place to find every little thing.
And I consider checking a message board and talking about shit to be just about the same as looking at a guide map. You are still getting help from outside sources, and I think one of the better properties of these games is how they account for that, because having a guide doesn't make the game any easier at all, it just means you will eventually waste less time. |

Ugh this PC port is really annoying. I updated my drivers, and now DS doesn't work any more.
I'm reinstalling it again, this time having manually installed GFWL on my own.
Jesus fuck you From.
Edit: And installing DSFix's latest version fixed it. Ugh wtf. |

| The game is 7.50 on amazon (for a steam code) for at least the next few days. If anyone wants a PC copy, PM me and I will grab someone a copy, since someone got me a copy awhile back. |
