Quick, send ninjas to kill the new director

No well, this last bit Lasakon quoted is a pretty ugly obviously. The trailer is actually pretty bad, way too much personalization, but I'm not worried about that since it's done to sell it to dumb westerners. It's worrying to me that Miyazaki is not the director, I'd like to know if it was his very own decision or it was someone else's. Someone whom I can hunt down.

Yes I'm hella worried but I'm a pessimist so it's ok.

I want to elaborate my position because my last post might sound over-negative and desperate, I am not really able to get hot and bothered because of videogames at this age. Besides both DS games are for me so close to perfection that a disappointing DS2 wouldn't really matter all that much.

The teaser is ok, but it's not a good DS teaser. There's a complete lack of subtlety in it, there are direct, forced emotions of the characters that really don't work for me. The girl... this is the 1st time I think they indulged on character eyes. This is a bit difficult to articulate for me somehow, she is well done surely, but the amount of sadness those eyes express is just so... not DS. This will sound super dumb but maybe someone with a better grasp on english than me might articulate better.
But I'm not really worried by this, that's a teaser made to caught the attention of a wider market. But yes, the direct-not-subtle director, why he's working on a Souls game then? All I'd really like to know is if Miyazaki turned down the director's position or not. A negative answer would be certainly very explicative!

Actually the direct-not-subtle remark made me first think about how the story unfolds in DS games, which is to say it unfolds if you care enough to piece it together by items descriptions and little details. I doubt that would survive a direct-not-subtle treatment.

Anyway, teaser I know. Whatever. Will play next Miyazaki game anyway.

You need to learn his patterns to do better, but his weakest move is some sort of slowish roar thing that sends a large shockwave forward which you need to evade laterally, there's a decent window to do some damage. iirc he's strong to lighting and magic but weak to fire.

But yeah I'd suggest making a new thread for DS2, there are probably a few posts concerning DS that got lost in the last few pages.

Eh I soloed them too but as a first time I think it's also just kind of more climactic to have some help. You can have Solaire in this fight, and he tanks alright.

I really hope DS2 will be able to do without the "unavoidable" equipments, RoFP, Cling, Grass/Adjudicator Shield on everyone's back... from what I played of the beta I'd say the latter is looking good via mechanics(real dual wielding, power stance).

I had a low level boss/jester character, but it was either gank-town or the rare people that weren't up to the leet meta-game immediately assumed I was friendly so I just fooled around a bit and left a present. Better than nothing I guess.

you can get down somewhat safely from a pit accessible just before the last pre-boss fog... then again you gotta fall for a decent bit into a chute to reach that.

edit: same place as Ymer but reached differently, never checked that way! <3 Sen

-Ceaseless Discharge is actually one of the few characters the devs have given a plethora of fun things for. In addition to them confirming the sister/grave vigil, it was stated that you can "skip the fight" with him entirely. This led to some rampant exploration and some users figured out how to speed over the lava but that seemed more like an exploit than a secret. However, Ublug (a member here who is not so active these days) discovered that there's a way to skip the "fight" part. I was able to confirm the results although I don't think either one of us nailed down the particular times etc. but....

By standing around near the corpse without taking the armor for a loooooong time (I think the character I used put in well over an hour in the area) you can change the result of the encounter.

Things I'm not sure about:
1. How long you need to be in there exactly
2. If location other than "inside the fog gate" matters
3. What, if any, other factors play a role.

Anyway, the result is this: If you've done it right (there's a way to confirm you did it right which I'll get to) you can grab the armor. And Ceaseless will NOT attack you. He allows you to leave. Almost. Once you reach the fog gate he'll aggro. It's the only way to aggro him at that point too. I stood around shooting him with arrows and generally being a jerk to him and he never moved. Popular thought was that his leaping attack near the area is either a glitch or reward for being able to outrun him. However, if you do it this way (possibly the way it's intended since I think they made it harder to sprint away from an aggro'd Ceaseless with a patch) it looks like there's another purpose. When he leaps, if you stood still when he aggros, he WILL NOT hit you. What he does is block your way in both directions. Looking at his face they did an awesome job with expressions. He almost looks like he's pleading for death. Which is what you have to give him before you can leave.

How do you know if you did it right? Save and quit then reload your game. If you're outside the fog gate (like all the bosses if you quit on them) then you need to try again. If you're INSIDE the fog gate....enjoy.

I knew about the leaping stuff but didn't remember clearly, anyway I loaded a save with CD still alive and tried it, the normal way, grab the witch outfit and run asap. At the fog door he indeed blocks both ways which I didn't remember, and yeah I thought immediately that poster was making a big deal out of his expression that defaults to <:( anyway and I don't think can change at all.

What remains of that post that I'm still curious about is CD not aggro-ing till the fog door:

This would be another unintended bug, I'd tend to discount a straight lie because everything else after this matches what actually happens normally so it would not be a very tempting troll.
