except maybe going around killing everyone for their stuff. are there any consequences to that re: the ending/NG+? i didn't even fight priscilla because she didn't attack back. |
Try killing the princess. The effect on Anor Londo is pretty creepy and worth seeing. As a consequence, Frampt gets pissed and goes away, and Darkmoon covenant can target you, but that shouldn't be a big deal. |
Yeah, I like dark Anor Londo much much better. No annoying monsters, regular easy invasions. Just a good time for all. |

Considering it's lightning it probably just upgrades with twinkling titanite. Anything that upgrades that way caps at 5. The other demon weapons - the hammer, spear, and machete - upgrade like normal weapons and no specific blacksmith is needed any different than any other normal weapon. Your blacksmith is chosen by your upgrade path.
I taught my friend how to do a plunging attack on the stairs in Anor Londo. By that I mean, the large stairs in front of the castle. You don't actually fall, you just jump and it gives you enough air to mash out a plunging attack. We made pretty serious efforts to get the attacks off. He ended up laying out two guys in one with a plunging attack. It was great. Also he got the turn into a pot spell, which we used to fuck with people. Put the pot down right by their spawn - wait for them to approach it - I run up and maul them. Etc. |

| I don't really see a reason to start a newgame+ with any characters. I'm not sure why, but I just don't see what I have to gain by doing that. I mean, especially how much I manage my soul level in Dark Souls in a way I never did in Demon's. Intentionally not leveling up so that I can stay the average community level to participate in multiplayer. I dunno, maybe one day I'll see a reason. |

I feel bad about myself. |
Man, you're that guy. Weeeaaak. |
I'd be very surprised if you could do a legit quit while being invaded. Just summoning Solaire is enough to gray out the quit option in the menu.
(However, I am definitely the guy who always suicides next to his newly kindled bonfire when I am not ready to challenge the boss. I don't want to risk dying in an inconvenient spot!)
TXTSWORD, I assume your guy don't require twinkling titanite or other hard to find consumables? Going through a NG+ for the guaranteed items is more interesting than stabbing the same enemy hundreds of times. |
No, I mean twinkling is nice to have for my armor - but I'm pretty set on using the weapons that don't require demon or twinkling titanite now that I know the game and can plan my playthrough. Other than the gravelord sword that is - but there isn't much trouble getting enough titanite to level that to 5. I had the materials to make a +5 lightning weapon in a single playthrough without even actively pursuing anything. Also, didn't the translated patch notes say they're going to sell twinkling and some other materials at the giant blacksmith? I dunno like - since I made my current character to not worry about stats for scaling weapons since they just don't compare to bullshit lightning this character will suck anyways post-patch so I'll want to make a good cleric next that will use occult weapons and has high faith. I think the only thing that really requires a new game+ is the Gwyn stuff and the final upgrade of the light spear miracle. I MAY go for the upgraded light spear miracle for my cleric, so that would be a reason. |

| I'm not arguing that no one should new game+. Yeah, I hadn't considered the things you're mentioning Remote... but I guess if I wanted one instead of the other I would just do it on a new character. Same with discovering new places. And you sure can equip all of Smough's equipment on your first game! I did! Without his weapon I can cartwheel! |

| My post kill taunt is to attempt to use an unusable item repeatedly. It's the best emote in the game. In coop I managed a humanity stealing grapple on a pyromancer and my buddy stood beside us doing this taunt. Joy is the worst taunt because it ends in a little embarrassing shuffle back into normal stance. Also, a guy I cooped with last night made his character look like the joker. That is all. |

Seems like at low levels PvPers just abuse combustion. Neat.
I'm really ready for the patch to come out. I've made a divine pike+5 that I'm looking to take occult+5. I want to make sure I get the scaling upgrade from the patch though... and I'm not sure if I need to wait until the patch is out to make it or if it will just change with it :S Probably the latter but I want to be safe. I really like the pike - it's like the best chasedown weapon. It's running attack is a long as fuck spear-out 2x speed sprint jab mowdown thing. |

| Maybe he used the separation crystal because you guys killed the wrong dude first. I did that once, and made sure in the future to tell my team mates which one I was going for. I tried to coop with some people on Ornstein and Smough but it took so long for me to get summoned and the host got wrecked by smough immediately both times I actually got to play. |

| Man - I had an awful night with this game. I found myself on the wrong side of PvP constantly. Getting lag backstabbed and similar bs. Constantly matched up with people twice my level. This character build in general is starting to worry me - I have to put stats in too many areas it feels like and I accidentally skipped darkwraith covenant this time when I really wanted that armor since it's good and can be upgraded with twinkling. Also, kind of wanted the darksword. The way I skipped it isn't even by giving the lordvessel to frampt or anything... it's by accidentally skipping through dialogue too fast and sending him away forever. Ugh. |

I'm in ornstein's currently, which is working fine. I wish Dark Cleric's gear wasn't garbage.
I think I'm just going to put in the effort to get wrath of god before returning to level the darkmoon blades covenant so I can have something to abuse instead of just throwing myself against a wall of high leveled duos who are abusing plenty of shit of their own. |

Gearing up for my second playthrough, tackled Gwyn with Solaire and a fellow named Brad Madness, it was a quick fight. I'm sure it would have been drastically different solo. Now, upon lifting the veil of secrecy from my strategy guide and the internet, I missed a ton of crap, so plenty to do! |
Wait, you got Solaire with you for Gywn? I thought that required giving 30 humanity to Chaos Covenant to open the door to the place where he normally turns hollow? |
I attempted to do this... and IDK I left the covenant before I went to LI and the shortcut wasn't open. I'm not sure if you have to still be in the covenant or if I did something else wrong but I was none too pleased. |

Yeah, after the switches are taken care of you can get through the catacombs in a couple of falls. Considering I've rushed for the gravelord sword on 3 characters now - I'm learning the area pretty well. |

| Haha sorry, I was actually sort of joking. A friend of mine gets really mad about combustion. I for one never saw it as being any worse than all the other OP shit in the game and unlike crystal ring shield or homing soul mass it pretty much never one shot killed me. Additionally, it's the only really useful pyromancy skill that I can think of for PVP. |

| Started a new dude yesterday and, yeah, I was getting invaded in Undead Burg by people who were at least way way over equipped and likely over levelled. A guy comes in cartwheeling in havel's with a lightning katana and the pinwheel boss helmet, I backstab him 3 or 4 times and get some slashes on him and it nowhere close to kills him and then he kills me in a single swing followed by taunting my corpse. Completely pathetic. But anyways I leveled my dude to 40, used the black cleric gear except the body was switched out for the black sorceress or whatever gear. (My character was a female.) Fully levelled that shit up, got my bandit knife to +5 lightning, then my friend and I took all comers in the forest. Made for a pretty fun night. I was doing kinda shitty though considering my only real option was to backstab and I wasn't doing very good at that. I mean, I was only using dark hand as a shield so there was nothing stopping them from just mashing R1 if we got into a backstab standoff. A lot of the time I would get my friend to bow at the approaching opponent, they would bow back and while they were in the animation I would start tossing poison knives or dung pies at them. Honor is a coward's tool. |

It's like this, if you're going to be a lower lever - say - anything up to at least 100, you're a fool to get anything but a lightning/fire/chaos weapon. Here's the truth about those that no one really seems to discuss? Fire and Chaos are better than lightning but lightning is extremely easy to get.
Anyways, if you're going to keep leveling beyond 40, 50, or 60, then you should probably start working on something scaling or why are you leveling? If you're making a PVP character for low levels you should just meet your weapon requirements, meet your weight requirements via endurance, and then pour into vitality for the remaining levels and get a lightning/fire/chaos weapon. (If you're any good at the game, Chaos is probably the best non-scaling as you should be holding onto 10 humanity basically the entire playthrough). If you want to go scaling you should build a scaling character that will eventually be pretty high level so that your scaling weapon will be better than a non scaling. From what I've seen, the higher level people are still just using lightning (Why are you leveling?) so you would likely have an edge for actually playing the game. |

| Trying to build a level 40-50 pike man. It's not working out considering how serious the investment in stats is for the pike. Additionally, a lot of endurance is necessary to make use of the feature I really liked in the pike. So there's not really any room for vitality. I dunno we'll see how it turns out. |

| I'm kind of extremely annoyed by these cool guys invading undead burg with insane gear and greater combustion who taunt after they gracelessly absorb your backstabs and blows only to one shot you with whatever OP shit they have on their dude. Seriously, it's just pathetic. I'm totally fine with being wrecked by invaders and shit at any point of the game - but intentionally making some super-dude to raid brand new characters in the burg with is just fucking pathetic. It can't be fun. |

On moveset quality rather than damage output: of you want a katana, the lightning pole (sold by Shiva in Blighttown after you join the forst covenant then you can buy it using souls and wield it to cut shit) is a really nice weapon. Disregard the description that says it breaks easily, you could easily run a level five times before needing repairs. The long range + the running attack blindsides many invaders.
The claymore is also pretty good. Much faster to swing than the name implies, horizontal and vertical options.
Make your first upgrade lightning. You'll have enough resources to make a weapon that scales with your main stat later. |
I'm particularly annoyed by it because I'm regularly starting new builds and some of them are garbage for PVE so I'd rather just summon up some dudes to help me with bosses so I can get to the point of the game that will actually be fun for me but hey nvm I'm getting one shotted and taunted by a cartwheeling havel combustion lightning+5 zweihander asshole. |
