oh no :(
i did this once too. |
and i did it on my sorcerer character, who would of course have the most use for it
you know what the Duke's Archives is? a total pain in the ass, that's what it is.
...
um, by my Knighthood i hesitate to ask, but...
could anyone spare a Moonlight Greatsword for a sorcerer in need? _________________

nah, you did good enough! i don't think most of the enemies in that area are particularly strong against fire anyway.

man, i was just coming here to post that. we need more comedy pvp builds.
i had a good time slaughtering stuff in the sewers with remote the other day. summoning friends in this game isn't quite as hard as i was expecting, these days! _________________

i wouldn't say that! i've been curious about that sword for a while myself, after seeing some sansvie videos of someone ruling with it. but yeah, i'm all for doing the co-op thing again! i'll see what i can do later this afternoon. _________________

some tips for the Bed of Chaos:
- the roots can be hit with arrows!
- if you have a shield with enough stability, you can just block one arm sweep, turn around to block the other, and then just jump onto the branch.
- the main "ring" on the floor where it does said arm sweeps also happens to be the only non-crumbling spot in the arena. _________________

1) Sort of. It's largely dependent on the actions you take, though. Specifically: pyro guy leaves after you join the spider lady, magic guy leaves when you buy all his spells, and faith guy leaves for a bit and then comes back, but, um, you won't want him to stay too long, if you know what I mean.
2) Feeding titanite just splits it into smaller shards. I don't think it's really worth it, you should get enough just going around normally, I think.
3) Trash away! Unless you feel like getting everything to +10 and showing off. #notthatideverdothat _________________

i think it's both, yeah. i was kind of being vague since i wasn't sure how much he wanted to know about it. as long as you keep answering "no" to his question, he'll stay at Firelink.
and yeah: King's Field IV is pretty amazing. shame about the movement speed though (who the hell takes ten whole seconds to do a 180-degree turn) _________________

me too! it was pretty fun, mostly just me and remote rambling about music and making fun of people's usernames ("TheStoner420" (no, i am not kidding)). there were a lot of weird connection issues, though - a couple of invaders were visible on his screen but not on mine, and a couple more just stood there, unmoving, until we took pity on their plight and mercy killed them. the climax: me, in my newly-ill-gotten brass armor, going fists-only against a kid with a kite shield and a Drake Sword. i won, but only barely, and i daresay he deserved it more than i did.
i'm kind of looking forward to doing it some more! this pvp business is some fun, i'd say. _________________

took my ~350,000 souls gained from being a forest jerk and went on a shopping spree: two Uchigatanas, two Washing Poles, one Demon Spear, one Demon's Greataxe, one East Wood Grain Ring, all of Griggs' spells (and his rings), every armor set Domhnall had for sale and a whole pile of poison knives. then i joined the forest clan and proceeded to get my face wrecked. penance, i guess?
so, um, yeah, Short Version: remote, next time we meet, i have an extra Washing Pole if you still want one. _________________

eh, i guess i don't really have a problem with the concept of a dedicated pvp area. people have been wanting one and trying to find makeshift ones since the game's release. my one complaint would be that it seems a bit spartan and bare-bones, and the article linked in that video raises an interesting point re: all of the communally-accepted pvp arenas (the forest, the painted world, the Undead Burg) having escape routes and variable surroundings, which could mean life or death for a statistically-disadvantaged player. still, i guess it's only pointless at worst, and it seems easy enough to ignore.
there's some video out of the early dlc areas, and man oh man this looks exciting. the new boss they had on display (Knight Artorias) looks brutal as hell. _________________

so, uh, yeah, a huge caveat emptor re: that graphic. _________________

question for Pro Players (Apol, etc.): is Karmic Justice all that useful for killing early-area troll invaders? are there any other methods open to a beginning player? i was watching some sansvie video of someone putting Karmic Justice to good use in going kamikaze on the people they were invading, which gave me the idea. _________________

who cares about the shitty NPC AI in the forest? we need to know if the bb glitch/dragon head glitch/bb 99 items glitches still work!
if they don't that means they're gonna be patched out on the console dlc
edit: i care because if they do i need to go ahead and get my permanent 10 characters ready since the days of being able to make a new and interesting pvp build every other day will be over |
most sources i've been investigating say the bb and dragon head glitches are gone now. not sure about the 99 items one.

Well, I'm at the Kiln now. For my next character I'm thinking of doing a "play the early game how it was meant to be played" run:
- No Gravelord sword
- No Ring of Favor and Protection
- No entering Drake Valley until getting to the swamp the long way
I'm worried about Capra Demon though. I still don't have a reliable trick to deal with him, if I go in there with +5 weapon and low VIT/armor I'll probably get eaten alive and have to try again 20 times just like any beginner. I'm wondering if anybody has had luck with Force for crowd control in there? My main concern is not getting mauled by the dogs as soon as I step through the fog gate.
EDIT: Wiki on Force says "Will not push back larger enemies such as the Capra Demon." so I'll take that as an anti-endorsement. |
do not be afraid! the first time i did the Capra Demon like this i was quaking with fear; the fight was over in a few minutes and i was like "that's it?" the key thing is to dodge roll your way to the top of the stairs as quickly as you can so you can separate the dogs from Capra; once they're taken care of, the rest is a breeze. don't be afraid to disengage your lock-on to get a better camera angle. i've usually been able to summon people right in front of the fog door, too, if you need the extra help. (i think the usual level for that boss is 20-25 or so.) just don't panic and you'll be fine! _________________

dude just go find Rickert and buy Heavy Soul Arrow, that and a normal soul arrow on follow-up should take care of the non-rapier knights if you've been focusing on intelligence
also i usually wait until Shiva and his bodyguard are in Blighttown and then lure one of the fire spiders over to do the dirty work (you can easily trick it into attacking from the other side of the wall)
i linked this on IRC a bit ago, but it's just too jaw-dropping to not link here (ignore the stupid title):

if you kill him after he goes hollow, a chest appears where he was selling spells that has the catalyst and his clothes in it. _________________

holeeeee shit just had my first gravelord experience in the tomb of the giants
i was sitting at the first bonfire waiting to get summoned on my strength/intelligence character, so i went up the ladder from it to see if there were any messages or signs (i wasn't sure about the quality of my connection), when i see the gravelord sign just sitting there
i decide to go ahead and invade him, and found him about where the sign was, wearing a family mask and wielding a black knight greataxe. we trade blows and he almost kills me, then he falls into Patches' pit trying to dodge my fireball
i run around to the other end's ladder to catch him, and try to chuck more fireballs at him from above. none of them hit and he just stands there, so i put some fire resin on my big huge stick (perfect for beating up skeletons), take a running jump off the ladder, and NAIL him with a plunging attack
he gets back up and tries to flee, but i catch up and do a backstab while he heals followed by a quick blow to finish him off
that was probably the most fun i've had in this game in a long time _________________
