I wasn't even aware there was a "regular edition," as all Amazon had for months was the collector's edition, and Gamestop told me that preordering automatically got me the collector's edition. I had no idea that it was the actual preorder bonus.

Just kind of sucks that everything except the art book is now a digital download. And you still get the steelbook case.

Price was the same regardless, so whatever.

You know, I hopped on the bandwagon when everyone was praising Demon's Souls and imported the Asian version. I never really did much with it, though, so I'm pretty much going into Dark Souls blind. It amazes me that something this fucking hard is so addicting. I can't count how many times the Taurus Demon killed me before I managed to beat him, but not once did I get frustrated or angry. Repeating the same area over and over again until I got it right never seemed like a bad idea.

Now I'm thinking maybe I should go back and play Demon's Souls for real.

So I decided to be a wuss and use the red dragon to my advantage. I let him roast the enemies on the bridge, go down to the bonfire to rest and regenerate enemies, go back up to let him roast some more. 300 souls each time. Not much, but I'm just too scared to keep making progress right now!

I just got the WEAPON AT RISK! warning for the first time.

So uh... what do I do about that?

Heh, yeah, that was a pretty stupid question. I went to the Undead Burg merchant right after posting that.

So I'm assuming the Drake Sword has terrible durability? Because I was using the shit out of an axe before and I never got the message that it was at risk. If a weapon breaks is it gone for good?

Really, my only complaint so far is that I'm an idiot and keep forgetting to close the menu, so I'll go into battle and get whomped because all actions are off while the menu is open.

Slowly chipping away at this. Kind of terrified of going into the area with the ghosts.

I have a couple of those Transient Curse items. The description says that the effects are temporary, but is that true, or do I need to go and rid myself of the curse like normal?

I had dreams (nightmares?) about this game last night. I just kept getting images of my warrior making rhythmic sword swings and there were, like, menus being scrolled thru and he kept running into new uncharted territory.

God, this game...

I tried to trick the Black Knight in the Undead Parish into frying himself in the fire where the armored boar is. He followed me down and then just sort of vanished once I took position behind the fire. Thinking he was long gone, I stepped away and a few seconds later I was attacked from behind. Damn near shit myself again. The Black Knights are a seriously intimidating presence, even with much larger and ferocious beasts lurking in every corner. I especially love how they immediately turn and slowly walk back to their posts after they've killed you.
