Bummer. Where did you read about this? |

So I've killed Gwyn yesterday and thought I should start following this thread now that spoilers aren't so much of a concern, and as soon I start reading there's talk of this Kaathe character I don't remember ever meeting (unless it's that wolf thing in the Darkroot Garden who asks you to join a covenant).
How many covenants are there, anyway? I've only found Way of White, Chaos Servant, Solaire's and the wolf-thing's. I thought I was being pretty thorough in my exploration but considering yesterday I was summoned to somebody's world where the Darkmoon Tomb bonfire had a secret tunnel I was unaware of and Anor Londo was much darker than in my game I must have fucked up pretty badly somewhere along the way, and I really don't want to use the guide for anything other than weapon derivation.

From what I understood, the input isn't delayed but effectively ignored until you input something else, eg, you ask for a light attack and nothing comes out, so you try to raise your shield instead because the window of opportunity's closed and then your light attack comes out. It's a fucking annoying sequence of NOW! > uhh? ... Guard! > ...Oh, right, this shit AGAIN!!! |

Thanks Toll and Cuba.
I had found the one that warps you to Nito's place (the one in the titanite demon corridor), but I only slept in it long enough to get an effect after having already gone through TotG and killing Nito. I'll keep a look out for the other.
Regarding the Pyro, is there any way of meeting him again at all after he leaves? I was searching for him in the swamp because I hadn't bought all his pyromancies and was attacked by an NPC looking suspiciously like him, near the place where the onion guy asks you for moss. |

A couple of questions:
1) Sometimes I get summoned to somebody's world and the host just wanders around the same place for 10 minutes refusing to do anything, while not being invaded that whole time. One of those times, I quit using the black crystal, put another summon sign down, and I was summoned to the same guy's world again but as an invader rather than a white phantom. A bug or something else I' not aware of?
2) In NG+ I talked to the wolf-thing behind the locked door in the Darkroot Garden and this time it's not letting me join the covenant. Also, it called me a caitiff. While I appreciate expanding my vocabulary, I'd prefer if it just gave me the option of joining the covenant like it did in my first game. |

Well, immediately after posting the question I accidentally one-shotted it with my broken Lightning Zweihander while fighting the axe-maniac. Thanks anyway! |

| 2) After this, rest at a bonfire, then return to the area. Go to the end of the cave at the end of the lake, and destroy a Golden golem. A woman named Dusk will pop out of it and thank you for helping her. |
Wait, what? I've just killed the Hydra in NG+ and searched for this cave and found nothing except for a message saing "Saint ahead". Is this something I need a ring for like opening the Darkmoon tunnel? How the hell do people find/figure this stuff out? I feel like I spend half of my time grinding my sword against walls hoping to find secrets yet somehow I managed to miss this, the Great Hollow/Ash Lake and Darkmoon at least.
Is there anything one can do to block invasions? For whatever reason 6 out of 7 attempts of my summoning white phantoms fail, which means sooner or later someone's going to invade me and take my precious humanity away. |

Thanks again, guys.

This is how I always play, I only change to human when I need help fighting a boss or to kindle a bonfire, and since I seldom summon anyone successfully it's just a matter of time until I'm invaded and killed (my survival rate in pvp manages to be even worse than my success rate in hosting a co-op session).
Do I miss anything important by being hollow virtually all the time apart from not being able to summon and not being invaded by NPC phantoms like Leeroy and Mildred? |

But... but... I'm a Chaos Servant, if I eat all the humanity, who will feed the horrible spider demigod Fair Lady?
Seriously though, I have a rather nasty death count so I don't think my fun will last long if I try to stay human at all times but I'll definitely consider it from now on. |

| Why not kill Ornstein first and go for Gwyndolin after you can warp between bonfires at will? Or is that not possible? |

Spoilers, obviously: You can't fight him in the archives tower, give up. Find a way out of the archives and keep playing the game. I could be more specific but this should be enough.
EDIT: notice that Seath is the only boss (that I know of, at least) where after traversing the white light you can exit through it again. That was what tipped me to give up. |

I'd like to hear more about this, since I'm about to fight him again and wouldn't mind cheesing it. |

Is your NAT type strict or whatever? I regularly get invaded when I'm human, too often for my liking actually. Having said that, I haven't turned on the 360 for about 2 weeks so if there has been a mass exodus I'm not aware of it yet. |

You think correctly, she says herself that The Witch of Izalith is her mother.
Man, I was a Chaos Servant for the longest time and had no idea one could figure out so much backstory about the Fair Lady/Quelaag/Blighttown, because, really, who would be foolish enough to get anywhere close the egg-bearers after the first time you kill one and are devoured by the rabid maggots? |

| It does not need to be in the quick slots. You do itin the large room with the magic sentinels before the boss fight. The game prompts you when you're there. |

| What everyone above me said, adding that the only thing I really wish I had known about is the stamina penalty for equipment load. If your load is less than 25% of your max, you move at full speed, 25~50% at half-speed, 50~100% slowly, and >100% barely move at all. Since I picked a knight, I thought my character was supposed to be always that slow for a very long time. |
