This is kind of stupidly incredible, though I wouldn't mind seeing it without ugly filters...

GOOD!
I had just assumed based on GTA4 and RDR that they'd throw something similarly pointless in there.

how is the multiplayer of GTA4 and RDR "pointless"? Because you didn't use it? |

No it's some top-down thing, the backwards slo-mo trailer game is (un?)dead Island or something. |

I tried both. If you take the "running toward the action" part of all online games and place the action several miles away you've got Rockstar's online games. This felt like a waste of time to me. No, I didn't play them very long, but this was my basic experience.

Sorry, it's not a remake, but a new game. Seems like it is supposed to come to Overclock, unless I'm reading it wrong. _________________

I think you are, but it's not your fault. The sentence is terribly written.
Devil Survivor 1 was a DS game.
Devil Survivor 2 is (confusingly) a DS game as well.
Devil Survivor Overclocked is the remake of DS1 for the 3DS.
The original paranthetical is only talking about DS1, not DS2 as near as I can tell. |

| No problem. Like I said, shitty writing leads to confusion. I had to read that sentence like 3 times to figure out what it was saying, and the only reason I could is that I remember when DS2 was announced, people around here just went "not on 3ds? wtf?" a lot. |

I found a lot of interesting experiences in the GTA IV multiplayer. I feel a lot of the suggested games were broken in various ways (mainly to do with lag & the deadliness of the gunplay) but a lot of fun could be had by messing about in the sandbox. I don't think the single player game would have been much improved by taking the resources used for multiplayer and diverting them to the main game. I am basing that reasoning on:
1) Some parts of the game engine still work the same as they did in GTA 3. For example, the second-to-last car you drove mysteriously disappears a lot of the time. If they haven't fixed that in like 7 years then a few more people aren't going to help.
2) I believe that netcode was already present, but non-functional, in GTA 3 (could be wrong on that) so it probably wasn't like they had to rewrite the whole thing. That statement probably makes some network programmer somewhere angry, but FUCK YOU for all the times you joined me as a spectator to a race already in progress. |

at least it's not IPAD ONLY like the dipshit made it for a while. I can't imagine this is working out for him. steam plug will probably help.
I do want to read it though. I read his final hours stuff back when it used to be on gamespot and they were the best articles on that site. |

Apparently there's an energing market for mixed media articles like that on tablets these days. I agree it's pointless on Steam without the appropriate interface, but at the same time all I remember about the release of the app was the baying of entitled manchildren about how they would never spend $500 or whatever to read the article. That was despite the fact that Geoff publicly stated he was going to do a wider release later but wanted to see if this was a potential money-spinner. |

I don't even want it that badly. I just think it's odd—though it does make a little more sense as an iPad app, I'll admit. Still seems like promo material they could be giving away. _________________

I haven't tried it myself, but know that, apart from the instructions they have on the blog (about where to find the Minecraft world folder, and the right texture pack) you'll need MCPatcher HD fix to change your texture resolution.
Anyone tried any other interesting Minecraft maps? |

Crimson Nocturnal, the translation group that made the SaGa 2 DS translation patch and was working on ones for SaGa 3 DS and Summon Night X, has thrown in the towel. The stated reason is, and I may be paraphrasing a bit, "some people are mean jerks".
(this may actually be just the feelings of the overly dramatic team leader, but he apparently held the team together)
over at the relevant romhacking.net topic, the dirt was:
suspicion!

| Without any background knowledge of the people in this group, I don't know what drama existed within the group, but I'm sure it must have been there. I've been in the emulation scene long enough to have seen it all. |

And you would be right.
As was mentioned before, this was a group that had such dissension that a guy literally quit over the ingame description of the Haniwa's Seven Sword.
Seriously.
It turned into a big drama fight over whether or not Japan existed in the SaGa II universe or not, with harsh words on all sides. |

| The design itself is a lot better than I expected, but, and this is admittedly judging the quality of R3 by assuming it will be the same as R2, it feels a little disingenuous as the game doesn't do a very good job evoking the era. Still, it's nice to see something distinctive and different. Hopefully the US has the same boxart, because R2's EU boxart was not the same as the US' one, and was also better. |

-Cool
-Quiet
-Cheap to produce
Pick two.
edit: there's a loophole which is employing big fans which move decent volumes of air while moving lazily for normal quiet operation but can rev up and get louder to move tons of air in a pinch but the catch is you want to package them in a reasonably-sized console. So while bigger fans aren't that much more expensive miniaturizing the rest of your hardware to accommodate them sure is.
