This kind of thing happens all the time, sadly. Just the nature of the community and the kind of people it tends to draw in, I think. |

| If you refuse to update the firmware, can you play the game if you turn off the network connection? |

There are reports coming in that its doing the same thing to older 360's, but then older 360's crash red ring at the hint of a slight breeze.
This is still hilarious though. Also seeing how many Sony fanboys are trying to claim that Rockstar are lying and its all their fault.
This generation just produces howler after howler. _________________

Bit of an update. Its not LA Noire doing it. It's the firmware.
The Curse Of Commander Zorg. |
It's even better - it's the firmware, when it's running the new encryption layer to prevent the jailbreak-style exploits. Older games games signed with 3.55 keys do not have this effect. So it seems that in the rush to make the system safer, they offloaded decoding duties to either a new SPU or the GPU and forgot that games might want to use those resources as well. |
Jesus, Sony, can you guys do anything right? _________________

hey Australian peeps (of which there seem to be a lot here these days): A friend at 2k Marin Canberra has pointed out to me that they're hiring a gameplay programmer. They're also hiring a level designer, a level architect, and a technical programming lead (whatever the hell that is) which you can find by doing some digging on their website.
This is the team who made the new XCOM; I don't know how involved they were in Bioshock 2. _________________

At this time, Rockstar Games and Sony can confirm that neither L.A. Noire or firmware update 3.61 are causing the PS3 hardware to overheat. We are both committed to working hard to find solutions to this and any issues that may arise. |

Actually announcing a game is so last-century. Instead, we have to have months worth of pointless, incredibly obvious teasers to "build hype" before we finally confirm the thing we've been saying the whole time. _________________

Oh, so that's what that email was.
Man, their advertising back in the PS1 Eternal Punishment era was better: just full color ads using Kaneko artwork. Good stuff. _________________

One of the features Konami has been promising for New Love Plus, the new 3DS entry in the Love Plus series, is data import, where you'll be able to carry over your data from DS titles Love Plus and Love Plus + to the 3DS. The company never provided specifics, saying that technical hurdles are requiring that it work with Nintendo for implementation.
It looks like whatever form the data import takes, it may end up requiring some extra cash on the part of the player. 4Gamer reports this today in its latest look at the game.
The site says that the game will require a special tool for the data import. Konami is hoping to sell this device for an extremely low price and is also considering including bonuses and other stuff so that players aren't buying the item just for carrying their data over. |

Oh good point - maybe it'll be a dual announcement of Solatorobo and P2. That'd be pretty good. _________________

Both! Nintendo won't let you "talk" between DS mode and 3DS mode. They did that with the GBA slot and the DS and it really didn't worked out for them. So, what Konami will sell is likely to be the equivalent of the NDS Backup Tool, a flashcard program that lets you do backups of your original games tru WiFi. You put it on the DS, then swap it for the Love Plus one, and off goes your make-believe girlfriend thru the aether. |

Are you sure it's Persona 2?
My personal belief is that this is actually a way of announcing Solatorobo, because the only two games mentioned in the email are Ogre Battle 64 (which I think is just a joke about how long that goddamn game took to come out) and Tail Concerto, which is a prequel (of sorts) to Solatorobo. And Tail Concerto was released in the year 1999, so it's got as much reason to be in a joke article about the year of our Lord 1999 as Persona 2 does. |
I know you're being tongue-in-cheek here, but the date of the newsletter is Innocent Sin's Japanese release date, and the game is also named "Persona," so that's definitely what it's on about. Not that I'd mind if they picked up Solatorobo as well, especially since it's getting an EU release. _________________
