Does steam not have a thing where you can see a list of people you've played games with recently anymore? _________________

I don't understand I thought that you had to make a game that costs $60, has bullshit DLC, and is CoD successful to make any money at all in videogames? |

Played the beta a shitload yesterday thanks to AnotherDawg's generosity.
Was p baller, I'm really excited to jump in with my friend. Trying to decide between mastermind and ghost which class I wanna be. We expected to have 4 dedicated dudes but it looks like it's just the two of us for now. Not excited about dealing with randoms in a game like this soooo :S |

A few of my friends and I are going to check this out; we got a 4-pack, I'm preloading, and I watched Heat last night to prep. _________________

I'm focusing on technician cause I want those shape charges and the drill and armor upgrades. Any spare points I was going to stick into ghost skills to help out with stealth. My brother is going with a bunch of enforcer and mastermind stuff I think. _________________

| Great, that actually works out since we'll be focusing on mastermind and ghost as our primary classes - so we'll each be focusing on a different class. |

The level select thing is awful. It was okay in the beta but now there's a million jobs on the screen and I'm getting actual headaches trying to read the screen. You have to constantly scan everything and take a second to decode the symbols to understand what difficulty and mission and amount of people are in it and click on it before it disappears. I've spent 90 percent of my time in this game just trying to get in a game. When I can even find one I'm looking for and manage to click on it in time it either never loads, fills up or it's all level 3 people trying to do a mission on overkill difficulty. _________________

it's a little unwieldy, but it fits the game like a glove and still isn't the worst server browser I've used

It gets even worse the higher you get in level, as you'll be looking primarily for higher-star jobs, sometimes pro versions, on Overkill, and you still see things like Four Stores on Normal/Hard popping up a lot. Visually, I get it, but functionally it detracts from my enjoyment of the game. Our core group of four ranges from level 45-52 right now and we're still enjoying the game, but yeah, at the very least more granular filters would be much appreciated. The IGN preview I remember reading wasn't wholly accurate but one thing they did get right is the Diablo II comparison: Ukrainian Job is this game's Pindle run. _________________

Do you have to have mics when you play this game? How coordinated do you have to be? Are random games good to play? Are you really OP at level 50 compared to level 1? I don't know much about PD2 except it's "dark souls diablo l4d heat". _________________ interdimensional |

You can definitely win missions without good coordination - but good luck doing anything "right" or "stealthily" or "without shooting an army of cops in the face". So far my friend and I have been playing with randoms and attempting to be coordinated via keyboard - but I'm trying to get my Official PS3 Wireless Headset TM to work with my PC. Too stupid to figure it out in the little time I've had to spend with it. But yeah, coordination is important and it gets really exciting feeling like you're managing actual challenges of a heist. Trying to have all of your team completing goals in different portions of your target location in a small window of time. Take out the cameras, take out the guards, control the civilians - make sure the cops aren't called. It isn't at all easy, even with coordination. Other scenarios include transporting heavy valuables across really hot locations like a street filled with cops and swat and shit. You have to have people covering you with suppressive fire. Cops of all kinds can feel pretty healthy, so having people focusing on flinching as many cops as possible so you're covered to cross a street can be highly important. I would say playing randoms is fine - especially as you're learning the ropes and level layouts etc (which to an extent are random, but there's still something to learn about how to approach levels) - you just won't be executing perfect missions if you're having to wrangle in people who when you say "Okay the plan is for this guy to drop the ECM and knock out the cameras before we move in" and a dude walks in in front of the ECM guy and blasts a civilian in the face. You just have to come ready for a shootout. Manage your hostages, manage your drills, watch your entry points, watch your team mates... try to push for the exits as a team effort. So far as being level 50... that's a long ways off for me. I can tell you that you start with little to no class abilities - you can basically unlock your class out of the gate and that comes with only their unique equipment... Filling out your class tree is very expensive, so I would think by level 50 you're finally feeling like you're able to fully play your role and are actually capable of doing heists the right way - but still with a sizable margin of error.
On level selecting: if you filter to "friends only" then you'll see a lot of games that are open lobbies. That may make your selection process easier as you'll be guaranteed host. |

Everyone has saws and c4 now so everyone runs in, blow the safes, and runs out in about 2 minutes on all the levels except the assault oriented ones or bank jobs where you have to use a drilll. Coordination and stealth is never going to be a thing you'll ever see in a public game ever again unless everyone else is low level, but it only takes about a day or two of playing to get that stuff. It's all about rushing and grinding for cards now. The number of heists is pretty disappointing too. They were making it sound like there would be a lot more and that it was just going to be a bigger game than payday 1 but it's about the same as 1 with the dlc. But unlike payday 1 there's not really anything like the hospital level or counterfeit money level where everyone has to guard a certain area or do a certain job and keep things in control while the plan is happening or whatnot. _________________

| Yeah, I played a mission where a dude was just rushing with saw. Basically I want a closed group to play with so we can actually have fun and not suck the fun out of the game with grinding. It literally doesn't have to be played that way. |

Just did a Pro Overkill Rats with 7 bags of meth cooked on day 1, all of the meth stolen back on day 2, and all of the money retained on day 3, and we somehow managed to get less money than a regular Overkill Rats with 4 bags of meth.
Most of the levels' layouts heavily favor shotguns, so I've been playing around with the Reinfeld a lot. Haven't yet tried the other shotguns, but the low damage on the auto shotgun and the tiny magazine size of the most expensive shotgun seem too restrictive. _________________

Just got this game this week. I've been finding the interactions I get with others more interesting through this game. It's really an interesting online experience. I wish it had better steam integration. Is anyone on SB still playing this? _________________ Steam: Godamn_Milkman |

I was getting a bit cold on this game, but today played a view rounds with strangers interested in being stealthy and it felt pretty right. I'd had trouble even figuring out how to go quiet till now, didn't understand what to really do with hostages, etc.
The most fun was a GO Bank full of civilians, which we almost stealthed.
It would be nice to play this with a full SB team. I only ever see Parker on; I guess most people have done all they want to in this?
I wish you could stab chums in the back like in Dog Days. I guess I wish this game did a lot of things it doesn't do. |

I like the game a lot more now when I just jump on every so often for a game or two than when I was trying to play through it all at once at first. The loot oriented style of the game irritated me then coming from payday 1. I still don't get shit for loot, I finished a pretty challenging level on the new DEATHWISH difficulty, which is basically impossibly unless you stealth it, and all I got for my trouble was some denim. _________________

I know fuckall about this game but if people were playing it on the regular i'd get it and play it too. if it runs on this here cheapest nvidia card on the market on a low res, that is
But you fucks have to be all over the timezones, from the US to Australia and that's always difficult
I just added everyone in the sb group on steam to my friends so i can figure out which multiplayer game you people are playing the most, so i can tag along (if it supports shitty graphics and, ideally, is around 10 bucks) |

I'm not sure there're any particular games people are multiplayering at the moment. There was some talk of Binary Domain in one of the threads when that got discounted/bundled.
Dog Days is $5 on some Brazilian website listed on isthereanydeal.com: http://www.nuuvem.com.br/produto/449-kane-lynch-2-dog-days |

I forgot about all these "get steam stuff cheaper" sites, yeaaaah. got legit dog days (and dead men because i'm curious and it was only 3,50€, like dog days).
I'll be playing it tomorrow. so, axe, steam, the payphone in front of the liquor store – i'll be in touch |

The mission about lives up to the trailer.
Gus Fring is The Dentist who hires the Payday crew on behalf of a client he refers to as "his patients" to take on some legendary uncrackable washington dc super bank. Supposedly these Dentist missions are going to eventually lead up to some big prison or cia blacksite break or whatever to bust out the original Hoxton character from Payday 1. Cause he originally was voiced by a british guy in that one, and fans being the deranged fanatics over the stupidest details that they are, have done nothing but complain about bringing him back since then, because of course you can't have something being different. I tell you they better not bring him back before the female heister they've been promising forever.
Gus Fring teaches the payday crew how to take two seconds to think about what they're doing for the first time in their lives
You pick different escape routes or methods of cracking the safe, different ammo and medkit placements, alarm delays, things like that, but they cost points. I could see in the future or a payday 3 maybe you could build up points after successful heists, that could be something, but right now this is only the heist that has the preplanning feature anyway.
of course most people use it to draw dicks and fuck around.
There's a Ulysses S. Grant mask I really want. You got to take the guy in the trailer hostage and guide him back to the vault to unlock it though. _________________

Sounds like a good one to not play with strangers.
Edit: Actually I kinda want to take that back: most of the time I seem to end up in games with okay people. |

We've got enough people playing at the moment to fill a team and a half I think, so yeah, let's do that.
Aside from Parker and me I've seen ChairTax and dinopoke on, and Youpi got the DLC the other day.

I've finally fixed my mouse lag troubles, so may be a bit better at shooting things now. Still won't cure my bouts of running about like a chicken with its head cut off though, I guess.
Also finally finished a heist on the new bank. One guy waited out (by the van in the basement) everyone being in custody twice, and we got off with a big lot of bags.
I'm enjoying using the locomotion as my secondary most of the time (actually I think I like shotguns too much and will make enforcer my main skill set), but haven't felt super happy with any of the primaries I have access to yet. I'm gonna try the M308 next, and am open to any recommendations for guns that do well at medium-high range.
edit: Gosh, yeah, this is a million times better without the lag. I can actually play missions above normal difficulty now. And this M308 was a great compliment through rats. |

Any SB-ers still playing this? I just got it last week and have been regularly playing with friends: it's been a blast.
If you want to add me, Steam name is the exact same as my SB name. Hit me up if I'm online and we can do a heist or four. _________________
