Want to participate but I couldn't find Warzard in MAME, and I suck at Crazy Balloon :<

I'd like to suggest Gun Master (Arcade) by Metro, though!

3150 for Crazy Balloon :<

Played Red Earth, didn't do bad for a first try! Unfortunately the only high score table it was showing was for the lion guy, so...damn. I'll try again tomorrow.

Okay, managed to catch my score for Red Earth this time!

86600 with MaiLing

As for the BEST score I could manage on Crazy Balloon...

19130! When the stage starts a-rockin' my balloon starts a-poppin' :|

15668! Usually it takes me a while to get the hang of puzzle games, but this one I took to quite well. Interesting mix of Puzzle Bobble and Breakout!

Sigh. :/

EDIT: Tried to make up for it in the best attempt run but barely got past the high score. Very tricky game!

Charming little number, this one. They really just went into mahjong games after all their great shmups? What a waste.

I took to this one quite fast! Would have been nice to tune the mouse sensitivity beforehand, though.

For Satan's Hollow:

Nice game, but it's very aggressive.

As for Aquaventure, I hope this is acceptable. Only Atari emu I had on hand was a build of StellaX from 1999, and PrtScn didn't seem to agree with it:

It took me about a minute to figure out that there was more than one screen, so that didn't feel good :<

Thanks for the responses, guys. I'll keep the thread going as long as I can. Schwere, didn't you read where I explained that Aquaventure has more than one screen?

I like to go into them "fresh" and not know much about the game before I try. Little quirk from the arcade streak we were on for a while there, I guess (in Gunbuster's case I'm thankful for the control help, though. Tried it a year or so back and didn't have much luck :S).

Anyway, for Gunbuster:

Man, this is insane for the time. The sprite limit does let it down quite a bit, though.

First try.

What a neat twist on Space Invaders! I have to admit I got flustered at about the sixth or seventh wave where the bullets start to follow the demons across the screen. Totally screwed me up and I just couldn't get out of the rut. Oh well.

Managed to take out the second boss and get a sweet double shot before losing it all by being too excited :<

Always liked this style of graphics. It helps the game stand out.

My local arcade growing up had a dedicated cabinet for this one. Could only ever get up to the car platforming in stage 2. Luckily I got a bit further this time!

Yeah, that second boss is some difficulty spike, all right. It was quite a smooth ride up until he started charging. Even with the telegraph, the game had been so easy going up until that point that it didn't register!

The key to scoring is definitely items/multipliers.

Shackled: 9100!

Puchi Carat: 107080!

Night Stocker: 69500

For Demon's World: 199550!

I do loves me some Toaplan. I'd like to suggest Wardner for a future game!

For THE END: 14320

Something about this game rubs me the wrong way. Also I think I broke it as the mothership disappeared after three rounds and never came back. Also at some point the game seemed to give me an obscene amount of lives for no apparent reason. Odd.

For Crush Roller: 3490 :<

I can barely manage Pac-Man, never mind all the clones.

97330 for Dyna Gear. This run went better than when I first tried it months ago!

A disappointing run on Wardner, sadly. 64280!

Lost my flow when I decided to by a Star Sword before Stage 3, and got bumrushed by skeleton knights. Sigh.

I tried it a while back. While it does suffer slightly graphically, the FM sound still has the same punch and the gameplay is basically the same. I didn't play very far into it so I don't know if they threw any different stages into it.

Please refer to this Mean Machines write up - my game rag of choice when I was a youngun!

19750 (luckily the game remembers the high score as long as you don't turn it off, so I just waited for the demo to play).

Yeesh, this one is hard to get a grip on.

Woooooow. You lose your cool in this game and it's over. A mistake now and then can be worked around but too many at once and you're done.

68800, sadly. Got done in by the two robots with their homing bullets.

Going to play this and Zaxxon a bit more and see if I can get a decent best score out of either!

93790! Apparently, there's a warp object that lets you skip three levels. I don't know if that's a bad thing or a good thing.

Still, amagad so close

(btw: MAME's history.dat credits Seibu to this. March did the distribution.)

I know, and the credit is there because of what I mentioned. Looks like March never released anything else.

The game's only surviving document and piece of official art.

IT IS NOT USED THAT ANY TERMINAL DOES NOT WRITE DOWN.

What a bizarre bit of trivia.

20100. Strange game. Screen gets pretty busy early on and quite a few enemies have erratic patterns, so you have to be on your toes from the start.

Managed the first stage okay, only losing a life to the Brachiosaur because I didn't read his bite telegraph in time. Allosaur NEARLY got me TWICE, but I managed to pull it off. Second stage annihilated me though, just couldn't adapt to the pace change fast enough.

Better than I remember it being when I tried it a few years back!

5251000 for Prehistoric Isle 2. Wasn't prudent enough on the second boss and hung right in front of him for too long.

6100 for Motos. Really disappointing score for me since I grew up playing the Namco Museum compilations on PSX.
