I thought MC might've held when that first EMP didn't hit any sentries, but the other two (I think?) that went off sort of sealed the deal. I wonder if warping in another DT could've of gotten Puma to waste them.
Either way, MC would've been better off if he hadn't done that counter attack.

Terran*
real answer: even though he was sheepish in front of the audience, it was probably a lot easier to focus in that dark booth with noise cancelling headphones on.
*(I do sort of believe this, though. Not to say Puma isn't good; anyone who does what he just did is fucking awesome. I just don't see any real faults in Terran bio play, especially with ghosts becoming much more common.) |

| storms and forcefields are the answer to that kind of bio play, really. which means it 100% comes down to whether or not you can feedback the ghosts. but yeah I play protoss and terran of my skill level or worse usually dominate me :( |

| I just wish EMP wasn't insta-hit 100% effective with amazing range. It really shouldn't be for what it does. Whenever I hear "perfect" or "money" EMP I just think to myself "when aren't they?" |

| How'd that turn out? MC was obviously the favorite to win, but Huk's had some super morale lately. |

MC took it 2-0 fairly convincingly
Not really sure why I stayed up late to watch a PvP. two games of modified 4gating. obviously. both of them opened 3gate robo both games. the first game they both transitioned into blink. then HuK tried DTs, I guess thinking that he could take out the best protoss player in the world in a straight up micro fight with an inferior army while he teched (and even though he knew MC had a robo anyway). the second game was over before immortals were even in play after HuK made a really dumb decision to proxy half his army outside MC's ramp after MC's first group of stalkers moved out, while keeping the other half home. I watch HuK's stream fairly often these days and that was some of the worst PvP stuff I've seen out of him, and that includes games where he's obviously fucking around with timings.
edit: actually the second game was just straight up 4 gate. either way, HuK played dumb and died quick. |

Has anyone else been watching the IGN Proleague?
Besides IGN's choice of weird steam-punk overlays and Deviant Art level player portraits, it seems to be a pretty well-orchestrated event. They have a lot of good casters on board, and none of the awful ones, so far.
It's still going on, but I stopped watching after 3 consecutive Terran wins. TerranCraft just rubs me the wrong way. It probably always will. |

I've caught some of the matches, off and on. Watched Idra stumble into a victory against Drewbie. Missed Thorzain today (yesterday?).
watching enough matches finally smashed the idea of going chargelot/archon against 1 or two base Terran pushes into my head. it's been working! requires enough micro and/or early pressure with stalkers to keep a quick expansion alive, but it's pretty much an easy win from there against people that suck (which is everyone in high gold/low platinum). defend drops and push against the mmm ball or watch them two-base tank turtle and just macro the whole map. if I can get beat Terrans with some consistency I should actually make some progress when the ladders reset (provided I play enough). |

I didn't even realize it was going on until earlier today. I didn't see any games with super huge names in them, but it was kind of cool to see Destiny doing alright in a tournament again. He lost 1-2 against Socke, but they were all decent games.
Vile.State almost took a game with a mothership, but was all finicky and stupid with his units after the recall.
I wish Nerchio hadn't gone ultras vs. Cloud; they just didn't do a whole lot overall and he could have used some of those minerals for defense he seriously needed.
Neggy, do you use HT or DTs to make your Archons? I guess HT is the favorite for your build since you can spend more minerals on zealots, but I feel like a lot of ladder people would be susceptible to that one DT discreetly killing their shit in big battles. |

Yeah, I use HTs. Both to save minerals for zealots and because adding in storms (and feedback) as the game progresses is a pretty important feature of the strategy. DT harass is something I want to work on, but against Terran I pretty much drop in the first ten minutes if I get cheeky.
I have had undetected DTs in my main army composition rip the hell out of some things in 2s before, though. Always pretty amusing. |

| So, ridiculous weekend time! Evo, MLG, and GSL Code S finals are all this weekend. Pretty dumb! Time to see what kind of pool play is going on at Evo right now, I guess. |

I'm pretty psyched for EVO, in the past I've only ever caught the finals, but I don't have anything to do tonight; so maybe I can just geek out.
The announcers right now sound pretty good, and that Vega/Seth match was pretty cool. _________________ "Godzilla could be anyone."

I spent much of the night flipping between EVO and MLG Red; probab;ly spending more time on EVO because MLG can't keep their shit working and had insane amounts of filler. As Naniwa put it: "what a jpke."
That Makoto vs Fei Long game was sick, as were all the games with Daigo I saw, but I suppose that goes without saying. I find ridiculous Yun combos kind of hilarious.
Of the SC2 matches I watched, only the DongRaeGu ones were genuinely fun to watch. Idra's defense against Boxer in their second game was amazing, but the end of that pissed me off. Mutas weren't a great choice, and Idra should have had something further out on the field to see that Marine ball coming, but it'll always disgust me to see T loose all their units and half their workers and be aggressive with a sizable army minutes later because of Mules. Banelings wouldn't have done much against 25 Boxer marines. A few infestors would have been perfect, though. |

Didn't get to watch much tonight, which kind of sucks.
I think AE is a pretty boring game to watch. Wolfkrone vs. Mago was nice but in general I don't like matches where it's just yun/fei/viper/makoto/et. al trading combos with no defense or zoning of any sort.
Missed all of the MLG stuff today except DRG vs. HuK which was good but not great. Pretty sad I missed Boxer vs. Idra.

Yeah it was actually really exciting stuff across the board today! I was very impressed with how the AE patch has changed the game. Much more exciting i'faith.
EDIT: Exciting by SF4 standards anyway. |

| Why didn't boxer spread those vikings? ;_; Splash damage from Rain's thors and seeker missles really turned the tide there. Rain's switch to thor was pretty great, I must say. |

lawl, Boxer takes game 2 in 14 minutes.
Despite losing that 70-minute long game, Boxer's greater tourney experience is probably leaving him better off than Rain right now. I'm wondering if game 3 will be another sweep. |
