| I finished Human Revolution today. Final bossfight managed to involve me entering a code and hiding. It turned out better than the second boss fight, where I died ten times and was only successful after the boss got caught on geometry and I unloaded heavy weapons for a minute. |

I've been playing the ps mini game The Talisman of Death, a digital version of a Fighting Fantasy gamebook that was released this week on PSN. It is pretty neat. I'd recommend it for anyone who likes gamebooks. The ps mini is basically just the book with modern amenities like background music, logs, etc. It also has a nice optional interface which is a little more interactive than pressing a button to roll virtual dice. _________________ PSN: TaipeiGamer |

If I joined the cavia podcast all I would talk about is costume selection and how to optimize viewing angles when doing side jumps and backflips. _________________

Rayman 2 is the worst game. I got it for free on the 3DS and I still feel like I got ripped off.

If there's going to be a caviacast then I'll need to replay GitS SAC to rekindle my complete and overwhelming ambivalence towards the game. _________________

I also can't guarantee that the entire podcast won't just be me (badly) singing the NieR soundtrack. _________________

I would just talk about Drakengard for the duration of the podcast. Because it is one of my most favouritest games ever.

i played shiren the wanderer for the first time since i woke the golden condor a few months ago. i got to the golden city again, and a wall fell down, revealing some new floors to explore :O! and on the way up, a new storyline started involving gaibara and the cliff restaurant :O!!
it might seem like the usual lokian hyperbole, but whenever i play shiren, it feels like i'm playing the coolest game ever _________________

See, last time I asked for opinions on Drakengard somebody bitched about that having been asked too often and said that it was not any good.
I sort of want it to be an awesome game because of its music. Guess I'll just have to pick it up eventually. _________________

Painful and joyless games can be entertaining, remote.
I enjoyed Flower, Sun and Rain, despite spending 75% of the game holding the control pad up to run across endless highways. |

I've been playing Space Invaders Extreme 2, Final Fantasy VI Advance, and PiCOPiCT (aka PiCTOBiTS).
PiCOPiCT is really a fantastic puzzle game. I got it with the free Nintendo points that came with my DSi. At the time it was one of the few DSiWare games available. This is probably my fourth run through the regular levels, and I'm still discovering new ways to go about clearing the blocks. |

I know some people have mentioned it, but Bastion's a pretty great little game. I was worried it was going to be too easy, but there are these optional idols you can activate that increase the difficulty for increased rewards, and they can make it pretty damn tough. It's certainly beautiful and the all narration, all the time presentation is great, but aside from all that it's also a pretty satisfying Diablo-lite. Less customization but more action mechanics, and more opportunities to immediately and drastically change your playstyle (switch weapons instead of entire 100 skill point builds). It's a nice formula. _________________ Let's Play, starring me. |

I killed her by repeatedly shooting her with the stun gun and unloading with the shotgun. Pretty hysterical really. |

| Thinking I'd sold the original Kingdom Hearts before I'd moved last year (and forever perverted the possible trajectory for some small person's life), I was surprised to find it at the bottom of one of my storage boxes near the end of this month. So, out of wrongheaded curiosity, I decided to do my first playthrough in something like eight years, letting IRC know of my progress via frustrated grunts. Upon the writing of this I am at Hollow Bastion, which is, if I'm not mistaken, the second-to-last place in the game. Over the years, I think the train-wreck-esque experience of Kingdom Hearts 2 had somewhat softened my memories of the first title and caused me to remember it as boring and mediocre. In 2011, Kingdom Hearts is, in fact, violently horrible and nearly unplayable. It is actually, on a frequent basis, making me yell out loud. I am having a hard time understanding why this sack of shit didn't make its point years ago, even with the fact of I Was Pretty Stupid being acknowledged. Most people here are aware of what I'm saying (or would say), but it still might be fun to enlarge this post later with everything that's come to mind. It will be a kind of personally delivered exorcism. |

| I always feel bad that the only part of Kingdom Hearts that I even wanted to try was the Gummi Ship, which everyone complains about, so I know it probably isn't as good as I want it to be in my head. |

Finally got around finishing RE5 co-op with a friend. We died 23 times (a few more if you count our short try of it in a previous session) on that last volcano level. Most of it probably consisted us being confused by why Chris couldn't actually step over that boulder he insisted on punching into the lava until we finally looked for a walkthough on youtube.
Merecenaries mode is a lot of fun though.
Now he's gone to live in China though but we did manage to find the perect multiplayer game for us where huge pings are not an issue, Frozen Synapse! Is anyone else on selectbutton playing this btw? |

Any diatribe on Kingdom Hearts is worth writing.
Personally I quite enjoyed the gummyship concept and interface, but the levels themselves were boring and there weren't enough balances in place to prevent you from just making a fuck-you powerful gummyship that curbstomped the entire solar system. KH2's levels were better paced, but it quickly escalated to the point where your ship would destroy fifty ships just by looking at them. _________________

Every time I hear about Kingdom Hearts I want to read a good takedown of the plot. It sounded like it should have been a joyful action RPG, but apparently it was just agnst? _________________ Someday somethings coming

I also played Zelda: Skyward Sword at PAX this past weekend. If I can generalize a twenty-hour game by a ten-minute demo, it appears that Nintendo discovered the Nikita weapon from MGS2 and decided that'd be a good thing to put in their game. But its not good because its motion controlled. Also, the series (at least on consoles) has been running on fumes since 2003. (Or 2000.)
But enough of being negative! I also beat Dragon Quest IV DS. Bonus Chapter and everything. I felt really good about myself. _________________

I really enjoyed the ABDN review of Kingdom Hearts II, but I would also like to read an in-depth takedown of the ridiculous plot. _________________

| play it on a 360 controller or something and it'll at least play like a typical third person console game. you'll still want mouse look, of course. and mouse clicking on skills. and everything else that makes the mmo-lite trend better suited to the PC. |

If nothing else, it would be nice if playing it on a 360 controller or the Wii's classic controller allowed you to swing the camera around with the second analog stick à la Demon's Souls. _________________

I downloaded the Decide-O-Tron app just to see what it was like (I'm sorry luvcraft!!). Put in all of my favorite games...
Top recommendation: BioShock.
...
I would also like to note that in the "Celebrity Top 10 Lists", Gabe of Penny Arcade's #1 "favorite game" is Kingdom Hearts II.
Joking aside, I think I might keep this app just to check in on this feature from time to time. It could be important to know which games are influencing people in the industry. And y'all know how much I love a list. _________________

it's pretty slow and doesn't quite feel right, but some setting tweaks could probably help that if I were so inclined |

Oh, really, just on the fly without holding down the Z button or whatever you have that mapped to?
So broke right now, but I may have to consider finally buying a 360 pad for my PC in a while. _________________
