so just how blindingly obvious is it that mr. assassin creed will turn on the americans and establish his own ambiguous FREEDOM FIGHTER cause with entirely not veiled allusions to the plights of the native americans and TROUBLING QUESTIONS WILL BE RAISED but then he will solve them with an axe and there will be a cliff hanger as a REAL BAD GUY EMERGES and then we will get ASS CREED III-2: LOUISIANA PURCHASE next year

I can't imagine anyone playing Assassin's Creed III to 100% completion and actually enjoying it. There mus be some unspoken obligation there. Or, as shrug said, Stockholm Syndrome.
the reason "gameification" and achievements and all that work in games is because they already work out of games. gamers play the games they see on TV and hear about from their xbros because those are the games they are supposed to play to be in the gamer club. you'd be amazed at how irrelevant liking a game is when talking to some of these people. but it's a bigger circle than that, the reason it works out of the game is because gamers are all of a certain type. and they're all of a certain type because the games have already bred that type. games are literally empty accomplishment, they are all auto-affection. press the button, get the reward, you win. you can't escape that, the best you can do is recognize it. and the problem with masturbation is it is all ego.
I'm not saying no one legitimately likes assassin's creed, I'm saying that once a certain amount of people legitimately like it the rest is automatic.
the process isn't unique to video games, but there's a certain vulnerability here that encourages the pathology
