While playin DMC3 a few weeks ago, I wanted to use different styles all the times, but I always went back to trickster. Swordmaster and gunslinger are nice and all, but they are mostly just new moves to improve your style, while a dodge move that was actually good and cancels your current animation always seemed much more useful, and pretty much necessary for bosses. I never bothered going near royal guard, not even once in any game I think I've bothered with things like guards and counters. Also I never really found much reason to use any weapon besides the sword, and later the gauntlets, nor any gun that wasn't the pistols.

I liked it a lot more than DMC 1, in good part because I didn't have to deal with the awful save and checkpoint system.

Began playing Alpha Protocol today. I got through Saudi Arabia and a good part of Rome. I don't have much to say, except that so I'm loving and I hadn't got caught like this with any game in quite some time.

I beat Nocturne for a second time today. Got the demon ending on hard. Since I never even entered Amala I was only level 77, but since it's a new game plus I got an overpowered party with Ongyo-ki, Shiva and Vishnu. I'm still unsure on whether I prefer this ending or Shijima. It feels kinda weird to finish the game without having an actual last boss.

Everything about this game just makes me feel almost overhwelmed. The looks, the music, the combat, the writing. Everything feels grand, like how the random encounter music sounds like a boss' and the boss themes sound like a like a last boss theme, or the conversation before the bossfights and the lines during them, but still manages avoid feeling tacky. I also love how it avoids implying that any of the endings is better or more morally righteous than the others. Right now, I can comfortably say this is my favorite game.

I left an earlier save to also get the Shijima or Yosuga endings. I'll also use it to get the true demon ending with a complete compendium and the time attack burial chambers beaten. Yesterday I saw a FAQ on how to finish the games on hard, true demon ending, with the Demi-fiend alone, which I hadn't even considered possible, so I might do that in a third playthrough.

For no special reason, I just find Shijima quite compelling, except that Hikawa is kind of an asshole. I don't like Yosuga, and Musubi sounds like the worse option, Isamu is even more detestable than Hikawa.

And I don't like the neutral ending. I find it completely uninteresting.

Cyberdisks are the most powerful thing you'll fight until the last one or two races appear. Floater terror sites are very in comparison.

Are you using XComUtil? It has some cool features, most important, saving your equipment setup. Although I don't I have actually tried it yet.

Also, kneeling does reduce your height, from 22 to 14, so missed shots are less likely to hit.

Playing Radiata Stories, I just saw in a faq that I have probably missed the chance to recruit all the best characters for the path I was gonna take, so I'll take the other one. Not that it bothers me, I was gonna choose the human path only because my brother choose the non-human one. It's kinda weird to see a game with a branching as full and permanent as this.

Just finished the Fire Palace in Secret of Mana, which I guess is more or less halfway through. And I hate it. It's a horrible mess at everything. The collisions only half work, and the way combat works, half of it is waiting for you or the opponent to stand up. And companion get stuck at everything. The complete lack of third dimension is awkward and off putting, flying and jumping enemies still detect collision with their sprites as a walking enemy would. And I don't like it's graphics or music. Pretty dissapoing after finding Seiken Densetsu so good.

How does Seiken Desnsetsu 3 compares to these? Because I will probably try it out at least.

In the last month I played all Megamana Zero games. Great games, I love how flexible they are both mechanically and in how they adapt to your gamestyle, they work whichever weapon you use, with or without ex-skills and powerups. Overall 3 was the best one, 1 was short on skills and stuff, 2's moveset was way too limited, smaller than 1 even, if you didn't earn armors nor ex-skills, and 4 moveset wasnt as good and the bosses and levels are overall the weakest (although Craft is probably the best boss in the series). 3 has the most ample moveset and skills even if you don't earn ex-skills nor find any secrets, lets you use some powerups without killing your score, and doesn't have any intrusive and crappy platforming of some levels from 2 and even more in 4. Also it's the only one with shadow dash, and it's tremendous fun to use.

Also, I love how they look. The music was good, although not as much as other megeman games (ie it isn't even close to X1)
