Yeah, I remember GoW2 being a lot more forgiveable going in. There are a few points that choked me up abit but but in long run, it felt smoother and easier.
Lately I've been playing Wild Arms XF on my psp and has managed to be a worthy purchase of the PSN. Almost all the story related battles have a good context behind them and have you accomploshing a specific goal outside of just slaughtering the field. Alot of the class based abilities have specific uses like one ability that does more damage the higher an enemy is to you or being able to switch places and take an ally's damage if that unit is in an adjacent hex. Many of the choices feel weighty and tactical as opposed to Disgaea's method of having numbers butt heads. _________________

I'm on occasionally but I'm on one of those shared free apartment networks where my ping can easily excede 800 during peak hours. My best times seem to be late morning when most have gone to school or after 1am. I go by Roger Orland so add me anytime. I'm currently level 27 and have a mish mash of runes. I love blitz but I always bomb hard with him. I have a pretty good track record with Morgana and Lux. _________________

Got my PSU and my GPU all plugged up and making some work on a load of games. Started Metro 2033 and Space Marine to put it through its paces. Both played fairly well. Got a few sound hiccups in Space marine and got a lot of screen tearing in Metro. Gonna go down my list and start trying these heavier games I couldn't before. _________________

Just beat WH40K Space Marine. It was enjoyable all the way through. It completes its story but leaves of on a big hook to continue it in some way. I anticipating the Exterminatus add-on mode something fierce. Once it goes live, its going to be good times. _________________

For anyone with Space Marine, the exterminatus add on is now live and is as fun as I hoped. I also like to grind out levels for the multiplayer to get those unlocks. Not sure if weapon challenges can be worked on in this. It's a bit dissapointing that it doesn't bring the execution healing in it since you can even see the stun aura around orks and it's hard to go against that urge I picked up in the single player. _________________

After a three or more year hiatus I decided to go back to Soul Nomad after getting Phantom Brave and Disgaea 2 on my psp a few monthes ago. Holy shit, I forgot how varied and complicated it can be. Disgaea has always been fairly straight forward in its number goes up train of thought and the fun was finding those tricks to make them go up faster but here there are whole dimensions of different numbers to work with. Keeping track of all the room abilities is a logistic nightmare. Such as one letting the squad keep a 90% dodge rate but they will die as soon as they get hit or on that will explode after three turns. There was a time I could process all this shit but it has been to long. _________________

Having been playing this, it has no where near the weight to the combat that the souls games have and if anyone were to emulate those games, I think the character weight and motion would be the first place to start. So I find the comparison a bit unneeded.
I'm simply playing this on the grounds that it is an open world-ish RPG with combat and character motion that border right on the edge of enjoyable. It's still full of the usual stupid gamey type shit like all the unassuming locked chests laying out in the wilds, tiered loot qualities, animals carrying swords, gold and the like on them. If anything I am loving for finally proving that you can have a big world game that is fun to control. I think the game has a nice crunch to it with the neat affects seeing enemies react to your attacks but the friction of the whole game is a bit to greased up since I've only once died due to letting myself get surrounded and didn't press the potion button fast enough. There was a small quiet rumor that a creator's kit could make it out and I could see some nice stuff coming out of that if it happens. _________________

Notbov, totally hit me up on SMNC sometime. I love having a good game as veteran or try and find the right way to play Capt. Spark. I have a hard time enjoying any of the sniper classes because I've been conditioned by TF2 that if I see myself get a solid head shot, I expect to see a body ragdoll. Since the flow of SMNC does not support this, it is hard for me to get in that groove. Getting a good hookshot grab and grapple near a friendly turret as veteran always provides a good feeling. _________________

Just barely started Grimrock myself. Killed a few snails and mushroom creeps. A part of me wishes it was turn based because dungeon crawl games like this are my favorite to sit back and chill to. _________________

If you have a PC that can run them, they go on sale fairly regularly. They usually sell the HD gold pack that includes the originals and the HD remakes for just 10 bucks. _________________

Not sure if it has been changed again yet but there was an update that his fly will cut off when he takes damage. I really loved the turbo cross mode that made it more like classic MNC with level ups only for the skills. Last I played it, most games where a steamroll for one side. The fact you could rebuild turrets was a bit pointless given how long it took for them to be come rebuildable and level them back up to 3. By that time the lane has been pushed so hard it'd be a waste to bring it up. I'm able to play a much more successful Spark since all my attack numbers are at a high level so I can play a good hit and run. _________________

It is in beta after all. The only time I used it was just trying it out and played dark souls on it. For me it only works when I set my tv monitor as the primary display so it doesn't switch on me. The only problem I had was when trying to pull up the games for windows live home screen it also pulled up the steam overlay at the same time. Looking at the setting it didn't let me rebind which controller button brings up the steam overlay. Right now it's nothing more than a neat feature to use or ignore. So far it's only good to call up games that use a controller so you don't have to shift to a keyboard because if you're already on one, the regular client view is just as quick. _________________

The second game is great for having a sandbox mode where you can freely form a dungeon ecology and introduce heroes at will. The catch is you have to complete the campaign stages to get access to more hero types. The real challenge of the game is keeping track of all the monsters behaviors and planning ahead so you don't waste your pick energy and special blocks. I've only made it to maybe the fifth stage to where it became obvious I can't plan ahead the way the game wants me to. _________________

Played a bit of Magical Drop V last night. It's in a very rough spot right now but I managed to make it through World's story mode without much incident. The main draw is online play but it is in dire need of some tlc. _________________
