Yeah, my method was always to take off, fly over an enemy base, then jump out of the plane. Doesn't exactly require a $500 flight yoke. |
Don't forget to drop bombs just before you jump out.
and watch them incinerate the enemy as you parachute down.
Oh my god.
Guys I am so ready for this. |

| on that, I really don't see how this looks better than Bad Company 2. I mean, BC2 already looked great so it isn't really a complaint, but right now Frostbite 2 looks pretty much like Frostbite 1 (or whatever variant of it BC2 used). Though the maps in this game are obviously bigger. And the environmental destruction in the single player stuff looks more advanced, but I also wouldn't be surprised if it was scaled back a bit for multiplayer anyway. |

I did too. I initially was getting all psyched up for a game.com thread (the late-nineties, monochrome Tiger handheld). Alas. _________________

A horribly produced trailer for the Vita's Gravity Daze, with its final Western title revealed as Gravity Rush. So glad that music won't be in the game.

Neggy, I think you need to look again. There is a large, very noticeable visual advancement from BC2 to BF3.
I can't say if the destruction is scaled back from BF3 singleplayer to BF3 multiplayer, because I haven't played the game obvioiusly. But I can say that BF3 MP's destruction is more advanced that BC2. One of the big things they did was now make debris chunks able to hurt you. So now everyone sees the same thing, the same debris, when destruction happens. Whereas in BC2, debris chunks were randomnly generated locally on each player's system, and couldn't hurt you. Likely to keep up netcode performance.

And Ys Origin, now that I look at it. And "KOF XIII-V." And Glory of Heracles--doesn't Nintendo own the rights to that?
Still, a ballin' fake list. |

Man, you guys are wandering way off topic.
I came into this thread hoping to find some good review sites for Game.com games. I'm sure we all know that most Game.com carts are more or less available if you're patient enough to watch eBay and Yahoo Auctions, but I still like to know what I'm getting into before I lay down my dough. What sites or message boards do you guys use?
Right now I'm wondering if Resident Evil 2 is worth the investment. Having already played the PSX version, my main concern is that the Game.com might not have the graphical ability to support a similar play experience, but it would be really cool if the game had any sort of stylus support.
Unfortunately information is hard to come by. If any of you guys have any first-hand knowledge I'd really appreciate it! _________________ "Godzilla could be anyone."

| TMKF, I would get RE2, I've heard it's going to be revolutionary! Also, I've been getting into this really new game called Duke Nukem 3d! It's pretty interesting. You fight aliens but you have one heck of a vibrant personality (which is pretty stunning noting the monochromatic screen). I have that fantastic game and Batman & Robin. If you want to trade, I'll send you a PM. |

I'll PM you a list of my current collection! My main pursuits right now are Henry and Wheel of Fortune 2. And, of course, I'd be thrilled to stumble upon a prototype for Symphony of the Night or A Bug's Life!

| I hate to break it to you, TMKF, but I did eventually acquire a prototype of A Bug's Life. Let's just say, that's the first time I've ever described level design like that as pretentious. Now, The Symphony of the Night prototype is fantastic! It runs at a very smooth 15 FPS and the graphics are astounding! |

re Sword and Sworcery, Android is hard to port to because Java is very different from Objective-C, there's a much wider variety of resolutions and specs to worry about, and SaS's resolution and interface are unusually specific to current iOS devices. so i don't blame them for just writing it off. they probably didn't have to go "lololol" though.

Matches look like they last 20-30 minuets, and I saw people with full builds 15 minutes in.
Thank God.
After playing a few weeks and seeing that even steamrolls hit the 40 minute mark, it's good to see a mode with the time commitment lowered. Otherwise, it looks like every over mode/map to rip off conquest-style play from BF, especially looking like a mix of DoW2's MP and Last Stand modes. _________________

I want to explain something about this. Porting your own games is like eating something you have already digested. It's dirty, it feels bad, it's undignified, and it tastes like a corrupted echo of past delight. Nobody should be surprised or offended when a small team or a solo developer doesn't want to port their game to some other platform.
(And in this case, it would be fruitless anyway, since Android users hardly pay for any games, and when they do they really don't pay $5 or more) |

Well, at first I asked if it ever might be ported to PC, since I feel like I'd rather experience it as a fullscreen point & click adventure than on a tiny iPhone/Android screen, but yeah, no.
I can understand why the thought of doing a port would be undesirable. Just felt like their response came off as, "HEH HEH WHAT ARE YOU STUPID?" Found it offputting. This is just how I feel, I guess, considering I don't understand why it wasn't just made for PC (I have a mouse) to begin with. Seems like they'd be more likely to reach a wider audience (more money) that way, too, but whatever. _________________

I can understand why they don't want it to be mouse-controlled. When you control a game with a mouse, you're touching your mouse; you're not touching the game. For many games this is a pretty meaningless distinction, but it's not when the game is designed to make use of the metaphor of touching.
I agree with you that developers should generally avoid those kinds of flip, dismissive responses, but I mean how would you respond if someone asked you to ingest your own post-nutritive byproduct? |

That's true. About the metaphor of touch, I mean. Still, though, I think I'd have to play it on a bigger screen (and bugging my gf to let me play a game on her iPhone seems obnoxious). Maybe if I get an old iPad some day... _________________
