This game looks like crap on my PS3. It's basically Oblivion with less colors. I sure hope this console generation is on its way out.
I couldn't make out any noteworthy improvements on AI or environment interaction either, the world is still segmented as always, and after playing Mount and Blade and Demon's Souls the combat just feels old and clunky. What the hell did Bethesda do all these years?
Most exciting experience so far:
I saw a chicken in the first town and wanted something to eat after barely escaping death, so I axed it and a split-second later hell broke loose. Everyone came after me like I just raped their children. So I loaded my save and tried to rape their children, but I either didn't get an uncut version of the game or those little fuckers really are invincible.
Maybe I'll keep at it until I slay my first dragon, and maybe not. Why did I buy this? Will I make the same mistake again when Elder Scrolls VI comes out? Probably. |

You haven't played Fallout 3 have you? |
I skipped the Fallouts. Guess I missed bulletproof kids? Pls tell me there's a child murder fan patch. |

| Quick question: can you move corpses around? I'd like to make a pile or two. |

| Is there really no way to retrain your perks in-game? That's shitty. No previous TES game has ever forced you into a character build like that. At worst you picked the wrong skills for your major and minor, but you could always level anything to 100 and get full benefits if you really wanted to. |
Is it really such a bad idea if your choices matter?

I did the same a few years ago with Oblivion, when I wrote hundreds of lines on how I would change the mechanics to improve the game (mostly regarding leveling). You're not alone, which makes me wonder, does anyone else collect cauldrons and baskets to put them on NPC's heads? |

In what is largely a retarded sandbox, sort of, yeah. |
But what if the main cause of retardation is the lack of interesting choices. |

Today I talked with two kids and said I don't like Skyrim, then they stared at me until they realized I wasn't joking.
There are better reasons to hate Skyrim, but these are good reasons to supposedly hate Skyrim. Also upon reflection, I think that the accurate physical modeling of long hair in epic fantasy games deserves at least as much attention as titties are getting in Dead or Alive. |

Lolwhat? Morrowind has the same crippling flaws all the other games have. Maybe its setting is a tad more unusual, but that's about it.
I'd give all of 'em a D- for effort.

Some people extrapolate their experience and say there's no real fun in Skyrim, because they simply didn't have lots of fun playing it. I don't think they necessarily meant to say that there aren't bits and pieces here and there that they enjoyed, I had real fun putting pots on people's heads to steal their undies. The decisive point is that the ratio of enjoyment to boredom is just skewed too much towards the latter for them (and for me).
I had a similar experience when I recently started playing Monster Hunter Tri. I heard how much fun it's supposed to be, then I collected 8 crystals, mined 2 ores, catched 3 fish, picked 5 mushrooms, and said "fuck it". Because I just didn't enjoy doing any of these things. I did have fun when I was actually hunting some monsters in between, and maybe I'll play some more, strictly focussing on these quests.
I'd love to play a Monster Hunter game without all the useless junk, because it seems to have a really great combat system at its core. I can't say the same about Skyrim, as it's basically nothing but "useless junk" to me. That's part of its main selling point as a "do whatever the heck you want fantasy" I guess. Compared to Monster Hunter, the guys at Bethesda cannot channel their resources towards nailing a subset of all the numerous mechanics.
At the end I always ask myself "Why not play more Demon's Souls instead?" That's one of the reasons people praise this game so much. It's all thriller no filler, I don't have to plough through hours of tedium to get to the parts I actually enjoy. |

| Breaking the game is no longer fun because you keep running into barriers each step of the way that take a non-trivial amount of time to climb even if you know exactly what you need to do. It's rather disappointing coming from the previous TES games. |
Now if time would matter in Skyrim, I'd call this an improvement. |
