yeah I just haven't been able to find the right spot -- it seems that wherever I am, the sine wave moves and gets me and kills me. is there a better weapon to use than melio ascis? I should probably just switch one of my presets to the shield glyph _________________

That comic's kind of great, if only for the artwork.

I've seen a post about Deborah Cliff and I think there was once a topic on RHDN about how the Graveyard Duck (although fuck the RHDN forums) dialogue is accurately translated and yeah it's been said that all the villagers lie in the original Japanese version but I still wonder about some of the lines. |
off-topic, but I'd love it if someone started a Neo-Geo project, by re-translating a lot of the engrish and dialogue itself.
For example, it's implied that Eiji has a crush on Mai Shiranui in AOF2's ending, but only in the English version. Doesn't make sense since Mai is probably only like seven in AOF2 anyways. _________________

The guy who wrote it is British and the only reason it's in French is because he's always wanted to break into the Euro market since the 70s. :B _________________

I beat every game I listed except for Castlevania II and Chronicles, which I never got a chance to play
I suppose I could try beating them on monday but given the amount of time it took me to beat III and IV I doubt I could

End result:
CV III: I hate stairs and lame auto scrolling areas. too bad this game had too many of them. unless the other characters make the game much easier somehow I seriously doubt I won't quit at dracula's castle.
CV IV: my god the music is incredible and the final level makes up for any problems I've had while playing this game. It's not as fun as I/rondo/bloodlines, but I'll prolly still play it alot.
bloodlines: still p t good, though hard. forgot that the continues start you at the last checkpoint you got to though, so it's a little easier then I thought. will prolly try to beat this again with eric sometime.
harmony of dissonance: enjoyable but frustrating. once I figured out where to go things started falling into place, but I still got more confused on where to go then I suspect any of the other cv games. also has the hardest best ending to get. I would have never found the fake walls without a guide, especially since there seems to be no secret rooms (I don't think I've even found one breakable wall?). also wasn't a fan of the whole a+b castle thing. besides that it was ok. doing boss rush as 8-bit simon was the best. _________________

do you mean the one you have to break with the crushing stone equipped? I guess that would kind of count. it's so obvious though, because of the color and sound it makes when you hit it.
I guess I'll never break my habit which I got from circle of the moon, which felt like it had a lot of hidden areas.
also HoD had some pretty good tunes. was the composer michiru yamane? _________________

No it's a breakable ceiling, so you need the crushing boots. Also, activate the save room first, since up activates it anyway. Look for save rooms with a one square empty above it on the map. _________________

EBF I know what you're talking about but you don't need the boots for that.

Yeah.
The soundtrack was by Soshiro Hokkai, but Yamane did the tracks for the boss rush. |

Everyone who likes the original Castlevania should play the Amiga port, or watch that longplay Dracko linked. Its failures are a pretty good way to understand the successful nuances of the original game's design.
