Peter Laird (Co-creator of TMNT) was at the mall where I work yesterday. He rented out a whole theatre for a screening of TMNT. My friend who accosted him for some signiatures (including one on the newly released PS2 game that doesnt have multiplayer because UBIsoft is retarded) said Laird claimed he enjoyed the movie. My friend Seth later said it's hard to dislike a movie when you're given a giant bag of money right beforehand.
So fuck, did anyone see it? I heard they don't even fight Shredder. |

| Yeah man, it's supposed to follow after the story of the first movie, so Shredder is dead. |

I enjoyed it.
No they don't fight shredder. I actually liked that though, as it seemed like they were trying something a bit different. The villains they do fight are interesting enough, though, so it wasn't bad at all.
They totally set up a sequel though, with Shredder coming back |

I thought it was great; it was a lot of fun. And the medium is a perfect platform for the turtles.
As for where it fits in with the continuity, it appears that it follows the movies, as there is a scene in which the TGRI cannister and Time Scepter appear. |

| That's really interesting. I was just expecting another reboot. Or for this to follow the cartoon continuity or something. |

| It was actually pretty surprising. As for the cartoon continuity, I can't really say, there may be other things in that particular scene that may tie into the cartoon (the older or the newer one) as well! |

I wasn't going to see it until you said time scepter. Now I'm obligated. _________________ "Say, that's a nice fez!"

The warlord gear the turtles wear also make an appearance on the shelf, I think.
Also, it's pretty assuredly not the new cartoon continuity because they don't know who Kurai is at the start of the movie.
I liked it a lot. Some holes, probably because they had to cut out a half hour of footage, but overall good. I can't wait to get it on Blu Ray or HD DVD because some of the detail work in the backgrounds is simply amazing.
I'm kind of mad they replaced Quinton Flynn with Chris Evans for Casey, though.
On the TMNT 2003 front, 4kids had a vote of what people prefered, TMNT 2003 of Fast Forward, and recently started to play some regular TMNT shows again. I heard that they played a single new episode of the lost season, though I might be mistaken. There's an episode, actually, in that set of 13 that they weren't allowed to finish.
Also, they're demons, not aliens.

| The references to the other films is more of an easter egg type thing. Like the Alien/Xenomorph skull in the trophy room at the end of Predator 2. |

Peter Laird took off 8 months from the TMNT comic to work on the movie. So he wasn't just given a giant bag of money, he actually worked on it. |

I remember renting the third movie on VHS tape one summer when I was visiting my cousin. Afterwards we rented Super Mario All Stars, and browsed Compuserve looking for news on Nintendo's new 64-bit game system.
I guess what I'm saying is the movies came out a long fucking time ago so its really shocking they felt the need to continue that canon. The muppets they originally cast would be in their early thirties, so I guess live action was not a possibility. |

I seem to recall that Leonardo took off the Shredder's head pretty close to the beginning of the comics. Can anyone vouch for this? Weren't the comics were much darker than the Saturday morning cartoons?
Also, Cam Clarke will always be Michaelangelo. Always. _________________

Yeah, totally. In the original comic Shredder "died" in the first issue by his own thermite grenade, on a rooftop and everything, only to come back ten issues later where he eventually died for reals. The first live action movie would later cherry pick elements from the comic to craft it's story, leaving out most of the weirdness with the aliens and such that the cartoon really embraced. Did you know that Krang and the Technodrome were created especially for the show?

The Shredder got killed in the first issue of the comics. Then his corpse was filled with magic worms who fought the turtles for a few issues, until Leo decapitated it. Karai is in more issues than the Shredder. Some of the best villains of the comics were Baxter Stockman, Savante Romero, and the triceratons.
Also, everyone needs to read this:
It's an artsy, surreal reimagining of the Ninja Turtles premise (it has four turtles, a rat, and a samurai lord as a villain - otherwise it's completely different) by one of the greatest comic artists. He drew the best looking issues of The Sandman, for instance. |

So guys, how about that sequel announcement at the end of the movie?
Who will be the villain of the next movie she hinted at, huh?
Shredder with worms?
Perhaps KRANG!?
(Here's to hoping for KRANG.) |

Krang with a new Technodrome would be pretty cool. I'd even settle for just Krang in his person suit that can grow the size of buildings. _________________

| I want to see Shredder chilling in the sewers and ring up Krang on his personsuit phone and be like, "yo... I'm bored... what's going down at the technodrome?", and then Krang would be like, "not much, watching tv, having a beer," and then Shredder would be like, "man I'll be right over," then they hang out and have a couple beers and watch some tv. |

Man, I just had a wicked cool idea. The technodrome was huge, right? Like, tons of rooms and stuff. Imagine a Turtles videogame that takes place entirely inside the technodrome. It'd be like a brawler/metrovania type game, where you moved about the rooms trying to figure out where you were and where Shredder was located, while having to rescue April O' Neil and other innocents.
Key locations could include rooms shown in the original cartoon, such as where the turtles fought off all those giant robots, or the room where Splinter fought Shredder. You could access bonus levels to Dimension X after you found the room that had the big teleportation screen in it!
The game could start off outside the Technodrome, like how Castlevanias often started outside the castle, in the underground surrounding areas. You could fight some foot clan and such, give you enough time to learn the controls and the basics and all, then after that segment you'd be in the Technodrome, where the main portion of the game would take place. Crap, this would be awesome. A giant Technodrome level with hundreds of rooms and areas, I can see it working in 2D or even 3D. Platforming, setpieces, special enemies with varied attack patterns that you would have to learn to be able to move quickly.
Ooh ooh! Metroid style escape sequences. Oh hells yeah. _________________

This is a great idea.
I think I always prefered the game versions of the TMNT to every other form. I used to fill massive notebooks with plans for my own TMNT game. If Konami had let me make one in the fifth grade, it would've been fucking awesome. |

Townsand Coleman was Mikey in the original cartoon. In the movies it was Robbie Rist, you know, Cousin Oliver from the Brady Bunch.
Who remembers that Batman episode where they completely parodied that show and Cousin Oliver with Baby? |

OH SNAP. You're right. I thought Michaelangelo because I remembered that Clarke also did the original English voiceover for Kaneda in Akira, and I had thought at the time, "Why does he sound like Michaelangelo?"
Anyway. The point is:

KRANG
Build him a body.
Though maybe it should be an image wherein Krang doesn't have a body already.
