Good morning peeps! Some delicious new GTA eye candy was posted during the night.
:O
That's at least two images now of Franklin wearing a bandana to cover his face. I'm hoping it's not purely cosmetic but rather like it was in Red Dead Redemption where wearing a mask concealed your identity while committing crimes. Also check out the cop hanging off the side of the SUV in the shot with Trevor running from the cops. New cop behavior! _________________

They said they want to have more prep work involved in the heists, whatever that all ends up being I'm sure at the least they'll have the bandanna mask system in from Red Dead. _________________

Helicopters attack a giant man in a gas mask who is being evaded by mysterious gun-toting satchel-carrying motorcycle riders as a seductive blonde woman takes pictures of you with her not-iPhone while under the watchful gaze of a sleazebag sniper, who has agitated a mistreated dog named Chop who is barking ferociously at a small man in shorts riding a not-Seadoo above a man who doesn't know the meaning of gun discipline watching a not-Audi R8 attempting to park on top of a police sawhorse, which a police car is not taking kindly to. _________________ HeavyViper@Twitter ~~~ HeavyViper@Soundcloud

That about sums it all up, yes, except for one small detail: Chop is Franklin's dog and I don't think he mistreats him. Or rather I hope he doesn't because while I have no qualms about playing as a guy who kills people for money I will not play one who is mean to his pets. There are some lines you just don't cross.
Kind of hoping now that Franklin does mistreat Chop just so I can see that sentiment expressed seriously. _________________

it is about time this is released, since I am slowly progressing through the list of artists featured on Electro Ccc~ccchoc.
Found (surprisingly) an album of Autechre (though not the song featured in Sleeping Dogs/on Warp Radio) yesterday, but decided to go with Boys Noize for now. _________________

I really hope they have randomly occurring Critical Mass cyclists filling the streets at night. It would be fun to hop in a bus and barrel through 500 cyclists. _________________

Did you know that one of the stats GTA IV tracks is "addiction level"? Go into the stat screen and check it out. It changes based on how long you've been playing. I recall one level being "Beats any meat injection", a reference to the film Trainspotting.
GTA IV also tracks how far you've driven, giving you a relative distance (i.e. "From Liberty City to San Andreas"). _________________

Also there appears to be a live action commercial for the game coming up at some point if the pictures from this imgur are correct.

This is the background video from the Kifflom screensaver posted yesterday. It's just a few scenes but it's clearly in-game footage. Check out those waves during the lighthouse scene! And when you see the mountainous area on the right you can see a few lights moving along the edge which are presumably distant cars traveling along a road.
Those water effects are the most impressive in any GTA yet. Vice City Stories has wave-like water physics but this is on a whole other level. And those cars, if those are indeed cars, really proves the thing they said during the previews earlier about how they're drawing the whole map this time and not having any cutoff to the draw distance.
Also the light cycling from day to night looks really nice. GTA IV's crosshatched shadows are a thing of the past. _________________

Thanks smithee! This series is one of the few things that makes me feel like a kid again, in the sense of being un-cynical about everything and such. You aren't the first person to express enjoyment at my enthusiasm and I'm only too happy to give it to you. Whether you play it anytime soon or not you can always play it vicariously through me. _________________

Love it. Really hope the dialogue is actually as funny as it is in these trailers and it's not just the editing on the trailers. I also like how each character has such a different vibe to them. Michael is all off beat and depressed, Franklin is struggling with his environment and Trevor is just crazy. Can't wait to see what they all get up to on their own when you aren't playing as them.
Also check out those scenes where Michael is robbing the money truck. Things like that are going to be the kind of RDR-inspired random events you can partake in when out and about.
And the vistas and views. This game is so gorgeous it hurts. I can't wait to explore this thing and see it all from every angle. Also the Lost MC are back and bullets leave exit wounds on people now like in RDR. And the gang colors for the Ballaz and the Grove Street Families show up too so I hope both those gangs are back. Also the contrasts between areas, like rich/poor or urban/rural are nicely pronounced but not over done. Somehow with no doubt hundreds of peoe working on this game the whole thig still manages to feel like the same place. Like each environment seems like it belongs in the world and has its place. Nothing seems disjointed.
Looks like Rockstar are still only showing certain parts of the game too since there were a number of places talked about in previews, like the military base, that we haven't seen yet.
There's supposedly some new online previews showing up this week as well with some new information. I'll keep an eye out for those. _________________

I really like Rockstar's suggested idea of the protagonists of the GTA III era existing in the HD Universe as urban legends. I can imagine veteran Ballaz spooking new initiates with stories about this Grove Street dude who, no joke, would fly into their turf on a fucking jetpack with an SMG in each hand and waste the entire block.
There must be like a dozen washed out mafiosos in Vice City all claiming to be Tommy Vercetti. _________________
