If you try to join a solo game you can get up to the race but I can't ever get the race to load. I don't know why they force you to do a race to begin with, people could at least be playing now if it was optional.

When I replay the game on pc I'm going to make michael shave his head and do the kifflom cult stuff during the part where his family has left him. Seems like the most appropriate place for it.

I got through the initial race. When I approached my next goal, my body disappeared as soon as I got out of the car. Could still get in and drive my car. No visible body. No movement outside of car. Then the world had a seizure, loading and unloading textures/geometry at seeming random.

Eventually it worked properly, a bit.

Did a job with a guy jacking a car. He stole it, I rode shotgun. We were pursued by armed guards, then got a wanted level. His strategy for losing the cops was to drive into a construction site which, it turned out, had no outlet but the entrance and a lot of tight spaces. After a minute and a half of beating the car to shit he parked, got out, and walked around to the passenger side while I automatically took the wheel.

A moment made better by our lack of voice chat probably.

I was also in a race with another yegg.

the online mode is way more hilarious if you pretend your creepy create-a-criminal is a Terminator.

i did one race and one chase where the car with the drugs may as well have been made up titanium. then on the drive home the random other online player and i fought over the radio station choices.

it's pretty fun.

So, I understand having a Vehicle Ownership System. If you invest a bunch of gamebucks in a ride you don't want to lose it to chance. I even understand locking Really Fancy Stolen Cars out of it, so everyone isn't sporting an Infernus day one and forever. I'm happy to earn my right to run over confused rank 2 players at 300 mph while shouting profanity into a headset without worrying about autotrouble from the cops.

But.

Having every goddamn car in the game attract cop attention until you spray is fucking stupid. It's just an extra layer of hassle. And making the get-the-car-you've-invested-$-in-back-from-the-cops a matter of stealing it (you just pay $250 in the story mode), which comes with an automatic 2 stars and teleporting cops shooting you in the back of the head while you wait for the gate to slowly open is just
