A mesmerising trailer from what will probably be one of the best films in recent memory.

Also, a couple of clips. Reminiscent in colonial context to the Costa and Denis body, but with a more surreal and hypnotic approach of its own (I couldn't get the old embed codes for youtube and vimeo btw).

It will get a U.K. release on September 7. Sadly no official date for a U.S. release, though it has been picked up by a small ultra-niche distributor (i.e. you'll have a hard time seeing this if you don't live on the coasts :/ )

I hope it ends up as a prequel that is also a sequel to Junior, in which Schwarzenegger gives birth to himself and Danny DeVito.

In case you guys are wondering. Schwarzenegger is in Chrome's spell check, but DeVito is not.

Joachim Phoenix as a soldier instantly reminded me of Buffalo Soldiers, which I wouldn't mind rewatching, even though I worry that it will turn out to be the ultimate
freshman bro romp (which is certainly what the trailer sells it as).

Anyway, I'm not usually a big proponent of acting as transformation or whatever, but I was pretty impressed by how un-Joachim-Phoenix-like Joachim Phoenix
was being in one of the other trailers.

Didn't Godard use some camera phone footage in Film Socialisme?

I'm surprised that isn't more of a thing, yet.

Huh. Teenagers haven't looked more middle-aged since 90210.

Looks kinda mediocre, but maybe a better kind of mediocre?

I hope Javier Bardem rocking goofy haircuts whenever he plays a villain becomes his signature.

Great contribution Q, adding a useless safety feature that shines a bunch of green lights in your face while you're trying to aim.

Instead he should of been like

Q: I have something the boys in the lab just came up with Mr. Bond. It's called, ".45 caliber." You've never used anything like it before.

hey maybe they're being smart -- there's that weird dissonance of voice and design in the games, eh.

So do we think Statham has a good American accent up his sleeve? Or is he just going to go the Arnold route and keep his accent and pretend it's not there?

Many Americans have accents. We're a nation of immigrants.
