Wonder if they're gonna re-encode videos, clean up backgrounds using the original source assets and have the soundtrack not be in MIDI this time arPFFFFFFFFFFFFFFT! _________________

Valve has had a pretty elaborate ARG going for the past 3 years apparently with TF2
It seems like it's finally starting to reach its culmination now with this link recently being broadcasted on all servers after someone solved a bunch of cryptic stuff that's been popping up in the last few days. People speculate TF2 horde mode. _________________

You scoff mightily but TF2 in-app-purchases have probably earned Valve more dollars than the rest of their post-TF2 software library combined. |
I'm sure they have (recall, last year Valve said they were no longer interested in making single player games. I wonder why that might be!)
but like
a 3 year arg for a mode in a game is pretty bad no matter how many dollar cakes are involved |
That video shows, like, six hints over the three years, and they're all easy goofy stuff like hidden or coded textures/models. It's not exactly a "3-year ARG" of people running around Paris looking at billboards or whatever. |
I wouldn't say it was a three year arg so much as easter eggs liberally sprinkled through their updates to foreshadow for those ridiculously die-hard fans. The actual ARG was started when the website and game was updated over the weekend, where it was deciphered in 12 hours and led to what Ymer posted. |
yeah, after actually reading up on the thing a bit myself I sort of started to realize that I kind of blew things out of proportion. sorry... _________________

Well there are these 3 hats that you get to only own for a day if you the previous day you either gave out more Christmas gifts then anyone else, won the most duels with other players or bought the most stamps to support the community map-makers of your choice (all of these tasks require their own unique, store-bought item). These hats actually keep whatever cosmetic changes made to them by the previous owners (colour, name, description). Those are the sole exceptions I think and everything else is kept yours till the end. In short though, Valve is growing more powerful then anyone can possibly imagine. _________________

Well, the dating game was actually a western one called "Seduce" or something like that. Looked like it had surprisingly high production values actually. All 2d (might have been traced I guess, didn't see) _________________
