using these new rules, a slightly modified, better version of the CORPSE BOMB build
when I reach the required level I am immediately going to find out how viable this thing is |

Are we going to be able to have hotkeyed skill presets for quick switching? I wasn't paying attention during the open beta. _________________ I'm on Steam! ----- I'm on Youtube!

you will lose loot if you switch abilities.
Basically the way it will work out is once you hit 60 every elite monster you kill (the glowing really tough groups with extra abilities) during a single run will add an extra magic/rare item drop to the boss when you kill them as well as bump up the rarity of the drops.
Changing specs or exiting out to the main menu will reset this counter. The idea is that you will explore all the nooks and crannies of the randomly generated dungeons instead of just farming bosses non-stop with the optimal build for just that boss.
I like this system, makes general survivability (if you're solo) or making a build that fits in with a particular role (for group play) actually make a bit of a long term difference if you want the guaranteed extra loot drops, rather than just going "oh I need all range on this guy" or "this fight is all AOE so I'll just spec for that". But it also leaves the door open for switching specs if the abilities you have just simply can't handle a certain encounter.
Also here is the mass AOE hit-and-run "MAGIC MUST DIE" barb I want to try out
STOMP STOMP *runs away*
It loads up on armor so physical attacks won't be very effective. The idea is that you will stomp in for a 3 sec stun, then when that wears you normal stomp for another 4 sec stun, then run away when that is over and wait a couple of seconds for jumping stomp to go off cool down then repeat. Ideally you will only take a 3-4 seconds of actual damage for every 15 that you are in combat. the damage comes from a rageless earthquake on a 35 sec cool down with a beefed cleave for normal swings, keeping rend up will give healing as you run away waiting for the cool down on leap. use the sprint that has knock back so you don't get locked into a group of enemies with no way to run away.
thorn gear won't help all that much because you won't be getting hit as often as normal barbs and it will always have a ton of rage so +rage regen is useless. it'll stack up on STR, VIT, +healing %. if it ends up taking too little damage then I'll change out one of the armor boosting passives for the +25% damage at max-rage passive.
Oh god the talons... they dig deeper...
EDIT: oops my bad Fly, changed it

Wow. It's called the Nephalem Valor system. And I like it!
Also, that link to my barbarian build is now NOTHING like what I actually made.
Wait, nevermind. It's your build, in my clickable, in the quote of my post. In my original post it's still intact. _________________ I'm on Steam! ----- I'm on Youtube!

| Wait why would I take the time to kill 60 elites in a row to get one additional item when I could just fight the boss twice in like half the time. I mean it's a good idea but I don't think that execution sounds right... |

1. where did you get that number
2. every item comes from everywhere, each elite you kill also gives you loot (apparently at almost the same average quality as already-defeated bosses), and better loot from the next elite, et cetera _________________ I'm on Steam! ----- I'm on Youtube!

I read his post incorrectly, but it was:
"Basically the way it will work out is once you hit 60 every elite monster you kill (the glowing really tough groups with extra abilities) during a single run will add an extra magic/rare item drop to the boss when you kill them as well as bump up the rarity of the drops. "
Rereading it, it sounds great  |

Yeah, that system sounds awesome. I've always been the type that just didn't "feel right" without poking into every corner of a Diablo level and now there's finally a mechanical reason to do so. _________________ Let's Play, starring me. |

Well, I was totally unaware of the loot/spec swap system. Sounds pretty nice, but in the end I doubt it will prevent boss runs. Maybe curb them somewhat, but good players are always going to have really efficient means of getting to and killing a boss, and that's always going to deliver stuff more quickly than search-every-corner-for-extra-loot

I see your selfish max tank build, and raise you a full utility, off-tank monk! (there sure are a lot of possible variations of this build)

Actually, seeing as they made it so you make a game by picking a quest, you effectively lock yourself out of later stuff by picking something early on and I'd bet good money you can't travel back to previous acts if you pick a late-game quest. I do like the idea that the way to get the best loot is full-game run-throughs, if only for how crazy it is and in spite of how it reflects the lessons learned with WoW in the battle for game time. _________________

I found a dude who was reading a tome, didn't want me to see it, and threw some gold dismissively onto the ground to pay me to go away.
Then I reached for the tome and he attacked me, and dropped an item. I don't think I ever figured out what the tome was about, but I don't remember.
Also the first time I saw one of those big spiky construct things, there was a mini-event while I was fighting him, right nearby, where one randomly materializes out of the ground. That was a random event but I thought the construct dudes could summon themselves and I started panicking, thinking I was going to get overrun by them. _________________ I'm on Steam! ----- I'm on Youtube!

I had one where I had to hold off an endless wave of skeletons for a time limit. It got frantic but was over too soon. That minute or two was probably the funnest time I had with the beta though. _________________

Exciting things to run into, pretty fun. I got the jar of souls twice. It's like "JUST SURVIVE FOR THIS AMOUNT OF TIME!" The time seems super short, like there's a handful of easy skeletons and the time is a quarter gone and you're like "uhhh?? okay?" But then before you know it you're swarmed. |

They're actually not supposed to be, there was a bug during the beta where the same events spawn for each person most of the time, and if you want a good chance at seeing the other events you had to join other people's games.
For example, there was a CHIEVO for completing the jar of souls event, and a CHIEVO for completing the matriarch's bones event. Well me and my bro both did the jar of souls, but only one or the other event spawns in each game, so we made a new game. 15 times in a row, jar of souls. We hit the forums, and tons of people were having the same problems. _________________ I'm on Steam! ----- I'm on Youtube!

hmmm
I never did play a multiplayer game that wasn't doing the last quest, so that would explain all the matriarch quests. I guess I can't really say about the tome guy because most of the (zillions) of multiplayer runs I did were not exactly what you would call thorough, so that's probably the case. good to know shit is gonna be more mixed up when the real game hits |

I hear that, man. Truth told, my brother and I are massive, massive pushover tools for the Diablo games. We got Diablo II the day it came out and have been playing it on and off ever since.
So naturally this past weekend we played the hell out of it. Of COURSE, I ended up being busy all of Friday and most of Saturday, and half of Sunday. Still almost got the BetaMaxed CHIEVO where you max-level every character, which would have got me every CHIEVO they had for the beta. _________________ I'm on Steam! ----- I'm on Youtube!

Well I did get every Beta achievement and I feel pretty okay... I didnt teally work all that hard for em though... They were all pretty easy. =\
Also, on the Diablo 3 website there is an event where each week you can unlock a class-specific banner sigil for in-game. If you missed em so far, dont worry because you can get them all a week before the games servers unlock.
Blizz is debating making hardcore characters die for good in PvP (as of release they wont...but it can be patched)
I found multiplayer with random people pretty empty and most likely won't do a lot of it on release. Everyone just sorta rushes to the end trying their hardest to silenrly outpace the rest of the group. With friends though. co-op is a blast and I couldnt get enough, especially over skype or the like.

The RMT auction house is sort of interesting until you remember that any money that goes in the system, stays in the system, as far as I can see. I was hoping to see someone crazy enough to try to live off of D3 loots. _________________

Yeah, it's in the FAQ. Basically when you sell something, they take a $1 cut off the top if it's a piece of equipment, or 15% if it's something like a recipe, dye or materials. Then they take another 15% if you cash out. _________________ I'm on Steam! ----- I'm on Youtube!

So, since this is 5 days away, is anyone going to be all over this Tuesday? I found out I have the 15th off (in fact, it's the only day I have off next week and all my hours are day-night), so I'm probably playing all day Tuesday and was curious if anyone wanted to do a grindy-ass day of runs and shit.
Alternatively, we can start dumping b.net usernames and hook up eventually. _________________

I will be playing all day tuesday as well!
or, well, I will once I get it in the mail. opted for REAL BOX version because that's just the way it goes for blizzard games. probably has something to do with them only offering direct digital copies for like a year and a half or something. also pre-ordering with amazon through team liquid gives them referral cash and team liquid is cool
battle tag thing is Honuk1266. I will be playing a BARBARIAN and he will be named HONUK |

Scans/pictures of the strategy guide are floating around the internet. I have spoiled myself rotten and my initial impressions are that no one will be getting 100% achievements for a while and that I am scared shitless of Inferno, partially because of numbers but mostly because of some of the new monster traits.
And because I forgot, my tag is sheeps#1983. _________________

some of those spreadsheets are pretty scary. In Inferno a normal monster has 70k health, the rare version of the same monster has over 1.5 mil as well as multiple random enchants... not to mention a group of minions with them that have health in the 500k range... also with enchants.
... can't wait to get slaughtered over and over in inferno |
