Are these numbers already scaled up for a max # of players?

Lol!

And I don't know the answer to that, Touran, as it doesn't specify on the scans to my knowledge.
I can't imagine the 'default' calculations listed as a 4-player game, though.

yeah they should just knock a zero off of everything if they're going to scale numbers exponentially in the final difficulty setting. what is going to happen when they add new content? are inferno mobs in Diablo III: Blank of Blank going to hit for SIX MILLION!?!?!?!?

Funny you should say that as Blizz announced a while ago that the next WoW expansion they are going to start abbreviating the numbers as they are getting pretty out of hand. (254,345 = 254k etc) then the expansion after that they are just going to remove the "k" all together and make an honest to goodness stat squish across the board... don't see why they wouldn't adopt this for Diablo after an expansion or two (three?... EIGHT?!)

Edit: also from reading the achievement list it seems there are no achievements for inferno ACT III&IV. In an interview one of the designers said that nobody on the team has legitimately beaten inferno yet. Wonder if they were just being snarky or if thats true... CAN that even be true? the hell Blizz?

I hear you can get Cataclysm and a free month with a rez scroll now.

(I just want to know when Torchlight II is out.)

This smacks of the overhard early WoW raid engineering where the final bosses were basically unbeatable until they toned them down, so I wouldn't be surprised.

Well, they don't have a final date, but they've been handing out a bunch of beta keys recently. TLII is quality, except for the part where my hardcore Outlander died 10 seconds before the boss my group was fighting did. At least I didn't get enough time to grow attached to my next HC toon (Punchfight, you were taken from us far too soon).

The Asia and EU launches of the game have gone as expected

Also I think it's time we shank the 'Get Beta' from the thread title.

I don't understand why people expect Blizzard to have anything resembling a smooth launch at this point. Even D2 got complaints because of a day 0 patch.

I'm more interested with reports of Koreans clearing normal already. Seems like a casual playthrough should be 8-10 hours, then NM, then Hell, then Inferno. Looks like there's plenty of playtime awaiting, assuming of course one can actually connect to battle.net.

Anybody who wants to give away their guest pass deal thing I wouldn't mind taking one off somebody's hands. I'll be getting the game eventually I guess but I can only afford one sixty dollar game at a time and Max Payne is the priority right now.

I would be happy to accept an unclaimed guest pass...! I tried the beta a few months ago; wouldn't mind giving it a look now.

edit: Thanks, Touran!!

I won't be seriously playing this for a little while as I want to try to hit Demon's Souls hard before the end of the month and then finish the Mass Effects and play the earlier Diablos, which is kind of good because it will give Blizzard time to fix stuff in D3. But I am installing this thing right now, and I'd like to see whatever it has for a friends list fill up with peeps; so add me, yeah?

internisus#1108

If anyone itt also plays Starcraft 2, I only have the starter kit for the moment but I'd like you dudes in there as well: internisus#673

Really looking forward to playing this game over and over and over!

Yeah, as of 1:45 AM PDT, the problem has moved from "Error 37" to timing out on accessing hero server, so either you lose forward progress just before character creation or as you're submitting your character.

Funnily enough, when I finally got in, the wizard I made at launch time was actually there, in spite my thinking the servers had crapped out.

Just finished Act I. It seems a bit too easy at this point (which isn't to say that I've come close to dying), almost like the numbers are skewed way in favor of players. With that said, about 4 hours for the act while going at a leisurely stroll and probing every nook and cranny.

Also got a rare WD head and +str shoulder clogging up my stash. Free to anyone who wants.

Feels like some things were changed since I played the beta a few months ago. Could just be my imagination, but... I dunno, the barbarian feels a lot more crunchy and fun to play with right now. Maybe it's also just that I'm not so obsessed with a certain other game for the moment. Right now I'm interested in seeing whether I'll end up liking this more over Torchlight II or not... though it doesn't really matter, since I guess I'll be playing both, anyway. That is, I'll most likely upgrade from my guest pass to a full game at some point soon. Probably. It's a little weird admitting I like a new Blizzard game, but what the hey.

Oh, right, battle.net: remote#1680

Something unexpected happened at the end of Act II: an actual, honest-to-god boss fight with some thought put into it. When I say this, a lot of times in games of this ilk, boss fights involve standing back and spamming The Skill, running up and attacking mindlessly while chugging pots or constant jousting. The boss starts out a bit like this, then goes into a second phase which is pretty mechanically similar to the Dark Falz fight from PSO, with the main difference being that every attack can be avoided. Like, it feels kind of dumb being impressed by something that would be sort of rudimentary in another genre, but they managed to make the ebb and flow of move-attack-dodge just feel so right that it feels like a breath of fresh air.

On an unrelated note, it would be nice if Blizzard spun off their cinematics unit and let them do something well written (the illustration cutscenes are aesthetically fantastic and the full CG ones are so damn classy looking, they were done in scope. Well, aside from the fact the Leah happens to have perfectly maintained fingernails. No, I don't know why I notice that).

I don't get. I think I get it, but I prolly don't! World First is just so... what's the point really?

I just can't get interested in this stuff now. I even watched a bit on Jtv last night and just didn't click. Even Torchlight II, I'm mildly interested, but not like I used to be. Just weird because I still like to fire up Diablo ONE every few years.

Nedge, you serious about the free level 80 toon? That's hilarious and sad.

Played and enjoyed the first hour or so, apart from the somewhat frequent 3-20 second lag in my single player videogame; servers seemed to have just crashed/been taken down. I mean I guess it is to be expected, should have waited a week or whatever, but I guess like the rest of the suckers I have a powerful nostalgia for this specific brand of click fighting. "I am the Skeleton King and I was awakened by the Fallen Star", I mean this is some stupid shit but I can't resist.

This game is beautiful and also very fun (and I assume eventually it will also be challenging and mechanically interesting), but god damn is the plot and dialogue dumb.
