Hell I hope so that's happening to me, too.
Spent the afternoon making hot playfun with Monster Hunter Freedom Unite after an 18 month break. Super good with that right-stick remapping trick, and prettier than I remembered. _________________

Two weeks until I get a Vita. I've decided on getting the 3G version, assuming I can find it with the 8 gig memory card. If not, I'll just get the wifi version and tether my way to victory. _________________ Keepin' it real like Oatmeal |

OK, so I picked up Uncharted for cheap. I've never played any of the other games. What do you think? _________________ Keepin' it real like Oatmeal |

uncharted vita is pretty definitively the worst of the series
i enjoyed it a lot, but the setpieces are pretty small, the characters generally not quite as interesting, the gunplay less refined and the pacing is bogged down by infinite collectibles
it's probably the best tps of its kind on a handheld, though, and it's a pretty fun jungle adventure romp.
at the same time it makes a case for what handheld games could be it makes a case for what they aren't: up to par with their home console couterparts
important to note it's made by a studio with no experience making uncharted games ever. i'm pretty sure if sony would let their big names make stuff for the vita, we'd have way better stuff on there, but even though they really want it to have some a+ blockbuster titles they hand it over to their b studios _________________

So I'll give it s shot and if it's horrible I'll trade it in for either Wipeout or Hot Shots Golf.
I'm kind of excited for Gravity Rush. _________________ Keepin' it real like Oatmeal |

I'm pretty excited to try that game.
I'm patiently waiting for my Vita to show up. It's been sitting in a post office location about 40 minutes away from me for the last three days. _________________ Keepin' it real like Oatmeal |

Finally got the Vita after it being shipped back and forth between two different states by the USPS. Either way. It's pretty nice so far. It feels like it does everything right, but that's the danger. It does it so right that it seems like it's going to be harder to get devs to find something new and exciting to do with it. It fits somewhere between 3DS and Iphone, which may be a no man's land I fear.
Anyway, I'm going to try to play through Uncharted and then pick up something else soon. _________________ Keepin' it real like Oatmeal |

It's so good. I'm really digging it.
Should maybe also mention that the PSP Resistance is average in every way.

I'm loving Gravity Rush so far. It's one of those rare games where the world and atmosphere really draw me in. It reminds me of Dragon Quarter somewhat in its aesthetic, though you spend more time outside than in. It's very satisfying to move around. You can basically fly thanks to your gravity powers, but since it's not as simple as that it becomes a lot more fun.
The Gravity Slide technique is particularly impressive. You do it by placing your thumbs in the bottom corners of the touch screen and holding them there, and Kat starts sliding across the ground. Of course with your thumbs on the screen you can't use the analog stick to control the slide, so you have to turn the Vita like you would a steering wheel. But the brilliant part is that the picture always stays oriented to you as the screen turns. I know the 3DS has a gyroscope too but I'm not sure if it can use it in this manner. It's really simple but impressive nonetheless. _________________

Dear Vita thread,
Please talk me down from buying a Vita just for Gravity Rush and maybe Ragnarok Odyssey. I'm tempted real bad, and trying to snipe one of those 160 buck systems off of Amazon isn't helping.
Oh, and is there any more neat original content like the aforementioned coming out soon _________________

Don't buy a PSVita. It'll still be around years from now and at a cheaper price. Same for its games. Why pay more when you can wait and pay less? Seriously. _________________ Get Xenoblade Chronicles!

This game sucked at E3.
If you get a Vita, get it for Gravity Rush, Sound Shapes, and Retro City Rampage. Little Big Planet too, if you're into that sort of thing.

The Vita version of RCR is supposedly the definitive version. Probably not a system seller since it is available elsewhere, yeah. Also Sound Shapes is on PS3 as well as Vita, one of those deals (like Pinball Arcade and Motostorm RC (which are both great) and possibly RCR) where you buy one and get both versions.
Too bad about Orgarhythm sucking, it looks weird enough to try out though. _________________

Dear Vita thread,
I hope this post finds you in good spirits!
I broke down and copped myself a system, mostly because a FYE by me was giving away a free game with systems (I picked me some Hot Shots Golf) along with Gravity Rush. I'm unpacking it now and I intend to be impressed. Now, I merely hope my choice of games wasn't for naught. _________________

I played the first challenge and I don't think I've ever enjoyed a golf game this much. Now I just need to figure out the green reading.
Any cheap PSP recommendations off the PSN store? The Power Stone collection caught my eye and I'll probably get the Ys games eventually, but I don't know much about library aside from those. _________________

Work Time Fun always. Best 10 bucks spent on PSN. I don't know if they ever cut the price of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, but even at $30 that is some serious game. Atlus recently cut their prices so check out Kenka Banchou and portable Persona games. The Prinny games are pretty cheap I think, if a Disgaea-themed Super Ghouls and Ghosts sounds appealing. Half-Minute Hero is great! Some PSP games might not show up searching the store on your Vita, but if you have a PS3 you can transfer them. Work Time Fun won't show up but I know it works, for example. _________________

Man, Hot Shots doesn't have hot seat multiplayer, only multisystem play? That sucks.
Gravity Rush is the best secret magical girl simulator. Probably the only thing I'm not on board with yet is the combat, which comes off a bit like an afterthought. _________________

The combat in Gravity Rush is this: look for chances to gravity kick. Because gravity kicking is really fun.
Can anyone confirm or deny that Gungnir works on the Vita? I want it really bad, but I don't want to have to pull out the old PSP to play it.

Really, if you think about it, the gravity kick is like a Rider Kick you can do in any direction at any time. Other than that yeah the combat is not the strongest point. Gravity slide and throwing rocks and benches seem to be the most effective.
I can't understand why no handheld Hot Shots Golf games have had hotseat multiplayer. It's just a no-brainer inclusion that they must be leaving it out on purpose. The console versions have it! _________________

Man I was going to by this last night while exhausted and was kind of amazed that I couldn't. And the cost of getting it on the Vita has to be close to $0, unless they did something completely wacky and extremely hardware dependent (not likely!). _________________

I don't know, I'm enjoying my expensive portable doohicky, possibly because of a previous lack of expensive portable doohickies in my life
It's a pretty slick piece of hardware. Now, to twiddle my thumbs while waiting for more games. _________________

This is not well-known, but ever since backdoor hacks were found to run unsigned code in the PSP kernal through downloadable titles, Sony has been forcing new certification for PSP titles on Vita to make sure new games don't blow a new hole open. A friend tells me that Gungnir is in the queue right now, but there is no ETA on when it will be available for Vita. _________________

I did not enjoy the demo. It was extremely wordy and tutorial-heavy, and if a game has no respect for my time I refuse to give it my time.

So I guess I'm kind of thinking of picking up a Vita.
Persona, Gravity Rush, portable UMvC3 and all those PSP games I missed out on sound pretty cool.
Question though. Are there many PSX and PSN games available for it?
Oh, and will I be limited if I don't have a PS3 for transferring stuff over?
The 3DS online store is seriously disappointing. Hoping the Vita's will be better. |

PSOne games aren't in yet, but they're saying sometime this summer. On the PSN, there's every Vita game (and nearly all of them have demos), all of the Minis and a decent sampling of PSP games (Xseed and NIS are well represented, as is Capcom). Speaking of which, apparently a few Capcom PSP titles are on sale this week for $5 (Power Stone Col., UGnG and SFA3 Upper).
And I guess if you like you some Monster Hunter, you can remap the face buttons onto the second analog stick, making it some sort of ultimate MH portable. _________________
