Indeed it definitely could.
When you buy a chunk of hardware that is more locked down and less friendly to user choices than the last generation, remember that you're telling them that this is entirely okay to do and you're 100% cool with them taking stuff away as long as you get to play your video games.
I'm skipping this gen most likely unless they surprise me by letting people actually do what they want with they things they buy.
