Yes, ports of stuff like Nights need a strong business case vs. repackaging an improved version of their Model 2 emulator again.

Sonic the Fighters.... isn't as deep as I remember it being...

Though it is nice to get all the trophies in less than hour. It's kinda ridiculous.

I wonder if I should buy Fighting Vipers too. It's only 5 dollars for arcade perfect ports. I think my childhood self would hate me now.

I question the blondness of Ax Battler and Tyris, but that aside it's a very swell picture. I'd put it on my wall.

I'm fully aware that it's not without precedence, I question it nonetheless. It's not a dealbreaker by any means, though. :)

I fancy brunette Tyris myself but her body was already so tanned that I thought it'd contrast better with the sky to blonde her up too. Ax Battler I made based on the Megadrive art too just because it was more distinctive than the short brunette version.

Actually nearly all the gals on the cover are blonde hmmm

So I had no idea there was a Sega produced Castlevania ripoff for the Game Gear called IN THE WAKE OF VAMPIRE:

Just found out about it because it's on the Virtual Console for 3ds in Japan. It's kinda interesting!

To be fair, that could be SoA/SoJ's judgement call more than the developer's.

But yeah, I'm disappointed there isn't ridiculous neon and anime-infused 90s streetpunks.

I rather like it! The music and design is a bit bland, but I sure spent more time with it than the NES Castlevanias.

GRIN was working on some fort of SOR remake thing when they folded, too, so when I first caught wind of this video I was more than a little surprised to see it was a completely different project. Turns out I know a dude who worked on this one too! Weird.

Also yeah it looks fucking horrible and I'm kind of bewildered as to why it's getting positive feedback from anyone. Can't say I'm particularly heartbroken about this not getting off the ground, but it kinda makes me wonder if Sega (of America) are eager to do something with SOR at some point. I'd like to think they canned this because it looks bad and nothing like SOR, but that would probably be giving SOA a bit too much credit.

So I was thinking, "what would a VF Kids look like using modern day VF models?"

If there was going to be a new Streets of Rage I would hope that the yakuza team would make it in between the latest numbered entries, they already have a decent framework for 3d beat em' ups in place.

Persona you do know that the Tera Drive is a Thing that actually exists, right? It's basically a PC with a MD cart slot.

That Akira is glorious. He kinda needs a cuter face, though.

I got my HG101 book.

I really love it, but on the comparison screenshot pages, I wish they included the Saturn ports of Outrun, Space Harrier, and Afterburner. They compare quite favorably to the Arcade originals!

Yeah, Kurt was tweeting that the Saturn versions might have enhanced features over the arcade version? I forget the details but maybe it was like a better frame rate or cleaner sprites or something?

It's nice to know the Saturn Sega Ages ports were unique in some way though!

Also I haven't even seen the book yet. Is it nice? Did you get a B/W copy?

I got the color one. Well worth it!

I only have Saturn Outrun because unlike the American release of SEGA AGES, the JP ones are all separate disc releases unfortunately. Graphics are arcade-perfect. There is a new 60fps mode (Arcade was just 30fps) and arranged soundtrack. The AST is wonderful, and I switch between it and the OG often. 60 fps I don't really fuck with though because it's kinda interpolated and fakey, and the game's logic is still 30fps regardless as far as I can tell.

Oh man, this is like the only guy on Youtube who has an upload of any song from his (relatively) new album!

Like a year ago I asked him if he could upload a copy of the album for me and the guy straight up mailed me copies of both of Take-san's 2 albums and the entire Daytona USA OST boxset!! Such a bro ;_____;

If you want, Schwere, I can upload Take-san's albums for you~
I especially love the fact that he made a vocal rendition of Bark's theme from Sonic the Fighters! Of all the songs, BARK"S THEME!

This is heartening news. Anyone play the vita version or know if it is up to snuff?

EDIT: Seems like it is at least decent from what I can tell.
