| Anyone have the Japan-only PS2 "OutRun 2 SP Special Tours" and is it worth paying ridiculous ebay reseller prices if I already have 2006? Prob answered my own question :/ From what I've read all it really has over 2006 is better steering wheel support and some older Sega racing game-themed levels included in the first Xbox port and later arcade versions but was just curious/looking for reasons to get further into debt |

It supports the Force Feedback wheels from Logitech and comes with a Soundtrack CD. I didn't recognize any additional levels though, could you provide a source for that info? It does include some more ending animations, like the space shuttle starting or the volcano erupting, that weren't included in 2006 due to time constraints.
It might be just as "cheap" to get a used 360 / PS3 that has Online Arcade installed. I have not played Online Arcade, but from what I've heard it might be the definitive home conversion.
My advice: go all the way and burn 5 grand on a twin cabinet. |

I thought Online Arcade only had the SP courses, whereas C2C/2006 has both 2 and 2SP courses
I could be wrong, I didn't grab Online Arcade since I had C2C on my PC _________________

I like drafting and the things that fly by in-between stages to indicate your performance, but playing 2 in C2C or SP still kinda sucks because they cut the ending movies and name entry and just award you some stupid in-game currency instead.
This is what sucks about C2C and SP in general: no name entry at the end, no intro movie and demo and high score display at the beginning. The original OutRun2 on Xbox was the better arcade conversion by far, I don't care about all the crap they added, because they forgot all the important details.
This is why I'd really like to try Online Arcade at some point and see if it actually is closer to the arcade version.
PS: I just remembered another thing OutRun2SP on PS2 has over OutRun2006: the first option selected after starting the game is the arcade mode and not that stupid tacked on Coast 2 Coast mode. |

| The XBLA version has 720p and online support, looks gorgeous and all that, but aside from what was mentioned it has no local MP (unsure if any other versions did), and it has less music than even the original OutRun2 Xbox port. I'd be very hard pressed to consider it the 'definitive' home version. |

Can't you include your own MP3s?
Also local MP? Well, the original Xbox versions have system link (and PS2 may have it too), but as it is the case with all home conversions, it's pretty forgettable because there's no traffic. Or do you mean that hot-seat multiplayer mode in OutRun2 (and maybe 2006?), that one was kinda neat but no replacement for the butchered system link. |

Either or is more than the XBLA version has, which is zilch.
The 360's custom soundtrack feature is amazingly stupidly implemented in that you can't actually copy files over to your 360 HDD in any way, you can only rip audio CDs. So no, you can't use your own MP3's. Regardless it's a moot point because it would be no more a replacement for the original port's various remixes etc than, I dunno, listening to whatever music on your PC while playing the game on your Xbox. |

just to be pedantic, you can also put them on a usb stick or mp3 player and plug it in and play your playlist from there
but yes you can't actually replace/choose individual songs as you would really want to |

| I hate the 360's bastardization of the OG Xbox's awesome soundtrack feature. |

COMPANY RUINED
I wanna make a Devil Busters reference but I'm sure whoever had any assets (Sega, Sims, or in a very unlikely occurrence Atlus) threw them out/wrote over them long ago. |
