According to their Facebook page, Sega has patched proper analog support into Nights:

| We've released a patch for NiGHTS into dreams... on PSN and XBLA. First, we’ve adjusted the controls to allow analog input in 24 directions, which will give you greater control. Second, we’ve changed the drill-dash speed so it aligns with the Saturn version of the game. The patch is available now! |

Thanks for this, playing the demo I actually decided to not buy it specifically because of this control issue (it converted the analog stick to a 8-way :(). I'll almost certainly end up buying it now. |

| I just heard about this for the iphone. It's a pretty cool little Outrun-a-like. Definitely worth a buck. |
That game was made by a rather interesting dude. Among other things, he ported Battle Arena Toshinden to DOS, was one of the coders of the early PSX emulator PSEmu Pro, and he also worked on Tetris the Grand Master 3. He's basically an Italian with a blackbelt in coding that moved to Japan to live the dream, only to quit a Squeenix job to try his luck with his own one-man mobile startup.
In other random trivia, Brandon Sheffield interviewed this guy years back only to never post the interview. :( |
