I've been considering doing this

I...don't remember this event.
Just strange seeing this with the springtime and warming weather, I always get the Kawazu Kick for about a week in June-ish. But I'm not ready now!
I've still yet to finish Saga Frontier. It's something I like to inch through about once every year, complete a scenario. |
I've been doing this with Gears since its PC release. I'm halfway through Act 5 by now!
The thing with Saga Frontier is that you get a lot of joy from successive repetition and a few of the scenarios are pretty bad, so I'd be inclined to barrel through the good half of the game quickly (which I've done a couple of times) rather than stretching it out like that.
Blue's is one of my favourites, simply because you get the jRPG arc of growing progressively more and more stupid-powerful in a grand total of about three hours, which is really what Saga Frontier is good at. Red and T260G both have nice, punchy, tight narratives with a lot of unique content you don't see in the others. Asellus' almost pulls this off, but it's a little flaky and unless you're used to building Mystics, you end up needing to grind too much. Emelia's and Riki's basically give you aspects from other characters' scenarios under less enjoyable circumstances. Lute's just lets you do whatever the hell you want, which isn't actually as much fun as playing through as Blue, Red, or T260G.
God love Chrono Cross. I really do think it's the best jRPG ever, just like Chrono Trigger is the best jRPG ever, but on a completely different axis. 32-bit vs. 16-bit era arguably has a lot to do with that. |

The turbo button and all gambits available from the start does do a lot, guys. |
holy shit I didn't know either of these things and one of them on its own would've been sufficient to get me to play it |

for what it's worth, I haven't played a square title newer than ffxii, despite lots of well-meaning advice to check out twewy/nier/dqix.
I just really like ffxii. |

SaGa 2 DS and SaGa Frontier are probably the easiest to get into (and fairly representative). Frontier 2 is lovely but nothing like a SaGa game, the GB ones are really something but not in any way you wouldn't get from 2DS/Frontier, and the SNES/PS2 ones are generally a pretty interesting but thoroughly mixed bunch.
FF4 and 8 are pretty much required if you ask me, though they're also jRPGs and only 4 is tolerably brisk (in both its original and remade forms). it's difficult to have played 6, 7, or 9 without having a lot of affection for them, but if you didn't dig jRPGs in the 90s you're certainly not going to care now. |

| Guys I am enjoying the shit out of FFXII. I seem to remember that there's no game for a good little while right after you get all six party members, but I'm not there just yet! |

| I didn't even realize how many GC/PS2 games supported 16:9 (what with never actually owning an HDTV), but let me tell you, it's been a nice treat when emulating F-Zero/SotC/Burnout/FFXII/Soul Calibur/Brawl. |
