while moving some files last night I looked through a folder of misc images. I had saved a number of screens and character art pics from the reveal of the mobile spinoff. Did that ever come out in the US?
edit: good job top post |

Or they can merge the threads.
DAIS, as far as I know there's no plans to bring the mobile spin-off stateside. _________________

yeah i figured we just decided to drop this thread when the other one got made. we should probably just fuse them together if that's possible?
re: mobile game: since DD didn't find the same levels of mass-popularity outside of japan, I'm not surprised that it didn't make it over. It was card-based and didn't look particularly interesting.
you PS+ people should go download dark arisen and play the expansion as soon as you can. it shows a lot of promise for the future of this series. i still love it like a dumb child for some reason. I fire it up every few weeks and dress up my people for dungeon crawling kill time. _________________

I min/maxed so after I stun-killed Death the first time I decided I was done with DA. To be honest I would have much preferred if they had simply built out a place inside the game world rather than separating it off into an island. Though the other obnoxious thing about the game is how much the game wants you to buy rift crystals. Not necessary for the sake of playing the game, but certainly obnoxious. _________________

i have now played this game for like 10 hours and i have no clue what you mean about min-maxing or, like, anything
this game is weird and full of tons of bullshit, but i'm enjoying exploring its world!
like, uh, it took me hours to realize that only my main pawn levels up, and the others do not
that's actually... kinda neat! i will use some of my sb friends' pawns once i'm up to their levels
hopefully just brute-forcing my way through this game means i'll get some fun and challenge out of it _________________

It's built like an MMO, so if you want to challenge yourself don't use healing items and use low damage weapons.
As for the whole min-maxing thing, I would rather not say anything about it, because if you are a min-maxer you'll instantly be frustrated by the game. _________________

i mean yeah that's kind of the impression i got
like, i'll min/max in dark souls because i know how to make a build for pvp, but in this game you just level up and ... ?! _________________

I think it would be neat if your friend's pawns just auto-adjusted to your level, because my pawn is level 140+ and nobody's going to want to rent her…
I've had a rented healer pawn that's been level 40 for most of BBI, and she rocks. _________________

Once you can kill a chimera you are pretty much set to beat the game. I found that the hardest encounters in the game were usually high level bandit camps. _________________ 3DS Friendcode: 2337-3480-4823

nice
so does assassin get any more fun than just mashing out dagger flurries?
kinda tempted to try mystic knight
edit: figured out shortly after posting this yesterday that the gran soren innkeeper lets you learn and set skills, too, and i had just overlooked this. switched to mystic knight, bought a staff and a huge fuckin' mace and now i am having me some fun.
stayed up until 3am playing this, even. yeah. _________________

the mage classes can be fun. really, every class has some fun stuff to do. So try them all at some point! Ranger is as good a class as any to start in. Bascially you see the biggest stat growth the first ten levels, a regular amount up to fifty, and then it tapers off.
For stat growth:
Rangers generally get more stamina
Mages more magick attack
Fighters more physical attack
hybrid classes spread stat growth out between their two parent classes
But the game was designed with the idea that the player could switch classes whenever. if you basically pick one class and stick to it, you'll be invincible by 50. The difficulty is a little unbalanced, but if you're creative and put limitations on yourself you can keep things interesting. But no matter what, the game is always pretty fun. _________________

Stat growth is detailed in the Dragon's Dogma wiki. Basically my discovery was that Magick Archer was my favorite class to play but had terrible stat growth and thus I never played as them until I reached the level cap. That said, reaching the level cap with max stat growth as a Magick Archer makes them kill everything absurdly quickly. (if you min/max you get about 1000 extra MATK at level 200) You can get to level 200 in a few hours though once you unlock the Ur-Dragon.
As for Assassins, you will be spending all your time doing fancy Dagger combos. They do have a riposte skill which allows them to do extra damage and riposte if they would be hit. They also have an invisibility skill which allows them to become invisible (good for running through BBI on subsequent runs to get the waypoints).
All this said, any character can be broken if you understand how the game's buff system works. _________________

the "arousing suspicion" quest is the weirdest thing and makes absolutely no sense after you've escaped and everyone just forgets you were thrown in the dungeon. i can only guess it was thrown in there as another bit of berserk fanservice, since it reminded me of the scene where griffith visits the princess on a number of levels. i haven't tried visiting the duke's waifu since then, but... wow. the duke is clearly insane and i guess nobody really gives a fuck (or it's just unspoken that they want the arisen to go free because they know he's bonkers?!)
that said, still way into this. _________________

i really want to do a parting tribute so i can get that sweet ass 2 handed sword but i don't have any quests showing up on the gran soren inn notice board? what gives? a cursory search online shows i may be victim to a glitch. _________________

i feel like i started with quests from the alehouse across from the inn in gran soren (and a quest from mason), and quests on the inn's board didn't start showing up right away...? i might have overlooked it, though, since some people are saying there's only a small window of opportunity to pick up that quest (and others are saying they're wrong and it's a matter of affinity?) http://dragonsdogma.wikia.com/wiki/A_Parting_Tribute _________________

My original pawn was a lady as tall and rotund as I could manage but then I wound up restarting and had no patience and smashed through defaults, coming out the other end with Generic Cute Lady.
It is my deepest shame. _________________

i felt like i disappointed apol today when he found out my pawn was no longer 100% canonical GATTSU (as he is using a triple-headed hammer called bloodthirsty beak) but my excuse is that maybe this particular GATTSU is ripped from another universe and he longer knows who he truly is — yet i am trying to help him be the best and strongest berserker he can be in this fucked up world _________________

so i accidentally allowed madeleine to get eaten by a cyclops on an escort quest where she was supposed to give me an idol as a reward
(it was night and i thought the cyclops was just fleeing, but... oops)
considering she's such an obnoxious wretch i immediately shrugged it off, but i guess i might want that idol! i understand she reappears in gran soren after a week passes, but will she give an opportunity to retry the quest or is it just failed permanently? _________________

ok, no big deal
curious, now, though: since completing the "final battle" quest apparently puts the game in hard mode and opens up a few new things, does this also affect bitterblack isle? i'm at that juncture right now and thinking maybe i should spend a little time doing other things before i go attempt to start the postgame. (and is there any additional story during the postgame, or is it just full-on sandbox mode? the story so far has been just about nothing, anyway.) _________________

Bitterblack Isle is pretty much static as far as I'm aware. Post-game is basically all about The Everfall. You'll probably want to do some Everfall quests before jumping into Bitterblack Isle, since BBI is intended as an endgame dungeon.
There are however certain NPCs that can be lost if you miss certain quests before post-game. Post-game is where you get all the best equipment though, and what will essentially become a "base set" of equipment for BBI. _________________

i made like a little (as buff as possible) white haired chick with a scarred up face
i've also heard that the endgame boss on subsequent playthroughs is always your player character from the one before that. armed with that information i plan on making my next character look like griffith, so on my third playthrough i can be Gattsu _________________

yeah, i read somewhere else that aelinore's quest series vanishes if you don't do it before a certain point i've long since passed. was only curious because of how completely bonkers "arousing suspicions" was, especially when the duke (or anyone else) remembered nothing of it afterward. i guess i shouldn't have waited for a sign to continue the quest line.
i guess that's what ng+ is for, eh? so if the postgame enables the everall and i have bitterblack and stuff, how do i actually start a ng+ cycle? or is that one and the same — just resetting the story stuff with new locations and difficulty open?
considering bitterblack is supposed to be so hardcore i suppose i feel good about bringing down the cockatrice at level 35! and i've made plenty of runs down to the captive gorecyclops (though i have no hope of killing him right now), so i have some nice stuff like the mistletoe crown (the unicorn horn) and the dragon's presence, a giant pink mace with a grinning mouth on its side.
well, i guess i'll muck around with side quests for a while before doing the final battle. _________________

I will just say that the "final battle" is actually very easy in this game, and Bitterblack Isle is probably a more appropriate endgame. BBI is not so much hard as it is about using mechanics which were previously unneeded, so keep in mind that a lot of stuff that's not very useful in the game proper can be essential at times in BBI. You should probably read up on the Ur-Dragon and grind him a few times before going through BBI. I also wouldn't necessarily recommend going to NG+ before entering BBI. I will say that I got everything on NG in BBI even with missing some things in the game proper before post-game. A lot of it is generally unimportant to everything but the story.
One thing that I personally find strange is that running around in the open world in post-game is personally more difficult for me than even BBI is. I think it's because the unstructured encounters in post game are a lot tougher and harder to judge due to the random nature of running into different compositions of enemies. Which doesn't really happen in BBI or the open world before post-game. _________________

Oh man, that Gryphic zwei is real nice. I didn't even know that sword existed, and I thought I had one of every weapon. I mostly ignored those escort quests because they were bothersome and never seemed to offer anything interesting.
Postgame refreshes in the enemies in ways that are a little unbalanced, but I still found myself enjoying it just because there was finally some variety in the spawns. The difficulty spike is harsh, but it really reengaged me with the game. I decided to walk from Cassardis back to Gran Soren, and what a walk that was.
Aelinore will actually disappear from the game if you don't talk to her in the garden when you first meet her. She won't even be in her tower. This game has strange rules for NPCs. Some die and turn up a bit later ("I got better"), others can just vanish outright. _________________

i only did the completely bizarre arousing suspicions quest involving aelinore, and then stayed away from her after that, but the game somehow still elected her as my character's deepest love. what. i guess when i do ng+ i'll try for mercedes if i can, since she isn't terrifying and i suppose a connection between her and the arisen would actually make some sort of sense. i guess. (also she's basically ddogma's casca, because of course everything here is inspired by berserk in an even more overt manner than anything in dsouls.)
working my way down the everfall now. _________________

Aelinore is the default romance option if you interact with her at all. You actually have to try pretty hard to get any of the other characters to be your romance options. _________________

I finally got around to loading this up last night. I made a midget blue bowie elf with makeup with a tiny torso and a huge ass. My pawn is Tor Johnson from Plan Nine. After going through the usual tutorial stuff, I went back to the original town and decided to explore the well. Got a bit into it and ran into some lizardmen that completely destroyed us, I wound up hoofing it for the exit while they murdered my main pawn and that Rook guy. Nothing we could do seemed to take their health off at all.
Is there a good place to start poking and prodding at this world or is it all as seemingly death-filled as that well?

There is lots of death, but venturing outside of town durring the is a bit kinder.
(use ice magick on those lizard dudes to freeze 'em, and hack off their tails. you might need slightly better gear if you still have the starter stuff.)
Man I remember going into that well for the first time and it was pretty magical *sigh* _________________
