Oh, I just assumed it was just me getting booted! I can't even pull up the character list anymore, that's how hard I got booted.

I got to 20 archer, 20 conjurer, 20 marauder, 20 miner, 20 blacksmith and 20 armorsmith. If I can get back in I'll probably get 20 leatherworker and just leave my lancer at 15.

I'm not holding out hope, though.

Managed to get Arcanist to level 20. After I heard the let the servers stay online for a few more hours I rushed to level 10 with Conjurer via the Hunting Log and Guildleves. Overall I'm pretty happy how things went. Looking forward to the rest of the game.
I like that you can select abilities from other classes. For example I now can use Barrier and Air from the Conjurer when I'm playing my main class Arcanist.

The cross-class stuff is interesting, and very useful when soloing/in low-level dungeons. Once you start unlocking Jobs, it won't matter as much, since Jobs tend to be restricted to just skills from their two "component" classes plus their exclusive new toys. Grabbing Cure is handy for every class, even though most of them who aren't Conjurer are really bad at it.

Flylighter you are a maniac. Every time I looked at my friends list you were a different class and in the teens.

I didn't even get to level 20 in my main class. I think I hit 17. Logged off at an inn-room so I look forward to lots of bonus EXP.

I think they've closed all the server except for the new ones they put up. I wish we had picked somewhere a little less popular, and part of me is angry that a game in 2013 imposes these limitations (and why can we run dungeons with randoms from other servers?), but I understand why they exist.

I am waiting; there's no way I'm playing this game without playing with my friends. If worse comes to worst, I'll email the people I know at SE and see if they can give me some kind of fancy code to get in.

Yeah, the only reason I ended up on Gilgamesh was a close friend wanting to play there, or I would be on Ultros with you fine people.

Yeah, I'm going to have a lot less free time when the game actually goes live for real, so I wanted to splurge all weekend and I did exactly that!

It turns out that as you get that high up in leatherworker, one of the main components needs to be farmed from some specific enemies. That in itself wouldn't be an issue, but there was only a few hours left in beta and I was exhausted so me and my crafting buddy called it quits!

Faithless I just made new friends while playing as well! Being a lalafell and spamming /cheer makes you friends.

I think you can actually. The last thing I heard was that the Duty Finder is search across other realms as well.

I think I missed adding some of you on my friendslist. Will do that once the actual game is live (and you're actually online "because Square Enix").

the website to register for early access will also go live tomorrow

this is probably not A Very Good Idea. at any rate, I will try my damnedest to put in some time tomorrow night so I can be a pretty pretty paladin as soon as possible

geinou, what I meant to suggest was: if we can already party with randoms from other servers via duty-finder, why can't we party with friends from other servers via DF? I suppose it would be tricky to work out.

I hope I don't have to download a new client for early access.

Liked the sea-side town vibe.

Oh, sorry. I understood you wrong then. Yeah, that would actually be really nice. Maybe they'll can add it in the future. Even though I also think that it's probably really tricky to pull off.

About the housing area: I really wanted to see it (hell I was walking so many times just by it) but didn't had any time left in the end. Thank you for the screenshot. It does look lovely. As far as I know they will introduce housing with the first content patch (2.1). The whole housing aspect will probably really expensive. It does sound very ambitious though. Yoshi P showed some nice stuff you can put into your during the last live letter.

Anyone else notice gil was much harder to come by this time? I had tons in P3, but i only had about 5k after the weekend. I need to be a lot more conscious about transportation options.

Yeah, I didn't do barely any teleporting this time. Outside of regular use of return spells, I think I teleported one time ever, during the bullshit stretch of the main quest where you're at Camp Drybone and it's like "Go over to the Waking Sands! Now go out past Camp Drybone! Now go back to the Waking Sands!" No no no no, fuck you fuckball.

That, and they doubled the cost to fly between major cities!

I'm one of the few idiots who stuck through the entirety of 1.0. So, I managed to kill baby Ifrit, level ACN to 20, finish every 1-20 DoW/DoM class quest, hit every aetheryte, level MIN from 15-20, and make a crapton of crafting gear so that my FC and I could create the ilvl 70 stuff. I ended up doing so much crafting and farming over the weekend that I never got a chance to actually test anything of consequence, but I was really happy to see training dummies littered across the world's camps.

I really liked the Coerthas redesign.

So man Square has made a mess of the early access thing. Somehow despite the site where I could register my code to get my next code telling me ERROR, I got a code emailed to me, but that code turned out to be for the EU so uh, nope, not working Square.

And I'd love to think this doesn't indicate anything about the future, but I know better.

at least you got a code. the game appears on my Square Enix Members account (which apparently isn't the same as your SE ID, used for the game), but I haven't gotten a code yet

I also like how you can just pick which system your key applies for, instead of the sane thing, where you have separate key generators for each platform

as much as I want to be "it wouldn't be an MMO launch without technical issues!", I've grown weary of stupid bullshit when other companies have figured things out and even had smooth (or smooth-ish) launches

Yeah, they've been a complete trainwreck the whole beta process. I mean let's ignore the fact that the game was such a mess that they shut it the fuck down and had to remake it.

You know how I got to try beta phase 3? Beta phase 3 was for people who had purchased the game in its old incarnation before they tore it down. I never bought it, but my brother did. Thing is, they were supposed to send out beta keys to all the 1.0 players, and the system fucked up so hard that something like 95% of the eligible people didn't get keys. They had to implement a special streamlined system just for people putting in tickets to get a beta code. So my brother went through the process and got his code, and then like a week later he got a second code from the original batch that was supposed to go out! That was the key I got.

Then throughout beta 4, their servers got super hammered. This was the idea, BUT their solution was not to implement some more login servers or several subservers per game server, but it was to start up fresh game servers and lock new players out of the other servers. Thousands, possibly tens of thousands of people were left unable to play with their friends.

And THEN there were the infamous Error 3102 and Error 90000, which I was fortunate to avoid. I know that 3102 affected the most people and had nothing to do with taxed servers, it was just a glitch that kept players permanently logged in so that they couldn't get back in to actually play. Apparently it was a bug left from 1.0. This is Square Enix's Error 37.

Then their websites are ugly, disorienting and convoluted, as are the signup processes. It's like, okay, you pre-ordered, and we'll have the retailer e-mail you a pre-order code which you can't get in person but they'll e-mail it same day, but you can't redeem it yet, and when you redeem your pre-order code we'll automatically e-mail you a SECOND code, that code is for early access, redeem that and maybe you're good to go. Oh and redeeming probably won't work and we might send you early access for the wrong region. YAKETY SAX

Site gave me (and a ton of other people) EU-region codes instead of NA-region codes, which means I can't actually activate my NA account with the NA copy of the game I purchased. Argh.

Why the hell would you divide codes for an online game with internationally-shared servers into different account regions?

I like how the pre-order page has progressed from slow and error-prone, to fast and error-prone, to working. perhaps an ill omen of Saturday

edit: and then they offer me the client download, which can;t actually update because of maintenance. I feel like this is less a process and more a trial of my patience

I think if you were a subscriber until the end, you 2.0 get it for free? I'm not sure about that though.

I like the way these later dungeons look. These are places I want to adventure in.

Phew, it finally worked for me. Looks like I'm ready to go for early access. Looking forward to it!
The first point on my agenda will probably be to get my CNJ to level 15 so that I can immediately do the Scholar job quest once I hit level 30 with my Arcanist. As for other jobs like Summoner (rumors are that you need to get THM to level 15 to unlock Summoner, which would make sense), I'll just wait till I hit 50 with my ARC/SCH before I level up anything elese, this includes crafting and gathering jobs.

So, to keep character names and forum handles straight, I made a spreadsheet in google docs.

If you're cool, add your name to the list.

Added myself to this list, if anyone feels like being gilgamesh buddies with Gigglemesh Cheevos.

I can't wait to get my retainer, who will be one of the tiny people and I will name Wigglesworth. he will have good/bad facial hair.

All I want is to binge on games this weekend because I'm sick, c'mon Square

a wild neggy appears

anyways, wpham, I was wondering if you knew how long the resist timer on debuffs is. I noticed the diminishing returns (something like -50% on the 2nd application and -80% on the third) and I saw on longer fights that it resets eventually, I just don't know how long it takes. I'm mostly curious as I grabbed the Lancer slow for tanking, but if I have to space it out on long fights, it's not actually giving that much mitigation and I would have no problem dropping it for something better (or: I need to grab the Pugilist dodge buff)

Honestly, I haven't tested how long it takes for diminishing returns to wear until...phase 1. Back then, I believe it was in the neighborhood of ~30 seconds or so (from the wearing of the last application of that debuff). Given how much damage intake from boss mobs is a result of special moves, I don't see Feint being all that useful for a tank.

According to some posts I read that picture is a little misleading though. It implies you need 3 classes to get a certain job now. But apparently the requirements are still 2 classes for one job. The picture just shows some which classes can unlock cross class abilities. I guess we'll eventually find out once people unlocked Jobs and stuff during early access.
