the map is restricted to 1000 x 1000 squares.
It's an isolated island with invisible walls surrounding it on all four sides in the ocean, and you can cover the distance from edge to edge in a couple minutes.
Depressing.

Memory limitations?
Or it might be the thing where all games are required to run on a 360 with no storage attached besides the memory card. Possibly a one-two punch of both.
Man I never would have guessed it would be like this even though it seems obvious now. I think of Minecraft and I think of how it runs on netbooks, and a 360 can run Oblivion and shit, which a netbook can''t, so obviously the Xbox is superior. Except even the crummiest netbooks have twice the memory a 360 has, and a disk to cache of off to boot.

inventory is given a really useful "quick move" feature and crafting is significantly simplified (to the point where it is considerably faster than in the pc version)
the limitations suck and i remain hopeful they'll eventually be removed, but the stuff i'm doing is pretty insane in scale and i'm okay with the small map for now
no, you cannot connect to pc servers
game is currently based on beta 1.6 (meaning there are like maybe 1-2 clay blocks per chunk so nothing is getting made out of brick unless you use a duplication glitch, if you can even find the clay on your chunk) _________________

Good job kitten!
I don't have a 360 but I support minecraft-playing however you can do it!
My sprite art attempt from the other thread wasn't so much born out of loyalty as yours but I thought it was pretty nifty nonetheless!

1000 blocks? Geez that's skimpy; I think I have natural cave systems in the PC one that are at least 500 across.

hello, i found out i can make a dummy facebook account, upload pictures there, download them in full size, re-upload them, and then organize them out in this thread.
prepare to take an adventure through planet PLANET CTARL-CTARL!
pretty much everything is incomplete/work in progress, so keep that in mind.
here is mega man. i know this shit has been done a goddamn bajillion times and requires zero talent or skill (well, i guess the patience for getting all this wool is some sort of skill), but i wanted a mega man landmark, okay? here are some pictures. i think it looks cool.
the power pellet seems to be extraordinarily slow moving, as nearly a day has passed while our combatants remain in motionless tension
from the other side
coming this summer from director michael bay (transformers, transformers 2, transformers 3) is an experience that will leave you... "MEGA" "rock"ed
as we begin to travel back...
and turn around, we see the tower thing that doesn't have a name yet
bridge over water and a gigantic staircase!
boy i bet there's some pretty awesome shit up there!!!
sheep, what are you doing, cover yourself. this is going to be on the internet D:
too bad, going past it for right now (use the tower as a landmark for orientation!)
oh no help
guess i'll turn around and go take a nap here
it's a winter wonderland and now is a good time for a snooze
rise and shine, sleepyhead, it's time to get up!
this is what i call "TREE PARK" becoz it has lots of trees i grow, it's where i get all my LUMBER and LUMBER ACCESSORIES
don't steal from the chest or else head ranger kitten will be so mad!
leaving tree park and circling around the lake, looking back at the park
moving into OMINOUS SHADOW TERRITORY, we look up and
oh god please no i've done everything you asked
circling WAY BACK AROUND, i guess it's time to make the GRAND JOURNEY up the STAIRCASE TO HEAVEN (or maybe this is backwards world where hell is up nah just kidding let's go ok)
boy that was a long walk up i hate walking up stairs why isn't there an elevator to this
at the top of the stairs we have the CASTLE WALL
it is there to keep all of the abominable riff-raff out
(i hate abominable riff-raff)
(keep our city clean)
entering the castle walls, i turn around to look at the gate, hesitant it will shut and lock me in the sky forever, to live out my years as a sky hermit
it doesn't move
i wonder why there is even a gate if it doesn't keep anyone out. perhaps the gate is metaphorical. its perpetually open nature and seclusion in the sky, with no one ever entering it, is much like the life of those who travel inside. alone, desperately wanting the streets to be lived-in, but finding no companions in their self-erected prison.
whatever lets go on top of those walls via a SECRET DOOR that is not very secret located in the area below the gate (I WILL NOT SHOW IT TO YOU)
sure is pretty up here
i like this view a lot. the guards that don't exist really appreciate it when stationed to patrol up here and keep the riff-raff out.
if i look down, i can see TREE PARK and the cabin. also the giant torch monument (oh that's what it is, you say to yourself) i built ages ago to remember where TREE PARK would eventually come to fruition (it took me too long to come up with such a clever name that i had to wait to work on it)
walking in the park. sure is nice in the park. animals will even spawn up here they love it so much.
love walking on this bridge. it's so PEACEFUL.
incomplete building and PYRAMID!
let's rush straight to the top of it!!!!
wow, what a cool fountain. wish i had some coins to toss in for GOOD LUCK. too bad no currency exists on PLANET CTARL-CTARL. at least not yet. i like to pretend the books are ice cream sandwiches then i press the drop button a lot and it looks like i puke them out. just like in real life becuz i eat way too many ice cream sandwiches.
looking over the bench at some incomplete something. no idea how i'll make this visible from down below because it's going to block light. not that any disgusting bottom-dwellers deserve to look up. their eyes should be scorched for their seditious act.
hopping back down the pyramid we see the MEGA MAN SHRINE. he commands all filthy bottom dwellers to pay homage to his majesty. i am actually his mouthpiece, his wizard of oz behind the curtain.
so cool i could stare at it forever
yep
pretty
oops it looks like one forever has passed, time to get a different view
sorry castle in the sky-o, but it's time to fly-o
man maybe i should go there
"omg... stairs... again"
think i took a wrong turn somewhere holy crap how huge is this place i bet whoever mines down here is CRAZY
it... it tells me to do things... things i don't want to do...
oh hey it's a place, i'll just go up this place and then uh...
oh man...
what
i'm trippin balls
@_@;;
AFTER A LOT MORE GOING THE FUCK UP
looks like i hit civilization
they have things like the atom bomb, so I think i'll stay where I "ahm"
civilization, i'll stay right here!
nah jk i'll just go up and
oh
a wild pack of family dogs came runnin' through the yard
as my little sister played, the dogs took her away
and i guess she was eaten up ok, yeah she was eaten up ok
my mother's cryin' blood dust now
oh hey i'm in the tower from earlier. cool farm.
after lots more GOING UP i come out here and whoa this is pretty cool i guess!!! must be done by an attractive cool person and everyone loves her.
awesome chandelier. cool ballroom. i'm diggin the juke box. play me a song.
dude is that REAL LAVA!?!!?!? sick nasty
cool room over there
suddenly, night time
i look out the window and see a case of aggravated assault in progress. in my sky tower, away from the scum below me, i turn around and ignore the activities of those lesser beings. their plight is no longer my responsibility. they have forsaken civilization.
i retreat into my study for the night. shutting the door behind me, i turn to gaze at my collection of expensive, rare and beautiful artwork. also the flowers are pretty cool. every rose has its thorns, though. that's a thing people say.
my workshop. i leave it close to the window, so that i may gaze upon the phantoms dancing endlessly in the ballroom.
my bed rests in the corner, but it is not yet time to sleep
i'll just rest on the couch, maybe...
peer out the window...
suddenly, i was killed by this man. if you see him, please report him to the authorities.
also enjoy the view of COOL ROOM

I've only recently gotten into this game on the 360 as well as the PC. I actually like the constraints of the 360 version quite a bit. It allows me to slowly grow familiar with the whole map not unlike a small town.
The PC version serves its purpose well for me too. I like the sense of adventure you can feel by venturing off into the infinite world. I love both versions! _________________

So why haven't you built some massive ode to Tron Bonne yet? One would only assume that you'd construct some Collossus of Rhodes so that all may gaze upon and worship her steely crotch. _________________ "Amidst utter chaos lies strict order."

oh, shucks, sorry, for some reason i never noticed this post
honestly it would be really difficult to make anything tron related other than some bonne family insignias, which i'm sure i'll work into stuff, eventually. she's my favorite game character but i don't think she translates well enough to a very low resolution.
maybe when the 360 gets creative mode i'll try some more out. _________________

man today i found a dungeon in such a fucking weird spot i was like "man what's up with this square shaped area in this sandy part"
seriously what's going on down there
curiosity hit me (well, i was killing squids first, but curiosity THEN hit me) and i went down and noticed some cobblestone. bizarre! that's not MYYYYY cobblestone! then i smacked some sand and found a chest
i got rid of the water
and then i dug it out and lookie there it's a whole guldurn dungeon
i've also been doing a lot of work on my crazy tower
spiral staircase closed in by fences. i really like how it looks a lot. it spirals around a central stone column and it looks great.
also i've spent an insane amount of time digging a fucking enormous underground area place thing
also i spent 2 dollars so i could look like master chief! (or 39 other things i don't care about)

how radical a change are you thinking?
with a lot of work, it might be nice to lower those four edges so that they go down again from the center square, like four observation platforms
alternatively, it might be kind of classy to elongate them, narrow the middle of them and generally shape them into large pointing arrows so it looks like some kind of giant compass/road sign
perhaps easier, although requiring some extensive temporary architecture, would be to create a ring of "hanging gardens" (trees/flowers/waterfalls) beneath those edges that doesn't connect to the main shaft (or at least not more than once). You could even do more than one layer if you felt it was a good idea.
kind of sucks there's no way to fly like creative mode in the PC version |

dais, could you illustrate this in some way? i am unfortunately having a hard time following.
most of the changes i was planning on doing involve changing the area beneath the gigantic wooden patio thing to make the base a little bigger (maybe making the base roughly as large as the level just before the tower connects to the huge circle part).
also, do you think it looks pretty cool right now? _________________

the 360 version is finally getting a significant update so i'm going to be coming back to the game in a new world to get in on all of the cool stuff. what had killed the game for me was the fact that the 360 version has limited size. this is not because i could use up all the space given to me, but rather because it made it impossible to enjoy significant amounts of update content because my world had already been generated. i will probably get into it with as much gusto as before.
is anyone on here interested in playing with me when the update hits? _________________

man so i started my new world and everything like i said, and, uh. i should probably take pictures, but i'm going to try to explain it:
i had two npc villages spawn on the very, very edge of my world. the edge of the world on the 360 version is entirely habited by water as far as the eye can see, with only parts of it able to be swam in. these npc villages have only the ground beneath them occupied (including a couple of wheat farms), meaning they're floating in the air above the water (often with nothing connecting them) and then as you get further out to see, divided by an invisible line into some really weird looking... things. it's really interesting, like some type of futuristic bomb went off that vaporized everything around them, or maybe they were partially teleported into my world from another world and this is the result (think like when super man was teleported to the future in justice league unlimited and the surrounding area was transported around him but in a weird cut-off way).
i will take pictures later, but it's very interesting. _________________

one of the things that i really love about minecraft is its lighting effects. it really manages to set the mood incredibly well and give the world a sense of realism. everything large feels like it has genuine depth to it thanks to the foggy distance effect. if you're down super-de-duper deep, light won't travel as far as if you were closer to the surface. this makes exploration when you're deep down a lot more spooky! also serves as a decent gameplay mechanic to force you to better manage your inventory when exploring lower cave networks, as you'll need to use more torches to properly explore them.
here, i'm traveling up a big tunnel i made all the way down (will probably add a minecart, eventually, but i like sprinting up and down it). watch as the further i get up, the further light will travel.
0_0
*huff huff*
long fuckin way up
oh hey what's this
REALITY BEGINS TO UNTETHER ITSELF
i tried to make it so my portal-to-the-nether-room actually looked like it had phased itself into the regular world. i think the effect was pretty cool with the floating bricks everywhere. even though this room is actually pretty big, i do feel it's a bit cramped, still.
lava lava lava lava lava
i made a glowstone portal "exit" on the side adjacent to the nether portal. when i go to build a portal to the end, i will create a new room past this one in a similar fashion

oh, my! well, hello there. pardon me for not noticing you sooner, i was merely picking one of my favorites off of the shelf, "gears of war: jacinto's remnant." the star of this book? why it's me, halo, of course. (that's mr. halo to you)
there's nothing i love more than to pick up a good book and cozy up next to the fireplace whilst reading it. what better way to spend an evening at my library away from a library?
views like this remind me of the good ol' days. you know, the ones before demons invaded from hell while i was at work on deimos base on the moon.
hold on a sec while i take some pictures. don't look at me while i do this, it'll make me nauseous.
i don't have a couch, yet, because in the last twenty four hours i have seen two sheep. also, i haven't found a spider dungeon yet, so i can't even get wool that way.
that's all from halo, tonight! remember, kids, finish the fight on election day by running out and getting your new copy of halo 3. _________________
