Should we count Mega Man, MegaMan.EXE, and Mega Man Volnutt as separate characters? Because if so, then the Mega Man which appears in Street Fighter X Tekken may not be a valid connector.

Similarly, what of Yoshimitsu of Soulcalibur and Yoshimitsu of Tekken?

I think we're already pushing it by saying that Man from SFxT is Mega Man so I say it should just be the plain version. The others can go down a level.

Speaking of which, what are some of the other Mega Man connections are they like items or something?

on the other hand i did ask for moogle/slime as a generic term so maybe we could just say oh hey it's "a megaman". it's your call

Rudimentary DoA link: Nobunaga via Onimusha and then Ryu and Ayane via Warriors Orochi 3. That also links Cao Cao, Joan of Arc, Achillies, and Sun Wukong. Abe no Seimei too, although it would be kind of weird how more than a few videogame versions of Abe no Seimei are female.

This thread is amazing.

Adolf Hitler has a Williams Number of 3, via Spencer, which I suppose might make for some interesting connections. Nothing except BJ Blazkovicz immediately springs to mind though.

Oh, also God appears in SVC Chaos with Ryu.

edit: oh er just noticed Hitler was already on the list.

edit again: And hey, what about Spider-Man and Batman appearing in The Super Shinobi? That would put Batman at W3 and by extension make for shorter connection for many DC characters.

Rouge from Power Stone 2 makes cameos in both Capcom vs SNK 2 and Capcom Fighting Evolution. Does that count?

Yeah I think that's a cleaner tie in for Power Stone

i don't think i want to add in bootleg/esentially bootleg appearances of copyrighted characters. it would be pretty funny if we counted spiderman and batman as the same guy though

It's implied that one is a descendant of the other, but never really made clear.

Oh man Death (if we're talking about The Death and not A Death) is a pretty good tie in all around: Bill and Ted, NBA JAM T.E., The Sims, Billy and Mandy so we can bring in the Cartoon Network games

Fred Durst is also a character in WWF RAW, which may be a more concise connection through Mike Tyson and co.

Mikhail Gorbachev is in Zangief's Street Fighter II ending, which gives him a Williams Number of Two.
You can probably tie in the Burger King through his appearance in Fight Night Round 3.

Could Godzilla get in at a lower number via Spiderman being in Revenge of Shinobi?

Also in Revenge of Shinobi was Batman (or Go Nagai's Devilman depending on your region), Rambo, Hanzo from Shadow Warriors, and the Devil.

We've already ruled Revenge of Shinobi as inadmissable, but let's see if we can't work out that Godzilla thing

Hitler links Persona 2: Innocent Sin, which then links Persona 2: Eternal Punishment (most of the main cast), Persona 1 (half the cast appear in P2), SMT if (Tamaki), Persona 3 (Nate and other references), Persona 4 (cast from P3) and every other SMT game by means of demons.

I was talking to my friend about this thread and I asked him to give me an obscure character to try to link. He gave me Getsu Fuma from Getsu Fuma Den. My progression:
Heihachi Mishima (Soul Calibur 2) > Link (Super Smash Bros Brawl) > Solid Snake (DreamMix TV World Fighters) > Simon Belmont (Konami Wai Wai World) > Fuma

It's pretty fun trying to figure out the tenuous links. It really helps to have some big crossover games though like DreamMix TV World Fighters, Namco x Capcom, and that recent Namco x Capcom x Sega one.

Recent challenge: Arc the Lad. I... don't know enough about Arc to do this one.

Also, if you can find linking characters like Konami Man who has references in a bunch of other Konami games, that really helps.

Pepsi Man Is a number 7 due to Inclusion as a secret character in Fighting Vipers which has characters from Fighters Megamix which has Virtual Fighters 2 characters which already rank #5.
Similarly the Hornet car (Daytona USA) and AM2 Palm Tree from megamix are level 6 for being in Megamix.

Yeah, I had to get really obscure to get NieR up there, but it wouldn't be my thread without NieR. I should put up some more Lord of Vermillion stuff.

Oh right, Dead or Alive: Dimensions! I guess this is Other M's true legacy.

Samus herself also shows up in that stage, near the end, but Ridley is a better connector as the more obvious cameo.

Fun Fact:

Lenne Hardt is both the voice actress for Anna Williams(I don't play Tekken, but maybe this is Nina's sister?) and is herself(a ring announcer) in EA MMA and UFC Undisputed 3's Pride Mode. She is also the menu announcer in Virtua Fighter 4. Does this affect the Williams Number of the relevant characters?

It would only connect games in which she is specifically playing herself (EA Sports MMA, UFC Undisputed 3). Otherwise, we'd be able to connect, say, Brutal Legend and Guitar Hero. But that's good trivia!

Someone help me out here.

Kane and Lynch to Lara Croft via Guardian of Light
Lara Croft to Anubis via Tomb Raider 4
Anubis to Gex via Gex 3

and now I'm lost.

Indiana Jones -> LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga-> Darth Vader -> Soulcalibur IV -> Siegfried -> Soulcalibur II -> Heihachi -> Tekken -> Nina Williams

Can you connect Anubis to Indy?

Does Will Wright appear as himself in anything other than The Simpsons Game? I am hesitant to consider him the same character as Mr. Wright.

EDIT: He does appear as himself in The Sims: Makin' Magic! That puts not only The Simpsons Game on the list, but the Futurama video game through Zoidberg and Bender's appearances in that game as well. Also, the Judeo-Christian GOD.
