Basketball is a pretty good source of crossovers. Even if we go for only over the top games that still brings in a lot of things

you can use slime/jessica as a dragon quest crossover they are in all the dragon quest themed itadaki street games including the mario one and cloud strife is in the dq/ff themed one so perhaps he can be the nexus in the particular case

i think that changes the rankings unless you want to count the mario/dq itadaki as seperate from the ff/dq itadaki instead of counting them as a series

This list is primarily (but not exclusively) for commercial video games.

A game crossover point happens when 2 or more specific characters from separate video game narratives are visibly onscreen in a gameworld where it is possible for them to interact.

The character who crosses over may be in different forms in different works as long as it is always recognizably the same character.

In the gameworld, text mentions of characters do not count as canon.

In the gameworld, image based representations of a character such as a photo, a painting, or graffiti do not count as canon.

A character who only appears on a game's company logo does not count as within the gameworld and is not canon.

The Dr. Light Exception - If a character is viewing a recorded message of another character via video or holography it counts as long as all other rules are followed.

If multiple games are in a collection they do not count as one gameworld.

For characters who are currently copyrighted by different corporations, the separate parties involved with the creation of or legally in charge of the characters all need to agree. Cameos such as those in Revenge of Shinobi or Duke Nukem 3D do not count as canon. Fangames using copyrighted characters are not canon.

The Take It Sleazy Dopefish Exception: If a game has a physical Dopefish it counts as a crossover point to Commander Keen despite it not necessarily being legal because that is the spirit of the Dopefish and the Dopefish is great.

For literary characters who are in the public domain any use is allowed.

For real world figures dead or alive any use is allowed.

For mythological and religious figures any use is allowed.

In all cases the characters must be specifically nameable and non-generic. Count Dracula is a character. "A vampire" is not.

The Henchman and Creature Exception: A collective of characters who are specific to a work or group of works such as Final Fantasy Moogles, Dragon Quest Slimes, Mega Man Servbots, or Pokemon Pikachus count as a canon crossover point as long as they follow all the other rules.

I feel weird saying that Moais are too generic but The Alive Statue of Liberty (non-robotic?) should maybe count as a thing?

Speaking of which I am still thinking about the Ghostbusters/Garfield/Mickey Mouse Crazy Castle game because they do have visually the exact same enemies and final boss and everything although I don't know if they have different names.

I don't think there's ever a scenario where Yoshimitsu is in a crossover without another Tekken character so I am just locking that away in the emergency vault.
